That is the optimal poor degenerate choice, there's always food banks for when you absolutely have to eat, but alcohol you need money or time to obtain.
That said, you should get on the homebrewing train OP. Get some sugar and juice at the food bank, scrape together a couple bucks for your initial yeast, and then in a week or two you'll have multiple bottles worth of wine for your investment instead of just one

That's only if you distill it and don't know what you're doing. All fermented beverages contain methanol, but if it's not distilled then it's diluted enough not to be dangerous. Botulism can be a concern with homebrewed beer, but most juices are acidic enough it can't survive, especially once the brew gets up to wine strength. Just watch out for mold, if you see black spots or fuzz your brew is fricked lol

I think I've been happier while weed addicted than alcohol addicted since there's less side effects besides brain fog all the time. Gyming still beats both of those in terms of overall satisfaction I feel
OP, I'm an alcoholic, and I'll be frank, there are other ways of improving your mood without alcohol that include sniffing glue and wrestling cats, but you go with an empty stomach that's a misery that nothing else will fix
