most adult women are mentally children and adult men frick them anyways and everyone is fine with.
most children are not mentally adults and if i felt up a 5 year old on the playground it doesnt matter how mature, adult, etc that 5 year olds brain is; im going to jail

            Anonymous

Yes because the sex isn't that graphic or degenerate. It's normal sex. The sex scenes aren't very long. The camera never really stays long on a tit shot or butt shot. That scene of Sydney sweeney get naked for photos and getting fricked is way more graphic than this movie. They stay on her breasts for minutes at a time. In poor things the sex scenes are like jump cut montages. You see a tit for 1 second then it's another position and its over before you know it. The sex scenes are also really funny.

She starts with a baby's brain but it rapidly develops beyond that; by the time she's on the boat she's reading Emerson. There's some ambiguity about what her mental age is at different points because her IQ, her grasp on language and her comprehension of social and societal norms are all out of step with each other. Even when she is clearly functionally adult her sentences are wonky, like someone who speedran growing up in a matter of months. The premise is basically an excuse to explore different aspects of society, morality, norms etc. through the perspective of someone with the capacity of an adult but the sense of wonder and curiosity of a child, someone completely unfamiliar with social norms or any sense of "this is just the way things are."
I understand why people feel icky about the premise given what we know about Hollywood, but the movie is not at all the pedobait people are assuming it is. There is no scene of her having any childish mannerisms while having sex, and while the movie has a lot of sex and nudity it is all shot very clinically and detachedly, definitely not in a way designed to eroticize.

I think it's brilliant how it manages tk recapture the horror of the original Frankenstein. Nowadays the idea of bringing the dead back to life using body parts is nowhere near as horrific as it was in the 19th century because we're both used to it and the sacredness is no longer as prevalent. By making a monster that attacks our natural disgust against the sexual abuse of minors the movie recaptures the horror the original novel would have had on its contemporary audience.

        >"Yes but its a child's mind, they don't understand and aren't capable of proper decision making"

        >"but boobs"

THE BODY DOES NOT MATTER. THE MIND MATTERS.

          Anonymous

A third of the way into the movie she's reading Emerson, so obviously she does not have the mind of a two year old by that point. It's undeniable looking at tge actual movie that her mental age accelerates far faster than an infants brain in an infants body would. That's not a "but she's very mature for a 13 year old" argument", its an argument that this is a sci fi premise operating with its own internal, non-scientifically plausible logic to create a character with the capacity of an adult but a childs lack of predispositions about the world, and your argument is a complete reach
You even have the Margaret Qualley character in OP's image who undergoes the same operation but remains at the IQ of a child as a stark contrast to Bella, and nobody in the film breathes a word about sex with her.

They often play out in wide shots and go by in fairly quick montages. If you have a thing for Emma Stone I'm sure you can jerk off to them but they don't lend themselves to it. If you've seen other Lanthimos movies you can imagine him shooting a sex scene the way he'd shoot any other scene.

There's plenty of Emma Stone nudity.
As other anons have said, the sex scenes are not "erotic" they're either jumpcuts where you see nothing or meant for humour/disgust.

That said there is one scene where Mark Ruffalo is fricking her and there's a closeup of her big bulbous nipple and another scene where she takes her skirt off, revealing her bush and the fact that she was walking around all day without panties on.
      I found these erotic.

This movie was garbage on so many levels. I'm usually into some of the darker stuff but it came off as a contrived replica of macabre comedy. My wife and I were trashing this movie for a good week after we saw it.

The part that agitated me the most was the level of 'genius' she obtained. Going off memory but wasn't she still in the infancy phase when she was with the doctor? Then she travels off with the hulk guy and reads a few books and now she's the smartest person in the room and is well versed in medicine or whatever. She couldn't even speak when she was with the doctor but the movie acts like she studied under the guy. Even worse they're not even related so none of it makes sense.

She's literally a fricking moron the whole movie and her acquisition of some linguistic intelligence simply tricks people into thinking she is smart. I don't understand how people miss this. She's a moron the whole movie. She only knows things from hanging around other adults. I thought the mention of 30 francs for sex and the guy saying that seems quite low was quite obviously showing this fact. It's all an act.

My interpretation was that she was just socially moronic because of her upbringing which makes sense. Because of this unique upbringing she gets the freedom to act 'quirky' and 'different'. If I go to Indonesia and don't immediately understand the purchasing power of their currency it doesn't make me a moron, just ignorant.

I don't recall the book but she was reading like Kant or some other philosopher implying that she ascended into the realm of higher intelligence.

I could see that if she wasn't still prostituting herself. Plus, books don't make you smart. My point was that having discussions with only adult made her appear to have the capacity to hold intelligent conversation. I haven't read the book, so I can't comment on that. It didn't seem like flowers for Algernon type intelligence.

            >Plus, books don't make you smart.
Did you read that in a book?

The whole point of showing her reading it was to imply intelligence. I can't imagine the director purposely framing that detail with any other intent.

And she's holding intelligent conversations but she's doesn't the have capacity?? She obviously had command of language by the end of the movie so you lost me here.

I think trans kids aren’t real and I liked this movie. I thought it was funny when she starts crying about the poor.

The movie was bizarre but I kind of liked it. It had at least 7 sex scenes though.

A lot of people walked out my theater too.

Sex is a part of the human experience and it's valid to examine it through art and the stories we tell of ourselves. Sorry, Christcuck, that you're repulsed by the very human thing that gave you life and allowed you to shitpost in here.

Feminist trash. Entertaining but ultimately evil. That’s all I have to say about it.

Having watched the movie a few hours ago, I thought it made its point as clear as day, but of course, because its a dark comedy where most of the cast is morally reprehensible, some are bound to take offense or to see its premise as an endorsement. So, just another day in the movies. I was pleasantly surprised at my theater's audience though, I think that was the most laughs I've ever heard.
