Adam is a great character that many people will be filtered by, since they don’t realize that his true mission is to turn sinners into winners. And he can only achieve this mission by dying for their sins.
Adam is a great character that many people will be filtered by, since they don’t realize that his true mission is to turn sinners into winners. And he can only achieve this mission by dying for their sins.
He’s a monster and heaven oppresses hell just like irl…..the ppl in hell are smol and innocent
The funny thing is, if they were innocent, they would be in Heaven right after Adam’s death. So literally, Adam is playing the role of God in this show in having a day of judgement every year, and putting souls into stasis until after his sacrifice raptures all of the good ones to Heaven.
I’m so sick of the morons pushing the “Sinner Adam” narrative, since they will literally ruin this entire show with this dumb fanon.
They never asked “how did Pentious went to heaven” because they are shallow, stupid, fools who have never read anything about sin-and-sacrifice system, or legit think Adam is bad for punishing people who literally deserved to be in hell. Then praise that homosexual ass Lucifer, whom is supposed to be a big loser that literally does nothing to help Adam’s kids or keep them in line. Hell is awful because of Lucifer, not because Adam exterminated sinners every year.
Vivziepop makes it clear that Lucifer is an awful father to the sinners that deserves to lose his power and his looks.
Lucifer is literally worse Mammon in this show and Adam is the one who has fix his irresponsible ass.
At least Adam has finally claimed back Sir Pentious from this literal clown.
It doesn’t help that Viv literally gives him a song card of being a “deadbeat Dad”.
It’s neat.
It’s not surprising the normies on Facebook and Instagram like it because it’s one of the few original pieces of media produced in a long time and that it easily eclipsed Invincible as Amazon’s #1 animated show.
It was entertaining enough, but the ending was pretty disappointing. How the hell did not a single fricking person in countless thousands of years never pick up an angelic weapon and try fighting back?
I liked it. The music was good. I didn't care about the characters as much as they wanted me to, and sometimes the dialogue wasn't good, but I was hooked on the plot and I adore the songs. And I want to frick Charlie.
It was pretty fun and good. Hard to get too invested when everything is so rushed but I've had fun with most of these characters and songs. It's less pretentious than what I expected.
why the frick id it have 8 episodes and not 12 like seasons usually do.
Blazing fast pace didnt really give time to let the characters simmer in viewers hearts, Adam's last smile could've had a lot more impact.
The end reminded me of sonic and the black knight, where killing the black knight was a fakeout end as merlina was revealed to be the real big bad, just like how Lilith is revealed in the end, same tone of "person the cast thought would be on our side" too.
fricking loved it though I want Sir Pentious selfcest fanart of his redeemed form kissing his sinner form.
That's an annoying trend for streaming, especially in animation. Invincible season 1 was 8 episodes but I don't know if 2 will have more, dragon prince runs 8 episode seasons, etc. it's not universal yet but it's becoming more and more common.
For purely story-driven works it isn't bad, but for shows like this that need more character interaction and are trying to work with a larger cast, they suffer pretty heavily
I liked it, but i think it's bad, everything is so rushed, making all the drama into melodrama as there was no time to buildup and develop important plot points, so when the songs come trying to show the climax of those points, they fall flat, i mean they are nice songs, but they lack a lot of impact, and a lot of times, mainly in the season finale, my inmersion got comppetely broken from how much everything feels storydriven and not character driven, from convenient stuff, deus exmachinas, and condensing really important information in so little time with so little subtle narrative, also a lot of characters didn't have enough time for me to really care, i find them interesting, but nothing else
Not bad, but nowhere near where it should have been. It feels like executive meddling the season in terms of its short length, on top of Vivzie really not being that great of a writer.
5/10
Competent not good, everything about the pilot was better animation voice acting etc, timing was rushed, story was shit and full of pretty big fundamental holes, characterization made either no sense or was rushed through.
Felt like exactly what it was, a vanity project from a nepobaby that somehow got big funding and will succeed based solely on angsty teenagers and the 40 year women who wish they still were.
I wouldn't be watching this shit if i wasn't addicted to animation.
She looks like she’s lounging around the house in a dumb nightgown, except she threw on stockings and a dumb hat so she could look avant garde in her selfies that day. This is in line with her characterization as an influencer, and I actually don’t mind it because I want to see them focus on that part of her and move away from the fashion designer vibes I was getting from her very first appearance. If she’s supposed to be a zoomer, I want her to look silly instead of appearing to have good taste.
You could argue that Velvette pushing Carmilla led to her killing the exterminator being known, led to Charlie having a way to fight back, and thus set everything in motion. Apart from that though, yeah, they didn't really do shit the entire time.
Vox and Valentino making out at the end threw me the frick off. I thought they were just business partners. Does Velvet get some action or is she just a third wheel?
Vivziepop had a whole Instagram campaign to keep the hype train going before A24 told her to knock that shit out, it’s full of lore about the characters and their relationships. Vox and Valentino are in an abusive relationship.
>A24 told her to knock that shit out
Why? Isn’t that free advertising? That shit is what got the show popular enough to buy in the first place, why would they want it to stop?
>A24 told her to knock that shit out

Reminds me of that supposed quote from a coca cola exec where he says “you don’t shut off the airplane when you’re 10,000 feet in the sky.”
She stopped it of her own free will because it was non-canon aside from the Blitzo and Stolas ones and fans were getting confused and taking it as gospel
Velvette had an entirely different personality for example
I really liked it a lot. It was fun, used Christian Mythology in a fun way. I can recognize some mistakes with the writing but in a lot of cases it enabled some really fun songs. My main criticism is that the songs in the final two episodes didn't live up to some of the bangers from earlier in the season. It was pretty rushed, but I think for a musical with two songs each episode that's much better as you ideally want each song to move the plot along significantly. I think the other overlords in hell were underutilised besides Val.
>used Christian Mythology in a fun way
They literally just used Christian morality but changed the symbols around with demons being the good guys and angels being the bad guys. It also doesn’t work that they are condemning Christian’s for not being forgiving when the entire basis of the religion is redeeming people.
Nah, it's reiterating a fairly common theological argument: do finite actions deserve infinite rewards or punishment? It isn't a revolutionary concept but the only other show I know of that's really explored it is The Good Place
>angels being the bad guys
See, I don't buy that. Most angels seem to be like Emily in that they're actual good people. The show does such a horrible job at explaining the logic behind Heaven's exterminations and that the "higher council" or whatever it is is the actual corruption destroying Heaven.
For Hell though, the show literally states that Hell is fricking shit and that most demons are awful people, but Charlie rightly asks the question of "what if a sinner can change".
If it weren't so rushed, I feel like people wouldn't think of this Hell Good/Heaven Bad mentality so much
Heaven is represented by Adam (the image of God). By default, it needs Adam to feel like heaven. So you have Adam withholding the true rule system of getting to heaven (like Christ/God did) and showcasing the everlasting wrath of God.
This also means that Adam is probably the true ruler of Heaven, but he hasn’t considered ruling it.
Anyone else didn't like the direction of the relation between husk and angel in the last episode? I think they work better as friends, everything becomes more simple and less sublte once they start romancing around, more when the romance has not much weight
So what did you all think about Hazbin Hotel season 1
>gets pokemon evolved so he can fight >does nothing >immediately dies >What was even the point? Dramatic effect?
To fit the rest of the show, sweetie.
Hazbin Hotel was nonono, not rushed, but skipped, it was the most "Nothing fricking Happened" show I've ever watched with a pacing so horrid it makes Helluva Boss look good.
The only other show with so much all idea and no filling, all idea and no execution was MLP S2-S9. Another morono show full great ideas full of potential and 0 content.
I feel sad for Hazbin Hotel fans, you waited 4 years FOR NOTHING.
Hazbin Hotel is basically like Minecraft; a direction/a base for which fanfiction be built upon.
A complete clusterfrick that really needed to just commit to a theme and a select cast of characters.
Vivzie was so emotionally attached to every one of her characters that she couldn't bare to put a few of them off for a while when the show finally got greenlit, so there are way too fricking many of them running around that all bring their own unique thing to the table. Now there's so much fluff cluttering up the story and sucking time and resources away from the actual important characters, resulting in no character or theme feeling like it was given the attention and long-running development they needed.
Biggest offenders are the Vees who ate up multiple episodes to establish their personalities and themes associated with them just for it all to go fricking nowhere because the main story still needed to go on, but there are plenty others too. I mean come the frick on, multiple characters are introduced in every single episode right up to the finale. You should not still be introducing brand new very impactful characters in your penultimate episode.
It was pretty good for the most part, but it really could’ve benefited from more episodes to space things out and maybe move the Heaven vs Hell plot a little later. Too many characters were introduced to make a huge presence one episode, only to do almost nothing by the end. Also, we barely got any time spent on the hotel itself before it was destroyed and rebuilt.
I had a lot of fun watching it, but I still might be embarrassed to admit that in mixed company, and classify it as a “guilty pleasure.” I don’t rate it as a particularly good cartoon and I can’t think of many people I’d feel good recommending it to. But I do still intend to watch season 2.
Cannibalism seems overrepresented in this setting. I'm not denying there wouldn't be cannibals in hell, but it seems to be an oddly large demographic in Viv's hell. My assumption is that it's just an intense but wacky and exotic sin that she can keep using that won't make twitter angry. Like imagine if she had to go to rape town and ask all the rapists to fight for her.
Just going by the period fashions, I’m gonna assume the entire Donner Party just automatically got sent there. And the Essex crew. That’s still not enough, but it’s also a lot of people to start with.
Maybe some of them were not cannibals in life, but became ones after they died and had to adapt to a new environment. Can you starve to death in afterlife? Are there farms somewhere producing food for everyone?
> Can you starve to death in afterlife?
No, not to death. Might be painful, though. Angel Dust continuing to experience addiction despite being dead implies that some bodily needs or feelings do carry on into Hell, but it still seems to be a hard rule that souls don’t double die unless they are killed by angelic weapons. So I guess if things are bad enough you could just suffer eternally.
That having been said, it still may be kinda debatable whether simply eating human flesh to stave off starvation is even a sin. Cannibalism, as the ritualistic consummation of human flesh for funsies ala Jeffrey Dahmer or whatever, is definitely the actual no no, but I dunno if simply eating part of a dead person to keep from dying is bad on its own.
Some of the guys in the Andes rugby team plane crash reasoned that suicide was an even worse sin, and that allowing themselves to starve to death when they had perfectly edible human bodies around would be suicide. And we supposedly know from the teacher in Helluva Boss that suicide is a sin in this universe, so maybe that rugby team would get a pass in this universe.
There’s a ranch in the Wrath ring in Helluva Boss. So yeah, I guess there are farms. Or maybe Lucifer or other powerful upper tier demons can just magic food into existence, the way Luci can magic up support beams for the new hotel, or Bee can summon tacos out of nowhere.
I admit I always did wonder where all the drugs come from, but I don’t think it’s worth overthinking.
It was pretty good.
The main complaints everyone seems to be making which I agree with are the pacing and the how it seems like the episodes became higher effort in general towards the later half of the season.
But I’d still give it like a 7.5/10 / 75/100 and maybe even raise it to an 8/10 / 80/100 if I’m in a good mood when you ask me.
Over I liked it and most of the songs were good, all the non pilot Characters were fantastic like Adam, Lute, Vox, etc. wish there was more fun slice of life stuff. Pic related would have been a better ending.

Absolute fricking dogshit, we were all hoping that A24 would take the reins and turn the script into something worthy of a theatrical release but not a fricking chance. We waited 4 years for this bullshit?!! make that 7 years since the first song.

Season 2 when comes around is gonna even messier
It sucked, the most entertaining character was Adam because he was just an butthole. Everyone else is just part of the pity party that you should feel sorry for.
I dislike it because they took away Adam from Lute
I liked it. It was exciting, it made me laugh and I liked the songs. I hope it isn't too long of a wait for season 2.
Adam is a great character that many people will be filtered by, since they don’t realize that his true mission is to turn sinners into winners. And he can only achieve this mission by dying for their sins.
Yes he was one of my favourite characters
He’s a monster and heaven oppresses hell just like irl…..the ppl in hell are smol and innocent

So this criticism must have really gotten to her, right?
>complains about red
>the little guys are black & green
is Adam colorblind?
He's talking about everything else from Hell's general color scheme along with Alastor
That we don't need a dozen threads about it
It’s literally the best show ever tho Lmfao
Cactus eat. Do it
I can’t even remember which posts I made in which threads
Rushed pacing and zero attachment to any of the main characters. Had some good songs. Not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. 6/10.
*Stims happily and snugs my cute gay demon husbando*
*Cinemaphile does the same as we dance around a fire made of Lilith, Charlastor shipper and Adam’s remains*
It was awful.
Eat cactus
rushed
I liked it. The music was good. I didn't care about the characters as much as they wanted me to, and sometimes the dialogue wasn't good, but I was hooked on the plot and I adore the songs. And I want to frick Charlie.

Because Viv was bleeding money during production, which is why she needed Amazon to begin with.
moron the show is funded by A24. They are the stakeholders for choosing who to partner with
That's an annoying trend for streaming, especially in animation. Invincible season 1 was 8 episodes but I don't know if 2 will have more, dragon prince runs 8 episode seasons, etc. it's not universal yet but it's becoming more and more common.

It's a shame it's only 8 episodes and the pacing is all over the place
It needed at least 4 extra episodes
I like it but objectively it's bad to mid
They didn’t do shit.
Mixed feelings on Velvette's hair and outfit this episode. Thoughts anons?
She looks like she’s lounging around the house in a dumb nightgown, except she threw on stockings and a dumb hat so she could look avant garde in her selfies that day. This is in line with her characterization as an influencer, and I actually don’t mind it because I want to see them focus on that part of her and move away from the fashion designer vibes I was getting from her very first appearance. True but Vox hating Alastor is actually really fricking funny so i'll let Vox pass
10 entire minutes were dedicated in the second episode to introduce them and they did fricking nothing.
Val is pretty important to Angel Dust's character my guy
Vox and Valentino making out at the end threw me the frick off. I thought they were just business partners. Does Velvet get some action or is she just a third wheel?
Velvet is a fujo. She ships Valvox.
She watches in the closet
It was implied in episode 2 that they were casually banging I think, but yeh it's just Viv making everyone gay.
She's a woman in a Viziepop production, what do you think anon? She didn't even speak at all that episode.
Vivziepop had a whole Instagram campaign to keep the hype train going before A24 told her to knock that shit out, it’s full of lore about the characters and their relationships. Vox and Valentino are in an abusive relationship.
Cool, shame its not in the show which means it is all pointless.
>A24 told her to knock that shit out
Why? Isn’t that free advertising? That shit is what got the show popular enough to buy in the first place, why would they want it to stop?
Mentally moronic boomers non ironically I assume.
One of them wasn't even paid to sing/talk.
Valentino at the very least is kind of integral to Angel’s character arc. The other two are more fun to watch but much less necessary to season 1.
I have hopes that Vox at least will have more to do in season 2, and if I had to pick one of them to just plain kill off for drama, it would Velvette.
It was okay but at the end of the day it's just me wanting to frick ________.
Any references to helluva boss?
I really liked it a lot. It was fun, used Christian Mythology in a fun way. I can recognize some mistakes with the writing but in a lot of cases it enabled some really fun songs. Consumption, dammit. Stupid freudian slip.

Mediocrity, no hope for season 2. Viv is confirmed hack.

Vaggie got worst each episode she was featured in, I was almost impressed by how much I disliked her by the end of it.
Especially since she didn't know that angel weapons can harm angels, even though she was an angel that was harmed by them.
It had nice some nice ideas, and Adam&Lute was fun. Other than that the show felt disjointed and masturbatory.
I wish someone tardwrangled the tumblrina, and insisted on a 12 ep season.
tldr: low mid, dropped
Absolute fricking dogshit, we were all hoping that A24 would take the reins and turn the script into something worthy of a theatrical release but not a fricking chance. We waited 4 years for this bullshit?!! make that 7 years since the first song.
