So is anyone else glad this got purged? The world doesn't need yet another unfunny low-effort "what if humans and cartoons... together??!" film. The world needs to admit that Who Framed Roger Rabbit is never going to happen again and move on.
>kid's thing...but le edgy >obvious meta humor (lol how does Coyote afford all those traps from acme heh heh am I right?) >human characters sorta looking vaguely in the direction where the animated character should be.
yeah, think i'll take a pass
I don't think it would've been very good, but I'm broadly against the destruction of movies (and other works). So much of film history is already lost to us, to say nothing of the many works in other mediums which have been lost to the ages.
We have the technology, we have the resources, so why *voluntarily* cast a finished work into oblivion?
>so why *voluntarily* cast a finished work into oblivion
Because tax rules incentivizes them to do so. If you want media companies to stop writing off unreleased projects, change the laws so they can do that and still count it towards losses.
>as if I have any power or our legislators give a shit
No shit. And you also don't have 100 million dollars to pay Warner Bros for the movie. So stop whining.
As I understand it they are allowed to keep a copy on file to prove that it exists in case of an audit, they just aren't allowed to release it for profit, which many people have said they should since by taking a tax break the movie is arguably public domain.
If the leaks are to be believed though the movie sounds dreadful.
I forgot the full details but the gist of it was....
plays a sad sack lawyer who's never won a case that gets hired by Wiley Coyote to sue Acme for selling faulty weapons that he uses in his war with the Road Runner.
>>Acme's lawyer, IIRC is John Cena and he spends most of the film bullying Forte and calling him a loser and bullying him in and out of court.
Loony Toons characters leak shit to Forte and Wiley, telling him that Froghorn Leghorn runs Acme and has been purposely selling defective/experimental weapons to Wiley Coyote and other cartoon characters, knowing they are faulty and will not work, so they can spy on the people buying it and then make modifications so they actually DO work and basically using the indestructible toons like Wiley as guinea pigs for weapons sold to humans.
>>Oh and Road Runner's in on the plot, snitching to Froghorn and Cena every time their product blows up in Wiley's face.
>>In the end, Acme wins and evidence exposing the shit is destroyed. BUT Forte gives a bullshit "you should never give up" speech after being inspired by the fact that Wiley never fricking gives up on his quest to capture/eat Road Runner.
I'm not happy about it, but I don't lament it, and I feel people were being emotionally manipulated into outrage. Disney shelved over 600 movie projects at various stages of completion, and there's not a peep about it online. Space Jam 2 lost at least $150 million for Warner. Where is this newfound level of caring coming from? It's like mass hysteria.
Honestly the level of caring of is the same. It's just that we're in a stage of the internet where you just have more people giving that same level of care.
The difference now and then is a lack of balance between emotion and logic. Your statement is completely true about how the industry destroys movies, but the issue is that the people in an outrage will never know that. They will only read the headline now. Maybe you'll have some of the more inquisitive types look up the industry. The issue becomes that there aren't that many people out there willing to educate the unwashed masses (morons) about this issue. Even then you'll have grifters act like educators and cry about the culture war when in reality it's about investors and profits.
Reminder that one thread about this movie in particular had a bunch of "anons" ragging on the film nonstop until they suddenly dispersed when the article about WB shopping it around was released around midnight last year
You already won Zaslav you don't need to rub it in.
WE GET IT
Why wasnt this shit purged?
Humiliation ritual.
Because we deserve to suffer
the world doesn't need a lot of things. and roger rabbit wasn't the first to do what it did by any means.

Asking to me to "change the laws" as if I have any power or our legislators give a shit. Frick off, idiot.

I would like that change, actually.
So should the rest of America. Every business should be doing simple accounting.

The leaked plot is apparently absolutely real
We ain't missing out on much
What was the leak?

It's a very good sub genre that needs more
hi Zaslav, don't you have another 5 seasons of Velma to greenlight?
It's a troll post, but it gets us talking about Coyote vs. ACME again, so I'll allow it.
That's why we need to evolve the subgenre by turning it into "what if humans and cartoons... mating together??!"
You could've just not watched it if you didn't like the concept.
