So, what does The Marvels failure mean for James Gun's DC?

So, what does The Marvels failure mean for James Gun's DC? You think they will scale it back a lot, or even just cancel it? No way the exec's are looking at these numbers and staying calm.
I don't even think this failure has as much to do with politics as you guys think it is. I assume it's more just superheroes being played out, and people getting bored.

Peacemaker was a flop as was The Suicide Squad
all his project, The Flash, Blue Beetle, were flops as well

He's done. Zack Snyder is gonna come back and finish Justice League. Two billies incoming.

despite me wanting the gunnverse to die before it's even born, flash and blue beetle were not made under his discretion, those were the last remnants of the snyderverse and were promptly stolen by gunn.

I think the end result will still be the same. His DCU has no chance of being successful, regardless of what marvel is doing. It was never about what marvel was doing. WB never understood that. If they left it alone and let it be it's own thing, the DCEU could have been somewhat successful. Course correcting 5 times in 7 years was legit stupid and should go down as an example of executive meddling having a net negative with every single decision made.

this, the only possible chance the gunnverse has of succeeding is that he is at least producing everything and will have a say in how connected or standalone it can be. of course most people are sick of the needing to watch movies and tv shows to get the whole picture, so if gunn is smart he'll keep them separate, aka it will crash and burn after superman and we'll all just be waiting to see batman 2 and joker 2 anyway.

Those films only stemmed the bloodloss though. The DCEU post 2019 has lost them in the region of $700m. They didn't even make the lion's share from Joker because they refused to cover the production. And the Batman didn't make THAT much money.

He is in a better position than Marvel is at this point.

Actually doing the intelligent thing and rebooting a franchise that wasn't working.
Shitsney is doubling and tripling down on their failing direction and will continue to lose money.
The consumer has already accepted that what Shitsney is putting out will be trash and have continued to reject it.

Gunn has a positive track record with what he has put out, so doing a new direction with DC has a better advantage if he is able to follow through.
Personally after seeing all the woke trash that is involved with his new universe I think it will fail, but the fact that they are starting from scratch gives them better odds in the eyes of a normie that has no idea what the frick is going on culturally.

Why are people talking about Marvel's failures when DC's RECENT failures were even worse? These movies were all produced by the current co-CEO and James Gunn's buddy, Peter Safran. Some of these movies were even meddled in post-production by Gunn in an attempt to market them better.

Hell, the screen-writers and directors responsible for these failures were all hired to write/direct the new movies. The director of THE FLASH, that was a huge bomb, was hired to reboot Batman a second time.

The CGI is a responsibility of the director.

The fatigue extends from the movies to the comic shops. I work part-time at one while I'm at college and traffic has only slowed down since I started. And the new generation doesn't care about comics. Zoomers just come in for Funkos and don't even look at comics or manga.

Since the '80s, Diamond has been distributing all comics to retailers. The market has shrunk so much that in the past few years Marvel, DC and Image have left Diamond to do their own distro thing. People are downplaying it, but comics might see a collapse similar to the '90s. My boss is old so he'll probably sell everything and retire if that happens again. It's not just movies, all comic related business might see a huge contraction soon.

Manga is doing well, very well actually. As for comics, universes ruined western comics. I remembered being like 13 and wanting to get into them, walking in a comic store and seeing the 50 versions of spidermand and wolverine, it was overwhelming and it was also stupid. I just wanted a story. Manga does well because you can actually follow the plotline instead of this stupid universe thing. Also manga is way more varied, you can find almost any subject for manga, in comics its only superhero stuff.

        Anonymous

To you, my friend, I would recommend Image Comics titles. Most stories run like 6 issues and the most popular ones like Saga never reach 100 issues and they are all collected in trade paperbacks. And NO interconnected universes. Image is also creator owned, so for each issue Image only takes like $3,000 for printing and admin and the rest goes to the creator. So for Walking Dead, Image only got $3000 per issue and Kirkman kept the rest and all merchandising rights. I think they only split profits in the trades. Image is a great company for creatives. As for Manga, I think it depends on the area. Kids that come to the store don't look at it here. I'm guessing they just get that online.
