it would be interesting to see how they would develop but "medieval tier" is pretty far off. imo one of the defining advances of the medieval era over classical is in metallurgy and that is so far beyond native development (if we assume anything similar to old world metallurgical advancements) that it would be more apt to say they could develop into proper bronze age in a few hundred years and still be impressed

2. If he shouted and tried to wake everyone up, he would give himself away, get killed/captured first, and wouldn't be able to hide his wife and son.
