I honestly think Batman can get over a killing easier than most people think. Maybe not in this case, specifically, but there are numerous ones where I think Bats would be more or less fine with it.
I know people rag on it a lot but I honestly like the notion that Batman cares about Joker (even if he'd never outright admit it). It's weird and fricked up, but Batman is a weird and fricked up guy. They've known each other so long and have been central figures in each other's lives in that time. There's a tragic element to it. Batman is often the only person who shows actual concern for Joker, but he can't help Joker and they can never be friends or see eye to eye.
>It's weird and fricked up, but Batman is a weird and fricked up guy.
Batman is not supposed to be that weird and fricked up, people who think of him like that are the same who unironically say shit like "woah Batman is just as crazy as his villains, huh?".
Joker is the one who obsesses over Batman, not the other way around.

I wasn't necessarily talking about Batman obsessing over Joker (though of course some writers do make him like that) but just caring about him in a way.
uh... what the hell just happened? why did Batman get sucked into there?
I think he turns into a spirit or something? The ending confused me a bit when I read it (Batman: Damned)

He cares about Joker like he cares for any of his other villains, he only puts more attention to the Joker because he's the worst one.

That's directly contradicted by the many many examples of him showing concern for Joker. You can dislike it or attribute it to bad writing but it's a pretty consistent aspect of his character by now.

Not when we just established how inconsistent the character is.

Clearly a popular comic book character who has been around for so long and been written by many different writers isn't going to be 100% consistent all the time, but given how often he has shown a particular concern for Joker (moreso than he does for other members of his rogues gallery) I think it's fair to call it a pretty consistent trait.

Don't forget Arkham City where the final confrontation sees both Joker and Talia (batman's supposed love) die. Guess which body he carries out?

If batman raped Joker once, The Joker would never want to leave Arkham again.
>It's almost like usually bad writers are the ones writing these kind of stories, mmhh, I wonder why?
Very few people with true writing talent aspire to comic books. Novels, sure. Script treatments, yes. Issue #1011 of Superman? Nope.
No, I mean if The Joker was legitimately fighting Robin, and Robin hit The Joker in the head and he died. I don't think Batman would be too broken up over that; he might say "I wish he were still alive", but I don't think he'd agonize over it at all.
Also >it's a supposed vision from a possible future where all heroes lose.
So, when the heroes lose, The Joker dies and is humiliated. When heroes win, the joker breaks out and maims countless people for laughs. Are we on the bad side?
>So, when the heroes lose, The Joker dies and is humiliated. When heroes win, the joker breaks out and maims countless people for laughs. Are we on the bad side?
I think it's framed more like the Joker is being used as bait for Batman, he gets killed in front of Jon in that same vision, and the BatFamily all job to the Jon's villain too.

He'd spaz out and might kill the Robin, depending on if they were trying to kill his husbando.
1.) I'm mostly referring to modern incarnations of Batman. Batman could really be a moron when it came to the Joker in some comics, but I feel like he's more consistent in the modern comics. Although that doesn't always matter because
2.) It depends on the writer. Sometimes batman is written so dumb that you'd think he loves The Joker more than anything.
Also, the writer of that comic eventually made up for the "batman cutting Jason's throat" thing in the animated version of this. I think the animated version is way better and more compelling, so I feel like I have no reason to be upset with this version of the events. I'm still going to be though.
So with the sliding timeline villains like the Joker break out of prison several times per week. Considering this why haven't the citizens of Gotham made a petition to make death penalty legal since clearly the current system doesn't work?
>why doesn't Superman just send The Joker to the Phantom Zone?
We would get the LEGO Batman but played straight, I could see it being a big crossover event, at least between Batman and Superman.
so the joker presumably would think he wins if he brought batman over the edge, and got killed by him. how about a scenario where batman, without any particular provocation, decided to hunt down and kill the joker. would it mindfrick him?
because the joker sales and has just as much plot armor as batman, same as most other popular villains. You can't find ways to permanently deal with them and even if you did some hack would bring them back in a few years
>joker can’t actually hurt anyone, no matter how hard he tries >he is reduced to an actual clown, Kandorians just laugh at his zany over the top slapstick as he desperately tries to kill a race of invulnerable super scientists
Frickin write it anon
this is even worst since its impossible to escape from braniac once he has you caged.
you know damn well hes going to ship you off into on of his space vessels floating either in the vois between galaxies or worst still you get sent to the original braniac who lives in the bleed and that muthafrickers basically space computer cthulhu.
capeshit world doesn't make sense when you don't update all the rules, yeah let's make the tone more "adult", "dark". "violent" but let's keep things like "Next time I will kill you Batman!" when all the villains should be dead and no to mention the "if a hero kills someones, he is over and probably will become a villain" yeah tell that to all the cops killing drugdealers
The nokilling rule is only a popularity contest. If Joker was just a random goon there wouldnt be any "moral discussions" about killing him. But because he has lots offans the writers can never kill him or sent him to prison permanently, he is always brought back to boost sales and nothing more.
Much like in the Telltale games, I kinda wish Bruce and Joker had a legitimate friendship way back when, long before either went down their respective paths. That way, you could at least excuse Batman's obsession with keeping the Joker safe in the name of their past friendship and the hopes that he can save his fallen friend.
>Superman stays out of Gotham trope
The same reason the police or some individual viligante doesn't but a bullet in his skull. Also Batman would sperg and throw a kryptonite batrang at Supes. Out of Universe? It's a money maker character.
The Phantom Zone doesn't have a much better track record than any other prison in the DC Universe, quite frankly.
What if they put Arkham inside the Phantom Zone
I like the way you think
Good idea
Batman would almost certainly get angry at Supes if he did that
bats would kill superman if he ever laid hands on his boyfriend
AU doesn't count
He doesn't look like he understands.
>ramming his chest
>not crushing his head to just wipe out that grin
Meh.
Clark wanted to give him the viltrimite handshake.
What comic is this from?
I honestly think Batman can get over a killing easier than most people think. Maybe not in this case, specifically, but there are numerous ones where I think Bats would be more or less fine with it.
>What comic is this from?
Tom Taylor's SuperJon, it's a supposed vision from a possible future where all heroes lose.
Bats fairly consistently is shown to be weird about Joker getting seriously injured or dying. Not every single time but usually
It's almost like usually bad writers are the ones writing these kind of stories, mmhh, I wonder why?

Eh, it's not like they're Magneto x Xavier or Optimus x Megatron. Joker and Batman have nothing to bond about.

Okay, I should admit two things.

Shit like this is why a shared universe is fricking moronic
so the joker presumably would think he wins if he brought batman over the edge, and got killed by him. how about a scenario where batman, without any particular provocation, decided to hunt down and kill the joker. would it mindfrick him?
See Endgame by Snyder. The moment Batman starts playing into Joker's scheme he freaks right the frick out and tries to bail.
Battroony eternally simps for the Joker so he won't allow anything to happen to him.
because the joker sales and has just as much plot armor as batman, same as most other popular villains. You can't find ways to permanently deal with them and even if you did some hack would bring them back in a few years
How in the FRICK could fricking SUPERMAN of all heroes not be able to find the Joker in this situation? God damn.
Simple, Joker wasn't in the helicopter all along
I love how this reads like batman is upset that Joker ghosted instead of having a "talk" about their relationship.
>Superman just send The Joker to the Phantom Zone?
He should send that pastey homosexual to Kandor
>joker can’t actually hurt anyone, no matter how hard he tries
>he is reduced to an actual clown, Kandorians just laugh at his zany over the top slapstick as he desperately tries to kill a race of invulnerable super scientists

because that would be a solution to a problem. Comics are about fantasy BS, not solutions.

Why doesn't the judicial system find him guilty of enough crimes to execute him.
Why do you need to rely on superheroes?

He should've been the one gunned down by some rando newcomer badguy and chewed by Killer croc, not Orca

problem Bruce?
Why doesnt he just ram his wiener down his throath
Because we dont need a reminder that Lego Batman did that.
