Apparently they intended to have her as a NPC in the base game, made a sprite for her, but later in development decided to not do it. So, they are aware of her, and if they wanted her to be just a NPC cameo, there would be no reason to remove her. I think that maybe they wanted her to be playable from scratch, but she wasn't iconic enough to be part of the cast so she'd look off in the main cast. Now that they are making a DLC with other characters, they have the perfect opportunity to add her in.

If they wanted her to be a salamander they'd have made her literally any other color than green, plus there's the Lisa = Lizard thing. So she is a lizard and thus has a cloaca.

Can we stop pretending Mondo is a popular character already? The most popular characters in franchises are those that expand the mythos and fulfill universal archetypes. Mondo does nothing of the sort. Mondo remind me of Leatherhead who is simply a superfluous character. They both get brought back across different TMNT media but they have basically nothing to do except be a callback.

Ninjara is a character no one cares about. She's not interesting and her creator is a hack. He's literally a, she's my character I'm taking her away with me to make comics about her! He only made like one volume and stopped quickly after. Seems no one cared about Ninjara.
And thing about Ninjara is she's famous for dating Raphael dumping him. Alopex is more popular and she did the same thing so Ninjara despite being the original no one cares about her. How should I put it, Ninjara is Felix the Cat and Alopex is Mickey Mouse. Being the original never means you will be the best. Funny thing though for as much as Ninjara's creator went all "She's mine!" Viacom showed up and told him "Nah she's ours NOW." Which explains this cameo. He can no longer dictate anything with Ninjara she's Viacom's property now that Viacom bought the whole enchilada. The sad thing is Ninjara is just a pointless character since Alopex wholly replaced her.

Alopex was only forced to become good to have her shipped with Raphael. Once that ended Alopex had nowhere to go and writers desperately think of ways to keep her relevant like giving up fighting to open a soup kitchen and then picking up fighting again to draft those shitty weasel brats that no one cares about. All of that in a desperate plea to give her something to do. She even joined Karai even though Alopex hates Karai....when written correctly. But that's the thing the writing of the comic has been irreparable shit for years.
IDW TMNT writer always wasted the potential of many new characters. Even some old characters from other series. Like Bishop and Null.
Bishop could have been a great long running villain but once they revealed he was a midget who was one note evil and even a hypocrite he was permanently damaged. And Null was ruined when it was revealed she was just another alien. Being a demon gave Archie Null his own style and flair. But just being another alien doesn't make her that different from Krang. I guess the difference is Null wants to enslave mutants while Krang wants to genocide Earth. But still nothing too impressive.
And I think one of the most wasted characters was Hob who was a good villain but now the hack writing demands you see him as a hero.
He's supposed to be an extreme avengers, a guy who obsessed with eradicating all mutants because his family or friends were killed by them. He might even see the Foot, Stockman, Null as his targets because they make mutants or have mutants as their minions. Also, the government and the army are not weak and incompetent. Bishop led a group of highly trained EPF elites. They're just like Anti-Ajin Special Force from Ajin manga. Not even Shredder and his foot ninjas and mutant minions dare to confront him head-on.

I always had this fan theory that the red sky cursed the turtles or something, causing them to look more villanous, but then they knew they went too far (the producers) so they toned it down, causing them to look more depressed instead.

If you want to compare her to someone in existing turtle media, she's like Angel from 2003 (specifically when Angel first appeared and was trying to join the Purple Dragons) or Danny from the first TMNT movie. She was a kid that got lured into an evil ninja gang and was ultimately saved from that life by the guys.
The main difference here is that
1. She'd been part of that gang for a while before the Turtles got her out
and
2. She got, y'know... turned into a turtle.
She's not a great character (Campbell did a better "female Turtle" with Frankenvenus) but it's disingenuous to compare her to Zach.

Maybe Fred Wolf writers felt that keeping Mona Lisa around could sour even more the relationship with Eastman and Laird and they just let her go from the original plan as a recurrent character. This also happened with Zach or Lotus. Maybe just another small role, like the episode with Lotus, no major character development because it was the 80s cartoon, even Don Turtelli have more apparitions.
To me, Mona Lisa, Zach or Lotus would be great, but I already know that will be the Punk Frogs.

I just played the demo as Major Disaster (Given how he was the coolest member) and I thought it was fun. Especially tossing enemies around.

the problem is that its basically a old school beat em up with infinite health, the only modern thing it does is add a power bar that fills up as you do combos to enemies so you don't lose health doing your special attack, but the combo stops within a milisecond so you cant even get big combos with out cheesing the game because your jab can stun lock everyhting

Always approach enemies diagonally or vertically
You gain special stocks by beating enemies (which fills the gauge slowly) and taunting (which fills it instantly). When you clear a enemy wave and see the sign telling you to proceed, always taunt to fill up your stock. And when you get a safe spot during a enemey wave or the boss is doing one of their attacks that doesn't target you directly, you can also use this opportunity to taunt. Special attacks are completely invincible, deal a tton of damage, and cover a lot of space, allowing you to kill a bunch of enemies or do a lot of damage against bosses
The dodge is very useful when dealing with enemies that have attacks with autoguard, bait their attack, dodge back and then press attack to immediately home on the enemy with an attack that will stagger them
The easiest characters to begin with are Donatello and Leonardo, the hardest are Sphincter and Michaelangelo
Start playing on Chill, but if you're finding it too easy, switch to Cool. Gnarly is another story, enemies deal much more damage and are more aggressive

Anyway, a lot of characters I hadn't thought of, and most I wouldn't mind seeing, but it occurs to me Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa would probably be too similar to release both at once. Something occurred to me, and granted I haven't seen every single TMNT episode.
I seem to remember an arc where the turtes each got sent to a different dimension. Leo went to a version of ancient Japan and met Usagi, Donatello went to the future, Mikey went to a super hero comic book universe, and I forget where Raph went, like a Noir setting or something. Since this is called Dimension Shellshock and Usagi has been revealed, maybe it'll be three others who each would have come from one of the other settings? Bugman might possibly come from the comic universe? Always kind of hated his design though to be honest.

Next Mutation Splinter is honestly somewhat neat in that he expresses the viewers frustration with the turtles being a bunch of annoying idiot jackasses. mona lisa is going to be in it, in the background, they were asked about the datamined sprite and said pretty much that when they were approached with the usagi deal they moved certain characters from the base game story mode to backgrounds in the dlc
