I watched it and it was gay, and in their multiple rewrites, they clearly prioritized the gay and trans shit above everything else, so I strongly suggest you stay away from it.
That, is by far my FAVORITE part of the movie. And seeing it with an oscar nod over all of Disney's garbage. I think that's a part of why they're being such dickwads over Coyote v Acme.

I mean, I know they went in a very different direction, didn't have Nimona gleefully murdering, no final act with her deciding Frick It Kill Everything... but at the same time, can you think of any other Cinemaphile movie where the main character legitimately tries to commit suicide? Not a "I'll go down in a heroic blaze of glory" scene, or a "I'll save them with my sacrifice" scene. A character deliberately trying to kill themselves? I think it's unfair to dismiss the movie as "safe" when it did something nobody else has had the balls to do, even if it's a less "edgy" slice of darkness than in the original book.
It's not bad but it's also not very good. I liked the relationship between Nimona and Ballister. The villain.... existed. I don't even remember her motivation. Bringing Nimona back at the end was just moronic.
As for the gay shit, Ballister a cute but his boyfriend is ugly and they have no chemistry. I don't know how they managed to make an enemies to lovers dynamic boring, but they did.
Overall it feels very unfinished and rushed but it wasn't a boring slog which is unfortunately good enough in this age of shit movies

I liked it! Took me a bit to warm up to Nimona, and the relationship dynamic between black and gold was a little too tumblr for me, but I loved seeing Nimona shift freely between forms for both fighting and entertainment, and I'm a bit of a sucker for "the character who's villain-coded to hell and back is actually a good person" stuff.
Plot was kinda formulaic, but it did it well enough and with some new twists. I've seen better movies, but not frequently.
Also, as a huge drama hound, I've enjoyed seeing tumblr get pissy over "nooooo you have to show the guys falling in love! We can't pine if they're already boyfriends!" and Cinemaphile seethe over "but I'm not a girl. I'm a shark!"

The story beats where the two leads argue didn’t feel well paced to me, it felt like they were rushing and just filling in checkboxes for the drama. The action was fun though, and Nimona has so much charisma and is weirdly refreshing for a female protagonist, cause she’s funny and charming without it feeling forced. Also she’s pure sexo. Also her VA is wonderful.

It was okay. Fun, but of little substance. The comic was better, especially in the final act. Also, turning Goldenwiener into an well-meaning idiot who simply misunderstood the whole situation instead of a narcissist in denial who had to come to terms with the shit he had done in order to earn redemption really undermined his arc.
It was a very cute found family story but some of the pacing and comedy could be cringe at times

And the heel 360 by ballister to set up the final act was completely unearned by the story- at this point it falls apart completely and you realize you're watching a victim fantasy-

It's pretty good. It has some moments that were a little cringey and were made to appeal to 15-year-old girls who like anime. But it wasn't that bad. It had a couple of plot holes but overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
