I do admit, I always wonder how disabled people feel when wheelchair bound people are like forced to keep their wheelchairs when in superhero form. It reminds me how in that failed gundam adaptation Doozybots where the kids turn into mini gundams, they gave the kid with the rocket-flying wheelchair the ability to turn into the Guntank, aka the one with tank treads instead of legs. For the most part I've seen, they'd rather the wheelchair be kept. They seem to perceive it as erasure when heroes with disabilities get it swept under the rug to pass as "normal" like when Oracle got turned back into Batgirl

The goal was to replace comic book guys with librarians in the comics business model, because there are a frickton more libraries than comic stores, and for a time it seemed they were all rocking huge graphic novel sections. (This is not the case in my area anymore. They’re scaling way back on everything.)
So this was unsuccessful and the big two are resolutely fricked.
But the feminization continues because when everything goes kablooie the ones responsible can pull the “right side of history” card, blame chuds and nazis for the failure of comics, and escape unscathed, likely to fall upward and destroy some other industry. Assuming there’s any left.

That shit almost always comes from people born unable to hear at all. And considering that they not only lack a context for hearing, deafness is not a functional impairment, and there exists an entire language and culture associated with deafness, it's far more understandable - especially given the inconsistent results cochlear implants.
