So we can all agree UP is just a tragic but well done 10 minute short film followed by 86 minutes of literal mid, right?

Normalgay Cinemaphilentrarian opinion
The opening sequence isn't as remembered to me as the other parts of the film
>It's a completely normalgay take
>But it's also contrarian
Do you homosexuals even think about what you're saying before you post blatantly contradictory shit like this
Do morons like you even try to understand what you read at all?
I said it was a normal take against Pixar. This is the kind of shit that every homosexual who wants to feel apart from normies says.
>It's a normal take
>It's what people that want to feel apart from "normies" say
You're a fricking moron, holy shit. Also the term is normalgay, you fricking normalgay.
Absolutely nothing wrong with what I said. Those morons are like the goths and emos who say how they aren't cookie cutter while being part of the most basic counter cultures where everyone looks and acts the same.
For years I've seen people repeat the shit said here and think they are breaking the mold with it.
NTA but you literally just posted what he was criticizing you for, you're just posting two completely contradictory statements and acting like it's obvious what should be inferred. Something that's a popular opinion isn't said by people to try and stand out from the crowd. If I said "The Beatles are a good band" that's not some contrarian opinion.
Two seconds of proofreading saves everyone from meaningless shitposting.
>I said it was a normal take against Pixar.
>This is the kind of shit that every homosexual who wants to feel apart from normies says.
Ok anon. Reread what you just wrote and tell us what's wrong with it.
>A contrarian normie take
You are the moron
The only people that have this garbage opinion are contrarians and morons that have never seen the entirety of the film. The Emotional climax where Carl reads the rest of Ellie's adventure book is easily more powerful and resonant than the married life sequence.
>mid
You're being generous.
>the movie is good because it emotionally manipulates me instead of earning my feelings
Are you for fricking real?
Another day, another Cinemaphilentrarian pushing the most basic takes against Pixar.
Up is a tragic but well done opening followed by a very fun adventure movie.
But I do wonder if Up and Wall-E started as short projects and they decided to extend into full movies latter.
This was a really good movie. It actually makes me sad and feeling emotion from a movie doesn't happen very often anymore for me. Up is one of their best films.
Up had the "jumpscare" of sad scenes. It was like seeing a puppy die. You just get sad from a natural reaction, not because it earned it.
I don't agree, actually. At least, not completely. Up showed everything it needed to show, and its one of the few situations where I can honestly say "the sudden sad scene is used artistically to explain life's ups and downs".
Mostly because it had an actual resolution of her being at peace with it, or something, and not like a hard cut 5 years later where they don't talk about it anymore.
Being barren is not "one of life's downs". There isn't a situation where you would not feel bad for a women who found out she's barren. That's why it worked with 15 seconds of set-up. The journal had no impact for me because it was bullshit. He couldn't have known her so poorly to think she had regrets. It was always about him. And he sucked ass, so I didn't give a shit if he had regrets or not or if the journal alleviated them. He was all around terrible. Both as a person and as a provider. How do you not afford a single vacation all your life? Thank god they didn't have children or they would have starved to death.
Pretty sure I've seen your ass in Cinemaphile arguing about "Dance of the Fireflies" or some gay shit.
It was a cheap tug at your heartstrings
>they made a sad moment be sad? what a hack lol
/co/tard moment
It's heralded as some masterpiece when all it is is just a simple montage of happy scenes then sad scenes.
There are other movies which does similar things more tastefully, but even then I wouldn't cum all over those
Something can't be amazing because it is simple?
no in fact the scene from wolf children I posted is more simple than the opening of UP, yet it communicates much more in a more subtle way.
There's nothing functionally wrong with the UP opening. It just doesn't really do anything interesting to justify it's popularity apart from being sad I guess.
Go b/a/ck f/a/ggot
it's just an similar example from an animated film to show passage of time.
There are other example that are not anime.
Billy Elliot also has good scenes that imply the death of a family member.
Again, these are not anything to pawn over for, but they are just better more tasteful examples than a generic fricking montage stitched together by sad music
You're on Cinemaphile
Why are you praising the most basic Japshit?
There's more to life than another slice-of-life
Eh, bashing the audience's head with a terminally ill grandma is probably the cheapest way to get enotional response.
I guess it was enough to wow normies and women. idk
How is it tragic when it wasn't even carl's fault?
So what happens in the short?
His date goes well but aftwards it's implied he can't, ahem, "perform," but she says it's common for guys his age and that it's the companionship that matters. It's really sweet.
>it's implied he can't, ahem, "perform,"
Bruh, just ask Russell to buy viagra
She died in the 90s, right? it wasn't approved for usage before then.
The movie is awful. The plot with the dog dude makes little sense and the kid, bird and dog are annoying
UP was the beginning of Pixar's decline, and everyone just overlooks it because of those first few minutes. The rest of the movie is remarkably worse compared to what they'd put out prior.
Up was unironically Pixar's best.
>beginning
Yes
>Ratatouille = only Anton Ego's final scene is good, everything else is mid
>Wall-E = the Earth scenes are good, the space scenes are ass
>UP = good prologue, boring everything else
>Rat
Lots of funny scenes, french b***h is hot.
>Wall
80% of the movie is on Earth and good, Eve is hot.
>Up
Agree, but not just boring, actively bad.
>80% of the movie is on Earth and good,
it's not even half of the movie
most of the movie takes place in the space colony
Would’ve been a classic if they just ditched the human character angle and made it about robots on earth that never said a word.
>Wall-E = the Earth scenes are good, the space scenes are ass
That's the only one I don't agree
That first part was truly something else.
Yes. Everything after the opening just felt kind of pointless. Everyone talks about Ellie's death, but nobody talks about Charles or Kevin because the plot was just not that interesting.
I think Up and Wall-E are both tedious slogs that are mostly remembered for 1 scene. Come at me.
Mid
>oh no the woman i loved and grew old with couldn't have kids and died at an old age
That's still a million times better than everyone that visits this godforsaken site.
I honestly thought that she miscarried then discovered she couldn't have more. At least one kid in the theatre interpreted the scene as her losing her baby.
Yes,I always thought that.
