No, this is bullshit. The thalidomide incident was over half a century ago, the show takes place way after that. Walt talks about it in one of his classes, the effects have been known for a very long time.
Her problem was being a character who was entirely in the right the entire time. She has few faults, and those that she does have are always justified in the show, not to mention undergoes very little development (although why would she need to) and is wholly uninteresting because of it. She’s just there to serve a foil to Walt’s criminal ventures and very little else. They kind of try to make her sort of emotionally negligent in the first few episodes but quickly give that up. They gave every other major character some sort of foible beyond their relation to the protagonist but not her.
Compare it to other long suffering wife characters in prestige tv like Carmella in the Sopranos and Betty in Mad Men, they’re a lot more interesting and fleshed out even though people hated Betty too, but mostly I think that was because her actress well and truly sucked to the point she was relegated to supporting cast in later seasons.
Also Anna Gunn has resting b***h face. She’s a fine actress but her characters always give off Brie Larson vibes because of it.

When she does find out, she doesn't want to talk, give him a chance to explain, just kicks him out and cuts all communication between him and his family, like he's not a human who makes mistakes. It's clear it's not the illegality or danger that bothers her, it's the fact that she no longer feels in total control of her husband anymore and cannot deal with it, so she lashes out and shuts him out.
