I don't think the exact method the world ends matters in the grand scheme. I think the bigger takeaway is that The Distraction workers were content to autopilot through the apocalypse before Carol showed up. In her action, she reminded them what life was like before, and helped them make connections with one another. Now the mindset goes from "I am going to die in a few days" to "me and all the people I care about are going to die in a few days." Carol finally found her place in the dying world, but it is bittersweet because she will still lose it all in the end.

I fricking hate stories like this. Its the same with that steve carrell movie where an asteroid hits the earth in the end. Its just depressing call me a pussy but it is depressing

        I totally agree with you.

Same reason why I don't watch slasher films or anything that makes me angry or depressed. If I wanted to see bad things happen to innocent people, I'd turn on the news.

I like slasher films and seeing people blown up and shit, thats the weird thing i am a sadistic frick, but some pretentious wannabe bojack show where everyone died in the end and the point of the show is that life is short and meaningless just depresses me. I know that doesnt make sense

It's because life is short and meaningless, and how you choose to deal with it is up to you but in the end it won't change a thing. Meditating on that isn't for everyone, a lot easier to go after distractions.

I still contest that life has meaning, cosmically we dont know what the fricks out their and the fact that all our horribleness on earth means nothing in the grand scheme of cosmic gods and elder things and other alien and extra dimensional species gives me some form of comfort. I still dont like the idea of humanity all dying necessarily as much as i hate it because there are still (some) good people and admittedly im not suicidal all the time and i still enjoy life alot so i dont want to die or for us all to die in a giant meteor explosion

Honestly, for me it's the same, but it's not really because it's 'sad' but because it's just lame.

oh, boohoooo, it le sucks and everyone is going to le die. it's droll and boring. there's no tension, you know they'll die anyway.

Personally I like ending that go against a traditional happy ending without being too depressing. To each their own.

The point is that we're all going to die, but at least if you die having made loved ones and connections then it wont feel like a waste. We all die. In real life we all die alone. In Carol they all die together and everyone has to deal with it at the same time. It's an uncomfortable topic but we need to think about things like this before we die so we can be more prepared. If we're lucky we end up dying slowly in a hospital bed. Better to be mentally prepared and ready for it than freaking out and panicking the whole time. We're all going to die. Better to own it and be at peace with it, no?

I didn't like this show because my suspension of disbelief was shattered when they showed the HR lady having basic empathy

We're not watching the best and brightest here. Elon et al probably have their own plan going on.

Carol & The End of the World was not meant to be binged all in one go. It is the definition of Slow Burn.
