The fire in question was also kinda dumb, it's a birthday cake fell on the floor and the candles caught the circus tent on fire. The speed of it you would think everything was sprayed with gasoline prior.
Herb was at least realistic in that sense, just not emotionally satisfying for the viewer, which was the point.

The show went from edgy randumb comedy to Steven Universe drama pretty fast, every episode is about the characters crying and talking about their relationships with each other now.
S1E1 is about Stolas’ failing marriage and how it affects his relationship with Octavia.
Its always been an SU-styled drama. Built up magical world that is only showcased off-screen with extra social media posts but has zero effect on the actual plots which revolve entirely around highschool tier drama.
Ill never understand why writers these days go through all the trouble of making up a semi-unique world when all they want to do is stick modern day grievances and drama into it. it just continually undercuts the drama which isn’t saying much when its all soap opera tier melodrama.
at least its actually animated i guess.
