So are Skrulls supposed to be bad guys now in the MCU? Because they established that they aren't bad guys in the first Captain Marvel movie.

Presumably there are different skrull factions and this one is bad.

It's just really confusing because their initial introduction was "these are the bad guys" and then later they said "psyche they aren't the bad guys they're actually the good guys" and now it's "some of them are bad and some of them aren't." It just seems they didn't think this shit out.

Yeah it's really confusing. Like how in every movie there's bad guys but then they introduce good guys and then there are bad and good guys? Like what the frick is going on?

just admit they shot their skrull load early with Captain Marvel at the expense of that movie's plot. They would have been a lot better off saving the screen time for Jude Law's character as a foil to Carol.

...yes. I'm the one who thinks the skrulls shouldn't have been introduced in Captain Marvel at all because it cluttered that movie's plot and undercut their threat for Secret Invasion. Which is not the view you're arguing with. Take your meds.

No. It's like if they made a Batman movie and the Joker was set up to be the bad guy. "He's killing people with Joker gas, it has to be stopped."
But then plot twist Joker isn't the bad guy. The Joker gas thing was all a lie by the Mayor, who is the real bad guy. Batman and Gordon apologize to the Joker, and then the three of them work together to defeat the Mayor.
And then you make a follow-up story set in the exact same continuity where the Joker is the bad guy and he's poisoning people with Joker gas, and it's called "Secret Joker Gas."
          It just isn't a well-crafted narrative.

The Skrulls are an entire species they're not one guy. There are good Skrulls and bad Skrulls. Are you an actual child?

Okay, then it'd be like making the first Star Wars movie introduce the Sith as bad guys, and then it turns out no, they're actually innocent, they don't use the dark side of the Force at all, it's just a Jedi lie. And Luke helps the Sith defeat the Jedi.
Then in the next movie the Sith are all dark side using villains and it's called "Sith: Masters of Evil."

To be fair, in the OT Jedi are presented as wise mystical monks who valued resolving conflicts through defense over fighting then in the PT, they turned out to be a weird cult that turned children into soldiers and were deeply involved in the government's military operations.

So the Kree were right then in Captain Marvel, and the Skrulls really are invaders, and it's just a small group of them that aren't evil. Because we only ever see a handful of good ones.

While the Kree/Skrull war is a complicated shitshow, and there are good people on both sides, Captain Marvel’s film was overly apologetic to the Skrulls. This feels like a course correct that was too little too late and only serves to confuse causals

      Anonymous

They explained it so simply that I would be suprised if even normies didn't get it
      >Basically Captain Marvel and Nick Fury saved the Skrulls from the Kree and provided them refuge on Earth until they could find a new planet
      >30 years later (Captain Marvel was set in 1995, Secret Invasion in 2025), this promise has not been fulfilled
      >The schism broke out when Nick dipped out of Skrull affairs to chill in space after the events of Endgame, losing their faith in their remaining human contact
      >Tired of having to masquarade as humans and hide away their culture to stay on Earth, the rogue Skrull faction (compromised of younger generations) seek to kickstart a world war between major powers so that humanity will be wiped out and they can take over the planet for themselves

So the Kree were right, the Skrull are an invasive species. And not only that, but they'll invade you even after you save them.

Kind of sounds like anti-refugee propaganda.
        >don't take in refugees, because they'll turn on you!
Good message Disney but a bit too little too late for places like the UK.
