On the contrary, despite the cutscenes they revel in the fact that they’re video games more than almost any other series. Making an actual movie is a terrible idea.
a lot of things are announced and planned but doesn't mean it will happen, there are a bunch of movies based off of video games in the work that haven't moved past a possible script
It was never going to happen. You know how many vidya adaptations that are in development hell just so different nepobabies can get signing on bonuses?
Heres the problem, there's important context to the events of Metal Gear Solid that is set up in the first games, the 8 bit ones. However, you gotta go with Solid for a first movie because thats the popular one. How would they do it?
It was never greenlit. The director is a big MGS fan (and one of Kojima's countless pals, he had a cameo in Death Stranding) so it's a passion project. He commissioned a bunch of concept art and got Oscar Isaac on board but it seems like it never really got beyond the pitch stage. Ironically we're getting a Death Stranding movie, which is a way tougher ask to adapt.
i agree. people forget about the MSX games even though they are crucial entries to the series. they introduce solid snake, big boss, campbell, etc.
jumping straight into MGS1 is dumb because MGS1 is really the third game.
The bigger issue is that it doesn’t lend itself to gaying up for a female/zoomer audience. Women won’t watch anything that doesn’t have some kind of team or family dynamic either.
Remember when Amazon announce a Conan series a couple years ago? And then canceled it for these exact reasons?
Snake being played by a brown would be wrong anyway.
He's ever ethnicity other than Black.
Those "games" are basically already movies, it shouldn't take much.

So why would I want to watch the movie?
it would be shorter than just watching all the cutscenes from the game
>MGS
>Jordan Vogt-Roberts
>Not happening

That just looks and sounds wrong.
I unironically think they should adapt the very first Metal Gear as a movie instead of doing MGS

MGS has a full recap of the 2 previous games though.
i meant jumping into MGS1 for a movie adaptation.
Yeah, that's stupid. It's not like there's anything wrong about the original's story. It kind of ruins the ninja and Miller's twists.
Where's my Tsukihime adaptation set in Los Angeles instead?
>Cheap Covid Tests 34% Off on Amazon
Metal Gear is way too subversive for today.
It's peak late 90s conspiracy theories like Deus Ex, and we all know that's verboten these days.
