so like are the monsters real? do the cards actually contain spirits or monsters of whatever or is it just a game? When we see the monsters in a duel is that some kind of hologram to make the game more exciting or is it just for us the audience?

>I have two personalities.
>Nicest person you will ever meet and…
>Twisted fricking psychopath.
God those early chapters were really something.
When I was quite young, around 8 or maybe 9, I could beat everyone at my school at the Yu-Gi Oh! TCG. Everyone, no problem. Could even do it with someone else’s deck. It didn’t matter. Friends took me to different schools and I would beat everyone there too, again no problem. Decided to take it seriously and go to a proper tournament in a different city. YGO was at its peak of popularity then I think, and it was so fricking crowded, we had to cue up two blocks away for the sign in. All that time in the line I was just sizing up my potential opponents. Trying to see decks through transparent plastic deck cases, spying on dudes doing friendly matches during the cue, looking into eyes to guess at personalities and their tactics. Meditate on my tactics. Wonder what I’d say when I’d finally win.
Anyway, everyone else was over 20 and I got completely destroyed.
Your a third rate duelist with a fourth rate deck
Yeah well homie u gay
yu gi oh is designed to be a fun casual game where everything is balanced. tournament gays just reduce it down to a soulless meta you're better off playing with friends.
They design certain cards and archtypes to he high tier. So I have directly refuted your central premise.
No one actually knew how to play Yu Gi Oh where I was at, including me.
I got BTFO the first time someone who knew the rules wanted to play with me, my deck just didn’t work because it was filled with 5x copies of Jinzo and shit
the one that gets the highest star monster first wins
>Man-eater Bug has entered the chat
My entire primary school collected Pokemon cards. I only saw people try to play the game once, and it was purely "bigger number wins."
I'm convinced nobody under 18 actually played card collector games properly.
>My entire primary school collected Pokemon cards.
Same. We just threw those gay energy cards out.
In duel monsters they are real yes. They were demons or whatever sealed into blocks of stone so the egyptians could fight off their enemies.
Ok but how did the egyptians find and seal a beaver?
Between Mana's legs
>this is what japan thinks egyptians look like
still more accurate than WE WUZ
Pretty much. What do you think they looked like? …Black folk I assume??
>how did they find
a millenium item can scan your inner energy, if you are bad you have high chances of having a monster spirit within you
>seal
a millenium item exorcises the monster and another item can seal it away
The video game they play is basically just Skylanders. They put the card on the thing and the monster hologram appears.
That said it’s a complicated question because the monsters are real because the creator of the game was visited by the gods and drew the monsters based on hieroglyphic depictions of the real ones from ancient times when real magicians would summon them to have kaiju battles against each other.
All that said if someone with a Millenium item decides to turn the duel into a shadow game, the monsters they play on their duel disks ARE real and you lose your soul if you lose the duel. So. That’s the best answer you’re gonna get.
Kaiba made them extremely realistic in order to put Yugi's grandpa's life at risk and force Yugi to accept his salty rundown. He even tested it and killed people with it. This is never really explained in the anime so it looks like grandpa just gets a heart attack because he's moronic.
Why doesn't grandpa realize he's not sustaining injuries from holographic attacks? Is he stupid?
He’s not hurt he’s being driven insane by real demons in front of his eyes.
Real demons who aren't doing anything to him.
listen they look extremely real OK
but its worth noting that his entire inspiration for doing so was when Yami Yugi and Kaiba first faced off in a Shadow Game which made the monsters come to life on the table, and his punishment of being trapped inside of a card to experience "death" over and over was also emulated by Kaiba's Solid Vision.
kek, why would you want to drive players of your merch insane
Kaiba was a little kooky himself.
The protagonist has severe schizophrenia.
there are real monsters but it takes a ridiculously long time to get to them
Yes. And every time a monster dies in a children's card game it dies in another universe. So whenever Yugi sacrifices a monster the corresponding monster really dies.
BAKA
I knew the millenium puzzles all had their own poweres but i never realized that YU GIs was that his called the card he needed to the top of his deck. Just figured heart of the cards was a trusting in blind luck and never giving up, not that he was cheating.
Metagays ruined this game even from the beginning. Kids had so much fun with Yugioh because they played it like the show and made up rules. The creator would've preferred to see it played for fun like that rather than what it became though it did make him insanely rich.
Ok shitter now say that without crying.
Well go play with adults and make up your own rules.
The rest of us want consistant rules so we can indulge in strategy.
Metagays ruin everything but the game was ruined by powercreep and 10 million year long combos. Late Zexal era was the last time playing was actually fun,
Why are you overthinking a cartoon made to sell cards and bubblegum to 4 year olds
Because Kaiba will complete the system of German Idealism.
>Nietzsche
>Idealism
Everyone in this thread is confirming that 12 year olds couldn't understand tcg. And you think its aimed at 4year olds.
You are the same people who make threads about how the cards are too wordy and hard to understand.
I'm starting to figure out the pattern of yugioh whiners. Wherever they feel weak they will say "Childrens card game!" and try to shame you into silence. Than they will go back to whining about this or that with the utmost seriousness. Actually playing the game is shameful while whining about "mai childgood" is not right?
As a YGO expert and Chad the game is perfect. Basically just chess that takes higher IQ to play.
also forgot to say that the chess players must buy their own pieces for a total of 500$+ tip if they don't want to lose within the first move (they will still lose due to bad rng if they lose the coinflip and go second with a bad hand)
The cards aren’t that expensive, YGO is easily the cheapest TCG to build a perfect deck. Also get gud.
Yeah there's a pattern of "How can kids understand this!" and then in the same breath they'll complain that they don't understand basic rules of the game that even kids understand I.E. how to synchro summon (a now 14 year old mechanic).
Some of them are based on the spirits summoned in shadow games like the feral imp or blue eyes, but it's never said that all of them where and some are explicitly mentioned as being pegasus' own creations like the toons.
>To me, my Six Sams
Together were were so OP they had to ban half our deck, same as the little pilot birds. Too fast for the casual duelists that they wouldn't stop crying to the mods
Everything is at 3 except for Gateway of the Six.
That's what I meant. The deck was ruined when they began limiting Gateway in tourneys.
Gateway loops can take hours and no one wants to play against that shit.
