i was actually amazed when i watched it how good it is
so many of these popular boomer movies are absolute dogshit, but godfather is totally solid
the scene when michael is alone in the hospital is one of the most tense things i've ever experience
And the pacing of the movie is actually pretty quick too. When most people complain about how slow and boring it is, they’re actually confusing it with Part II.
The first 45 minutes are a little slwo but they're the setup section, introducing the setting, the cast, and their motivations. After that it's a quick paced crime drama and thriller. Reminder that The GodFather was so beloved not because it was an arthouse film but it was literally a blockbuste in the 70's that made hundreds of millions.
>kills people >buys politicians >destroys lives with gambling games >lets his daughter get beaten >extorts people over "favors" >uhhhh... are those DRUGS???? OH NO NO NO DRUGS ARE LE BAD!!!! AAAAA SAVE ME FREDOMAN!!!
Bravo Coppola
It wasn't a moral objection, it was a business one. He says as much stating that politicians and policeman will look the other way on things like gambling and prostitution but they will come down on them hard with drugs.
Yeah when I watch the godfather I just imagine how this is laying the bed rock for the marvels and floating faces with cgi bodies and 30 minutes of cgi barf for finals and goofy 1 liners. I'm shocked I didn't realise this sooner until you made the connection. Oh wait you're just moronic.
It isn't a Marvel movie, the characters aren't invincible superheroes for you to clap for when they survive a big explosion or defeat the big bad guy. Luca Brasi's death showed that all the characters were vulnerable.
>I think it was handled better in the book
Because of his backstory. He dies just the same, and the only difference is that you know he threw a baby into the river and was generally a sick frick which is irrelevant.
What's next, Sonny is better character in the book because Puzo describes his big wiener and how it was hard for him to frick his wife?
t. OP describing what goes on in his brain
yes your several times a day godfather bait is very funny

almost all 70s movies are so fricking kino

Adjusted for inflation it made $2.1 billion
that's truly nuts
actually mogged by barbie
Barbie is better AGP kino for sure.
Great scene. Michael won't have him killed unless he admits the truth, because he wasn't 100% sure.

>nothing happens
>like the big guy
>dies right away
>turn it off
That happened.
>this is Luca Brasi the toughest, most savage and ruthless thug you will ever meet
>dies like a fricking idiot the very next scene
He died too quickly in the movie. I think it was handled better in the book, which is very good.
>He died too quickly in the movie.
Too quickly for what?
The way he was introduced as a bad ass but immediately killed without visually showing he was a badass first
