Interracial couples are dramatically overrepresented in media, and overwhelmingly portrayed as a pallete swap instead of showing any of the actual issues and communities of different races.
Don't get me wrong, there's no rule that says that the people need to match the community, and screaming even more about race isn't what the industry needs, but it's ridiculous, especially when they're getting GLAD awards and wrapping themselves up in representation .
Have you EVER seen a "no blacks" gay person represented in all of Cinemaphile?

Can't say I have ever seen an animated or comic book character that's gay and racist. But some would wonder why would such a character be necessary. I suppose if someone was interested in writing a story that analyzes racial prejudice and issues within the gay community.

>But some would wonder why would such a character be necessary.
It's not really about necessity. If you're going to demand authentic gay shit and authentic black shit, dealing with racist gays, and by that I DON"T just mean stuck up white people who get bashed in act 3 is a thing.
There is a WHY this is a thing, that we absolutely aren't going to get into on Cinemaphile. You really don't have a depiction of what a black gay club looks like anywhere in comic book land.
>there was such an issue with race amongst the gay community.

Gay guys dating gay guys of their own race isn't a red flag that racism is afoot, but gay guys constantly and vastly disproportionately shown in interracial relationships is a big red flag that the creators are trying to maximize their minority points and should be treated with suspicion.
So basically big two comics are dying because no one's actually getting what they really want except the comic creators' own moral self-masturbation and ego.
I can't disagree with your description of the situation, but I would note that comics have been in this position since the crash. The pointscoring hasn't really shifted the business.
I doubt anything will change unless they someone get an editor who hires new writers who want to produce something longer term, which has been distinctly lacking for all the significant gay characters.

This. Interracial is still a touchy subject but showing a straight version is more organic than showing an interracial gay couple, especially when they're treated as disposable background chatacters. It's why for all it's faults, Elemental was more organic.

> Gay guys dating gay guys of their own race isn't a red flag that racism is afoot
So why is it on gay hookup apps like Grindr there’s such a commodification about it? I’m not saying everyone is entitled to have to get with everyone. But it seems so strange to me that gay men hide behind their prejudice by simply stating that it’s their preference meanwhile hurling racist remarks on their profile.
Gay dudes (and lesbians) can be as racists as anyone else. I've never dated an actual African American but I was in a long-term relationship with a guy from Brazil (whose last LTR has been with a white blond guy for that matter) whose skin was as dark as any black guy, he just didn't have some of the other racial features associated with Black guys.
But interracial isn't and doesn't just mean black and white, which is the problem here, where race changing a character is usually a discussion about a former ginger being turned black or some such, and not about say a brown skinned latin guy with a black man or a white man, or an asian with a white guy (or black guy), etc.
There's a lot of the USA that is in the fly over states where there isn't much opportunity for gay guys to meet other gay guys, much less diverse populations, so that will impact some of this, and there isn't as much need for gay guys to move from the midwest or deep south to a big city, be it Atlanta and New Orleans or LA/NY/Chicago, etc.
But people are going to have preferences for and against everything from dick size to skin color - if they are making racist comments ('black guys are thieves') on a grindr profile, I doubt they are going to date much making such comments, much less get their dick sucked - and yes, that does mean they are either stupid or racists, but that's not common - people posting racing profiles at that level on grindr (or elsewhere).

Raceplay is a sex thing. But we're really not going to map how grindr works here in Cinemaphile. Keep in mind a BUNCH of the people that say "no blacks" ARE black.
Very true. I was trying make a point about how ridiculous the prejudice surrounding relationships are. If consenting adult human beings are just trying to find love, let them. Why judge them over superficial traits?
Anonymous
Wait, is race superficial or not? Because if it is then the campaigns to put race front and center and See Color like the Stephen universe garbage are shit. As far as the LGBT community, they had the flag replaced to put black and brown people explicitly on it.
Honestly, fair. Though there has been more gay and bi male characters in entertainment. They and the relationships depicted still leave something to be desired. If you had the power, what would you pitch?
For all the screeching rightoid homosexuals do here, comics' treatment of gay characters is still pathetically tokenistic and very obviously done for marketing around pride month rather than an attempt to tell actual stories, regardless of quality.
So basically big two comics are dying because no one's actually getting what they really want except the comic creators' own moral self-masturbation and ego.
If you don't mind my asking. Which character off the top your head best fits it. I know there aren't too many gay characters as is let alone ones that fit your description. But in terms of physical appearance alone. Whose your ideal?
>i didnt watch castlevania beyond s1 >i havent read scott pilgrim comic so i didnt watch the show hearing it was a reimagining >didnt watch adventure time so it didnt feel right to watch the spinoff
Am I missing out on gaykino or should I stick to manhwas.
It's fine, nothing terrible although nothing spectacular in my opinion. I am curious what manhwas you've been reading. Do you have any recommendations?
Castlevania has a church guy banging a vampire and Alucard does a MMF threesome. Pretty okay.
That Scott Pilgrim picture is an edit. All the show has Wallace fricking Todd off screen. Nothing hot.
Adventure Time, they get a cute little episode. Probably the best "representation", but it's not hot.
>a win
If I wanted to see good gay relationships I'd read books, not watch western animation, which can't even write interesting straight relationships.
But in terms of hot and perverted gay guys, maybe. We may finally be breaking out of "fat gay dads in their mid 40s" territory.
>If I wanted to see good gay relationships I'd read books
Know of any? > We may finally be breaking out of "fat gay dads in their mid 40s" territory.
So strange that was the most we got for a while. Hardly did we see gay or bi men depicted beyond that in animation in recent years.
I'm NTA but I'm not interested in reading badly written porn by middle-aged southern librarians who avoided jobs in coffee shops by the skin of their teeth and haven't been laid in a decade and whose idea of sex between two men is jerking off.
Or written by teenage Koreans/Japanese, etc. girls who think a self-respecting gay man would couple up with someone the age of their father, or their worse murderous villain Because Redemption, Angst or some other trope.
This makes me wonder. In the little that is available out there. What are some actual stand out works that feature gay and or bisexual male characters? A plus if it happens to be a lead and the relationship he develops with a love interest is captivating. This might as well be searching for a needle in a haystack. But I am genuinely curious to if there’s a story out there in animation or in comics.
Among capeshit and maybe cartoons? Not much. You have decent enough general comics with major gay characters who are fine, like parts of the Authority or Young Avengers, but (1) those aren't particularly moving stories and (2) the characters are in established relationships that are basically locked in. If you look into arty or self-published material, you get some more options, though a lot of the gay content is still fujo fetish material as opposed to a woman telling a story about men.
> Gay guys dating gay guys of their own race isn't a red flag that racism is afoot

You're approaching the substance (two characters who look different) from the other direction: someone announces that they're discriminatory in dating. That's not the same as taking a fictional couple and reading intent into their color. Gay guys being racist is totally a thing and has been a known issue for many years.
I already do but that is not the same as a good character who is like you
The same way boys cannot look up to a woman role model the same way they can to a male role model. To deny this is to deny reality
Agreed. Everyone goes through different life experiences, to see a well-written character who has gone through a life similar to yours can be satisfactory.
It doesn't mean you can't enjoy or relate to other characters and their life experiences, of course.
But media shouldn't limit themselves to a few number of life experiences. Including the different types of lives straight men experience.
>I can't identify with someone if they're nothing like me
I don't relate to Godzilla but that doesn't stop me from loving the character and still relating to his story in some way
Don't think like a sociopath anon

But they didn't say that. They said they can relate but they would also enjoy it if there were characters out there that of that identity. Is it necessary to have gay or bi characters, not necessarily. But to not have them in any story or actively dismissing them does seem a bit strange. Once again I'm not saying they have to be integrated for the sake of it. I'm just saying there should be more original stories and characters in general, not taking the absolute bare minimum. With the same tired tropes and archetypes.

Yeah, godzilla that famous series that doesn't have any human characters at all.
As a minority who spent 20 years of my life feeling alone and in the closet having to hide myself, I like seeing representation. It makes me feel less alone. Deal with it.
idk how you could feel alone in this day and age, when every other young person claims to be some flavor of gay and apps that allow you to easily meet up with other gays have existed for years
> that allow you to easily meet up with other gays have existed for years
Those same apps have had negative effects for years in how commodified they are.
Even if you live in a first world country using those apps is pretty dangerous. Whether you are straight or gay actually because people have used them to steal from people who often aren't in a position to retaliate. The bigger issue for people in the closet is that you can't just go lets meet in public to make sure it's not suspicious because it could cause people to realize.
>The bigger issue for people in the closet is that you can't just go lets meet in public to make sure it's not suspicious because it could cause people to realize.
Valid because I know gays and guys in general just use grindr for meth and drug exchanges. The amount of officers browsing that app is insane.
Being gay is more action packed than being a lesbian, and I have no idea why comics/cartoons don't bank on the craziness of being a gay man on the run from the cops.
Every time there is a gay ship in a cartoon it has to be portrayed as incredibly functional, otherwise they get accused of trying to demonize same sex relationships. While I am sure there are many gay couples out there, every gay relation in TV being essentially the same does get a bit tiring after a while. Especially since these shows have theme that relationships, heterosexual ones, don't always work out.
>Top left- Mizrak & Olrox from Castlevania: Nocturne >Top right- Ballister Boldheart & Ambrosius Goldenloin from Nimona >Bottom left- Wallace Wells & Todd Ingram from Scott Pilgrim takes off >Bottom right- Prince Gumball & Marshal Lee from Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake
Hey, it is pretty much a gender swapped tale of Finn and Jake. Before Princess Bubblegum and Marceline had similar feelings. Then they got with each other as the series went on.
That was a surprise to me how much Rayman and Bullfrog stole the show when it came to reception. They hardly had any screen time when compared to the lead but every bit of fan art I saw was of them. I mean good for those who liked them. A shame the lead, Dolph Laserhawk and his nemesis/former lover, Alex Taylor; got such drastic changes when compared to their initial concepts.
>That looks so much cooler than what we got.
It vexes me on why Alex was changed so much. His initial design looks straight of an 80s B-movie action flick. He has a very mature look to him but not old. While in his final look, he's much more wizened in my eyes. With more exaggerated features such as bushier eyebrows & facial hair. I wonder what lead them in that direction?
>I was just glad to see him again
I never played Rayman, how long has it been since he had a new game?
>Because Bullfrog has a great cartoony design and everyone loves Rayman.
That makes sense in terms of memorability when sticking out amongst the cast. But why the shipping between the two?
No.
I prefer one guy to be hyper masculine and manly with a massive colon destroying schlong while the other is a submissive little twink who takes on the role of the woman and has a tiny sub 3inch hard penis.
My enjoyment of most homosexual shit hinges entirely on whether or not our fujoshi overlords are writing/drawing good stuff about it. It's been okay. Getting tired of teenage xie/xirs bullying decent fan creators off the internet.
> Im bi, ironically Ive never cared about gay relationships,
Interesting, I feel differently. I enjoy straight relationships but always felt that m/m relationship’s always left something to be desired. > Im more into hetero ships to ship my main waifu with main husbando
Based.
You just helped me realize that bisexuals are just the dude that fetishizes lesbian couples by inserting himself between the girls on crack.
Imagine people going up to random straight couples, wrapping your arms around them, and whispering, "Ménage à trois?".
not denying the gays anon
I'm denying they do anything but fricking each other
As a minority who spent 20 years of my life feeling alone and in the closet having to hide myself, I like seeing representation. It makes me feel less alone. Deal with it.
No, because they're all fricking homosexuals and I may kiss men but I don't relate to any of these. They feel like they're written by straight white women.
Just a reminder that no matter how hard you try lgbt/poc representation will always be just a political agenda and will always be used just to make a political statement, rewrite history or farm a good boy points. Because no matter how hard you try, what forgotten work of dead philosophers-pedophilies-postmodernists you reanimate, all those things are always either unnatural or lies and therefore cannot sustain themselves. Postmodern was stillborn.

Nimona was legitimately great and it's refreshing to see masc gay dudes in animation without it being the main plot of the story.

Huffpo, the advocate and OUT are false flags? Good to know! You hear leftypol here? Racisim is solved. It was just those pesky chuds again. Try again, dickless.
>Huffpo, the advocate and OUT are false flags?
I was responding to
and their comment about Elon's Cess Pool of Idiotic stupidity:
>I remember seeing plenty of complaints about that on Twitter.
I was not responding to any comments about HuffPo (which is a piece of garbage that barely passed for a journalism aggregator in Arianna's heyday and now is just barely spell-checked click-bait nonsense.
Out is a collected repost of Instagram beefcake, days old gossip, poorly researched vlogger level writings and click-bait slide shows.
The Advocate hasn't been real journalism in over a decade, and certainly not since a private equity firm bought them.
Good to know you can move goal posts and meme word with the 'best' of the other trolls and bait thread posters here.
Your dickless mother and tiny peened father must be so proud. But since you live with them in their basement, I'm sure they'll be able to express their pride in person!
Doesn't fricking matter. It's still lies and bullshit and bitterenes, twinkle toes.
Gay guys dating gay guys of their own race isn't a red flag that racism is afoot, but gay guys constantly and vastly disproportionately shown in interracial relationships is a big red flag that the creators are trying to maximize their minority points and should be treated with suspicion.
Raceplay is a sex thing. But we're really not going to map how grindr works here in Cinemaphile. Keep in mind a BUNCH of the people that say "no blacks" ARE black.
Interracial homosexuality bothers me more than normal homosexuality, yes.
I have no interacial gays
Id never frick a black or brownie tho
Do they count
They’re both warthogs.
So? For normal interracial they're both humans.
Very true. I was trying make a point about how ridiculous the prejudice surrounding relationships are. If consenting adult human beings are just trying to find love, let them. Why judge them over superficial traits?
Wait, is race superficial or not? Because if it is then the campaigns to put race front and center and See Color like the Stephen universe garbage are shit. As far as the LGBT community, they had the flag replaced to put black and brown people explicitly on it.
Scott pilgrim is also interracial it's a human being and a Canadian
Wallace is shit.
I prefer Lucas.
Supreme taste.
Glad to see a man of fellow taste.
This
Only attractive people should be together
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, is it not?
They are all hot, cope
The duality of man.
I don't really care all that much, probably just stick to fanfic
Honestly, fair. Though there has been more gay and bi male characters in entertainment. They and the relationships depicted still leave something to be desired. If you had the power, what would you pitch?
How about comics? Was it any better in this medium?
For all the screeching rightoid homosexuals do here, comics' treatment of gay characters is still pathetically tokenistic and very obviously done for marketing around pride month rather than an attempt to tell actual stories, regardless of quality.
So basically big two comics are dying because no one's actually getting what they really want except the comic creators' own moral self-masturbation and ego.
Jesus fricking Christ if you can't draw muscles at least make the body simpler
big time I was sick of all the carpet munchers taking the spotlight. All I need now is shlubby grunge looking gays that look like me to satisfied.
Does a character like Stephen Stills from Scott Pilgrim fit that description? Surprised they didn't depict him as gay in the animation.
he's close but I would say he's too handsome for me to be completely satisfied even though that might sound biased
If you don't mind my asking. Which character off the top your head best fits it. I know there aren't too many gay characters as is let alone ones that fit your description. But in terms of physical appearance alone. Whose your ideal?
Really, we should pick straight ones that look good as there's not enough gay ones.
But won’t there be complaints of them being changed from straight to gay or bi?
We're just doing it to demonstrate, this is the hot ass we should have MORE of instead of the Yik guy and his pallete swap.
>shlubby grunge looking gays
YES.
>none of them are bi man/normal woman
LMAO
>i didnt watch castlevania beyond s1
>i havent read scott pilgrim comic so i didnt watch the show hearing it was a reimagining
>didnt watch adventure time so it didnt feel right to watch the spinoff
Am I missing out on gaykino or should I stick to manhwas.
It's fine, nothing terrible although nothing spectacular in my opinion. I am curious what manhwas you've been reading. Do you have any recommendations?
Forgettable hipster trash. But that's the entire point.
Castlevania has a church guy banging a vampire and Alucard does a MMF threesome. Pretty okay.
That Scott Pilgrim picture is an edit. All the show has Wallace fricking Todd off screen. Nothing hot.
Adventure Time, they get a cute little episode. Probably the best "representation", but it's not hot.
hell isn't real, christhomosexual
I'll pray for you sis.
> ships created so fujos could coom themselves and be forgotten about in a week
Hardly did we see gay or bi men depicted beyond that in animation in recent years.
ao3 has the best gay stuff humanity can offer. Just sort your favorite fandom by "kudos" and filter by m/m
I was afraid you're going to say that. I thought there'd be more official works out there. But I'll take what I can get.
I'm NTA but I'm not interested in reading badly written porn by middle-aged southern librarians who avoided jobs in coffee shops by the skin of their teeth and haven't been laid in a decade and whose idea of sex between two men is jerking off.
Or written by teenage Koreans/Japanese, etc. girls who think a self-respecting gay man would couple up with someone the age of their father, or their worse murderous villain Because Redemption, Angst or some other trope.
>idiot who has no idea what he's talking about
yes, your opinion is definitely relevant
Raj being a pervert was the best thing to come out of his character.
Where are the cute boys kissing? We still need gay shotas.
You're approaching the substance (two characters who look different) from the other direction: someone announces that they're discriminatory in dating. That's not the same as taking a fictional couple and reading intent into their color. Gay guys being racist is totally a thing and has been a known issue for many years.
Scott Pilgrim gay shit is the only non pozzed image there
Perhaps but I still liked the top left. Only for Mizrak but that’s it.
no. there are still too many yuri shit compared to gay men stuff.
Very true.
No. I want traps or ambushes and Americans have a fear of male femininity.
Honestly? Yes
It feels good to see people with your qualities represented in the screen
Now a few shows with gay protags and I will be fully satisfied
>Needing representation
Man, I can't deal with NPC's
I am not doing this old song or dance today. It's New Year's eve
Learn to like characters for being good characters
Not for being like you
I already do but that is not the same as a good character who is like you
The same way boys cannot look up to a woman role model the same way they can to a male role model. To deny this is to deny reality
>To deny this is to deny reality
Don't post anime, troony
Holy based.
Deal with it.
idk how you could feel alone in this day and age, when every other young person claims to be some flavor of gay and apps that allow you to easily meet up with other gays have existed for years
By being older than you.
> that allow you to easily meet up with other gays have existed for years
Those same apps have had negative effects for years in how commodified they are.
Most people are alone
When i get off Cinemaphile i will be alone
*Many happy gay couples
I don't care about homos in media
Of those four – only top left. Top right looks fake as frick while bottom two are shota
You don't know what the word shota means
Nobody knows how to write gay couples, they always write them like fricking women.
Onan... I mean Anon, gay couples aren't fricking women.
Who are all those people?
>Top left- Mizrak & Olrox from Castlevania: Nocturne
>Top right- Ballister Boldheart & Ambrosius Goldenloin from Nimona
>Bottom left- Wallace Wells & Todd Ingram from Scott Pilgrim takes off
>Bottom right- Prince Gumball & Marshal Lee from Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake
Yeah, I'd say it has
Scott should have been the gay but a good year of actual males in a relationship for once
>good year of actual males in a relationship for once
I agree, better than most. But there's always room for improvement.
Nope, i barely remember what Cinemaphile stuff came out this year, but idgaf about most of what i can.
Fair enough.
No Eh
No No
Fair.
Remember when comics and cartoons were for children and not homosexuals looking to molest children?
Pretty meh.
Remember when Gumball and Marshall had crushes on Fionna? And now they're been retconned into homosexuals, truly amazing.
Hey, it is pretty much a gender swapped tale of Finn and Jake. Before Princess Bubblegum and Marceline had similar feelings. Then they got with each other as the series went on.
the bottom ones are the best
the bottom right one is good because the black guy is shorter than the white one
Funnily enough, people are much more interested in Rayman/Bullfrog porn than whatever this is
That was a surprise to me how much Rayman and Bullfrog stole the show when it came to reception. They hardly had any screen time when compared to the lead but every bit of fan art I saw was of them. I mean good for those who liked them. A shame the lead, Dolph Laserhawk and his nemesis/former lover, Alex Taylor; got such drastic changes when compared to their initial concepts.
That loojs so much cooler than what we got.
As for Rayman and the frog I was just glad to see him again and tge frog was a scrimblo-realguy hybrid
These other characters feel so generic in comparison.
>Because Bullfrog has a great cartoony design and everyone loves Rayman.
That makes sense in terms of memorability when sticking out amongst the cast. But why the shipping between the two?
Isn't this queer baiting? He gets betrayed in the first episode and he kills the other homosexual early on
I guess you could argue that. I would definitely agree that it once again falls into the trope of gay angst.
No.
I prefer one guy to be hyper masculine and manly with a massive colon destroying schlong while the other is a submissive little twink who takes on the role of the woman and has a tiny sub 3inch hard penis.
Hot.
I thought this was a fricked up tanline.
Actually licked my lips lmao
Got some nice art this year at least
Oh frick that's a sexy artstyle but I am a bit afraid to look up more with a name like "Possumdaddi"
Post the rest pls
https://litter.catbox.moe/xvkdg8.jpeg
Yeah.
My enjoyment of most homosexual shit hinges entirely on whether or not our fujoshi overlords are writing/drawing good stuff about it. It's been okay. Getting tired of teenage xie/xirs bullying decent fan creators off the internet.
Im bi, ironically Ive never cared about gay relationships, Im more into hetero ships to ship my main waifu with main husbando (and fap to both)
Just say you're straight. Bi-Black folk are literally the worst people.
>you fap to men and women you are somehow straight!!!
sorry anon, I dont care about muh representation or any of those kind of self-inserting shit
So will 2024 have more in store for gay & bi men? Or will it be more of the same?
New year, new queer.
Bottom two is actually pretty cute, the top is fricking disgusting tho, that castlevania shit was garbo
Why do bi men exist when we only need the women?
What’s the problem?
homosexual need to frick off back to tumblr. Your kind ain’t welcome here.
Anon, you do know this board is colloquially known as Cinemaphilemblr?
Needs more gays in the military.
>gays in the military.
>kissing
lol
It's just fanart for rainbow six seige.
Although there is this pic of a russian military guy floating around that gets a lot of attention. Military men are great.
not denying the gays anon
I'm denying they do anything but fricking each other
get a personality, being gay isn't a personality
i didn't say that was my personality.
Get a personality besides being a dumbass.
How sweet.
>Castlevania
I have more self-respect than that.
geppei5959
For me, not really? Rayfrog is a cute new ship that got a lot of Twitter art but it's not canon so it doesnt really count for this thread.
And I cant even post most of it.
Anyone draw Rayman eating sushi off naked Bullfrog yet?
I think I actually have seen that.
I didnt save very much of what Ive seen though. Not much point when nobody I know cares about them.
>no Smiling Friends season 2 where Charlie and Pim frick
No.
Not bad but we can do better.
Absolutely. Couldn’t say it better myself.
>endless Lucas Lee porn
Yes it was
Sonic, Bartleby, Sleet and Dingo are the only good gays in animated fiction.
And I do mean this unironically by the way
Wouldn't say that they're the ONLY good gays in animation, but they are by far the best.
though I can't name any other ones right now
Gary a cute. CUTE!
3d anything goes for me, but Im not interested in 2d humans unless theyre fat. Neither of them were fat so they were a pass.
please stop shotafying wallace
No, because they're all fricking homosexuals and I may kiss men but I don't relate to any of these. They feel like they're written by straight white women.
Amen.
All 4 art styles are grotesque
>Wokelybood
Here are our LGBT representation
>Also wokelybood
We made them to appeal to straight women
AI is going to make thing easier for gay content, I hope.
This image disgusts me on multiple levels

What's top right?
>Top right- Ballister Boldheart & Ambrosius Goldenloin from Nimona.
The rest
That new Nick show had 20 seconds of a gay hippo in it so it was a better year than most.
>gifrel
Huh, my first whyboner of the new year.
There’s been way too much hag lover content lately. There’s not enough men into aging women to warrant this much fanfare. It’s getting bad
What are you talking about?
Too many characters appealing to guys who like women past their prime
What you're griping about has nothing to do with this thread. Leave.
Nimona was legitimately great and it's refreshing to see masc gay dudes in animation without it being the main plot of the story.
Everything else in this pic is ehh, long haired dudes might as well as be women to me, but to each their own.
Where the frick are the traps?
is down the hall and to your left homosexual
Who and from where are the guys on top right?
