I'm watching Dragon Ball for the first time since I was a kid, and the pacing was just as bad as Z. Just finished the episode where Goku reunites with his grandfather and everybody there spends two episodes asking who might that person be multiple times per episode, and the same usually happens all the time, they stretch a single chapter into 22 minutes.
Seriously, it’s the biggest problem with weekly anime regardless of studio. Naruto, Bleach, and One piece suffered from it.

Jiren is as physically strong(in terms of physical training) but his ki is vastly stronger and powerful. Toriyama been trying to say that physical training is not the only way to get stronger and that you need to focus on your mind/controlling ki to gain power. In order to win battles in dragon ball, you need to have a powerful ki. With jiren, he is just reusing shit from the frieza saga where goku just instantly raise and lower his power to save energy, except its in instinct.
