I believe you, it's not a far shot considering how much it has won already, I just hope you are somehow wrong. I really feel like critics are treating this movie as way to honor Nolan's entire career even though it's arguably his least creative movie that only highlights his weakest points like his terrible dialogue and character writing

                Anonymous

you're just a plebeian, mate. Oppenheimer is so much better than most of Nolan movies it's not even close. There's a reason why he didn't get any attention at the oscars so far - he made almost entirely shit movies

                Anonymous

You're the pleb here for thinking oscar nominations make a movie. Inception, Memento and Tenet are kino. Just a creative concept that serve as a good excuse to make some impressive scenes, that's been Nolan's trademark. His shortcomings were always the lackluster characters, dialogue and emotional payoff.

The only reason any one watches this shit is for the same reasons people watched E3 towards the end. Just to watch a trainwreck and see what stunt will farted out this time.

If it wasn't backed by huge generational wealth, I'd say the Oscars would be cancelled and forgotten about in the next 5 years. Too bad it'll limp along for years and years to come.

      Anonymous

      >e3 replaced by the game awards as soon as ign realised that creators want awards and audiences want to see trailers and no one cares about awards speeches
      >the oscars replaced by...
Some mad c**t needs to just come along and revolutionise this shit. Take the 30 most acclaimed directors and producers and have them form a jury that votes on the winners. If you win an award for best picture you get permanent voting rights on that jury.
The ceremony has an open bar and is hosted by a standup comedian (who's actually a somebody) whose job is to lightly roast everyone.
Trailers for new films premiere at the event. After a trailer premieres, a drunken a/b-lister actor is forced to comment on the trailer's quality.
Acceptance speeches are limited to 40 seconds from the moment the winner is announced (so they have to get to the stage quickly) after which their mic loses sound and a curtain falls on whoever's giving the speech (and this is done automatically so no bias involved).
There's 2 stages so they then quickly swap to the second stage for the next award/event

Dude i would lose my shit if Minus won best foreign picture over. those pretentious anatomy of a fall and snow society shit been getting all the "not good enough for a real category" awards

It won't be nominated for best foreign picture because Japan already chose its candidate months before Minus One came out.
Instead it will probably be nominated for sfx and according to Indie Wire it potentially became the frontrunner. Even over The Creator (which I still think will probably win).
Imagine a Godzilla movie with an Oscar.

But sfx seems natural. It's gonna be like an Oscar for the entire 70 year long franchise that was snubbed so often. It doesn't look like a typical Oscar movie. That's gonna be Oppenheimer. The effects category is what it can actually win. I can feel it. Those articles that appeared they can't be coincidental. They're preparing for it to win.

God I hope so, crazy to think that it had less than a $15 million budget and had a better bomb explosion than Oppenheimer. And that they displayed their cgi in broad daylight and managed to make everything look so real and natural.

I haven't seen Perfect Days because there's no proper subtitles but you'd think Japan would send Koreeda's gay little kids want to frick each other movie to the Academy. Seems more up their alley if they're trying to pander.

They thought they had a real winner. Strange because Shin Godzilla won their academy award for best picture so it's not like there's some stigma against genre cinema but maybe with Anno directing it felt more domestic than international. Minus One earned less than Shin Godzilla in Japan.

it's the best source of recommendations there is. The only problem with Tomatoes is adding literally whos with a vlog as critics. But this is a problem almost entirely with horror movies that have like less than 50-60 reviews. It's a lottery then. Other than that high critic score + high avg - almost always a kino. High critic score + low audience score - even more often a kino
