So what happened to the good old days when cartoons had some edge and maturity?
Are there any other cartoons in this day and age in which the main protagonists actually experience failure despite trying their hardest, or even lose to the villain?

steven universe succumbed to ptsd from his life of being a child soldier. like they literally say it on screen. is that edgy enough?
>ptsd
Pussy shit.
still a better show than any of the waifu shit you like
Cope homosexual
>steven israeliteniverse
>say it
Should have shown it. That's on the same level as retroactively saying a character got raped once and never doing anything with that. Just "oh no I'm sad"
Are you stupid? He literally turns into a giant monster from the self loathing and almost destroys beach city, how much more shown do you want it?
What anon here
is trying to say is that they basically just shoved Stevens PTSD in like an asspull.
Steven was always characterized as someone happy go lucky with his life. Even when he got scared or afraid of the dangerous situations, he would still try to do it as best.
But then in SU future, after getting questioned by that one doctor about his past, he gets mentally ass blasted as if he had all his traumatic experiences in 20 minutes, and then proceeds to turn to a nutcase that belongs in Arkham.
If the crewverse to cover the side effects of Stevens dangerous Adventures, they should have set it up beforehand in the main show before ass blasting it to us like the rest of SU future.
doesn't help that sugar said she was inspired by a guy grabbing her arm at a bus and apparently traumatized her for life so now she believes she has PTSD
Lastman prequel, Invincible, Primal... Don't bet on Cinemaphile cause astroturfer
>ptsd
that word has lost all meaning thanks to gays and women claiming that trivial shit gave them ptsd, if you are not a war veteran then you cant have ptsd in my eyes
Unicorn Wars was pretty brutal
it was also pretty shitty
Where do I even watch it?
Buy the blu-ray homosexual, support small productions.
Not the Anon, but how in the frick am I supposed to buy it if they won't even release it in Australia. Looks interesting, but they're snubbing a sizeable audience.
Things got bit too real when the bad guys won two World Wars in row.
Legend of Korra. This made her the worst character in history according to the fine minds of Cinemaphile of course.
Yes.
Spoilers

just throw this thread out if you're required to do this shit op you homosexual
Is this show real? because I can't find anything about it on google.
I think it's made up. In fact I think the OP image, and this one are probably AI generated.
Found this on imgur with the date August 27, and it's implied to be from this year, so yeah.
Anon's trying to force a meme for his gay youtube essay
If you where to make a fake cartoon how would you make it feel legit? I feel you would need it make it foreign to explain why nobody else talked about it and even then it would be a long game since you first would need to put it in some list, put some screenshots here and there and finally wait a couple of years to reveal the meat of the hoax.
well first of all make it actually look legit and not like some 15 year old played around with photoshop filters for the first time ever. Not that you aren't one.
>If you where to make a fake cartoon how would you make it feel legit?
You don't because it's a stupid waste of time.
Where do you think we are?
I heard stories of someone just making up a bunch of Streetshark episodes back in the early internet. that sounds kind of fun to be honest. Take a show, fake some screenshots and say something fricked up happened.
Well of course if you create fake screencaps for some "unaired episode" of an already established property it's more likely to gain traction and interest
This. It's pretty easy to start rumors about older cartoons. Like how people thought there was a secret Kablaam episode that only aired once. Once the rumor took root, people would come up with their own explanations about why no records of it existed. It took the original creator stepping in to quash it.
>I heard stories of someone just making up a bunch of Streetshark episodes back in the early internet
It's true, I can vouch for it. It was on a site called tvtomes (long time gone), kind of a wiki-ish imdb for tv shows.
I was probably one of ten Street Sharks fans that existed on the internet on those days, so years after watching the show, imagine my surprise when, while looking for episodes available, the show episode summaries were all fake (two seasons + movie, all fake). I knew they were fake because it talked about the "movie finale", where Killamari was introduced.
But I was also young, so for a time I actually thought it could be a reboot of some sort (way before reboots were even a thing). The funniest part of all that... if memories serves, the summaries were far more entertaining than the actual show was, kek.
there needs to be footage of it
Well, first of all, don't try and make it a lost Easter European cartoon. You remember all those old action cartoons from Eastern Europe? No? Because they didn't fricking exist? Exactly. Calling it "Boto Sztoj" is a huge red flag that its fake and gay.
What you want to do is make it something unproduced. Like only test footage and concept art got made for it. Say the main artist fricked a kid or something and that's the reason production stopped cold and got memory holed.
I personally wouldn't count it because the ending was very hopeful and implied that Max would use his newfound knowledge to make everything work out. It was essentially a good ending with more steps.
wtf is the spelling? i can't tell if it says boLo or boTo and sTozj or szLoj
If this were real, Cinemaphile would still be talking about it to this day. You underestimate our autism. There is no animation on the face of the planet we will not unearth or forget to watch.
I don't know, we can be pretty ignorant when it comes to foreign animation.
A lot of the recs on Cinemaphile's must watch list are foreign.
Sure, but I do think most guys here don't have very indepth stuff of comics.
Cinemaphile doesn't read comics, foreign or domestic.
It’s just that foreign films can often be low budget. It doesn’t have that American or Japanese high budget polish to it. I’m well aware of euro cartoons.
This is true and I will not apologize. I wish all American comics in the past decade were lost media.
it was on 123movies.
I have the movie, thoughever.
This looks like yet another generated image. Put the movie on catbox if it's really real.
hot DAMN I wish this was real, but no cartoon on Earth looked like this in 1990 unfortunately
1:1 DALL-E aspect ratio
Nice try but a 90's movie would be 4:3
Ah even worse. AI art. That middle character with no head certainly didnt look normal, even for the 80's. It's impossible for a cartoon from the 90s to have that level of detail that noone's heard about.
This art looks too modern, i'm pretty sure you're making an ARG. Post the link to a youtube or a gif to prove it's not fake. Who's the protag. Before I google it, prove you're not an ARG.
Yeah that's definitely AI,
got me. Honestly just avoid women if you're going to do an AI hoax because AI's well seems pretty poisoned in regards to women.
Could tell this was AI generated just because of the metal engravings
both images you google are AI generated
Centar world has the main villain get killed off in cold blood after they realize their mistake

>edge and maturity
lol move the frick on, inagine complaining abojt cartoons in your big ass age
Zoomers don't like that.
le zoomer i am boomer
Fake news cartoon does not exist.
In the last episode of Vic the Viking they leave to fight in a war and never return, that's fricked up
Don't all heroes experience failures or set backs? If you don't think so you are probably operating with a very limited definition of failure or set back.
>So what happened to the good old days when cartoons had some edge and maturity?
Boomers refusing to get with the times drafted laws that said animation can only be made for kids.
What's are you talking about? I can't even figure out what time period you are talking about? We have had boomer politicians drafting laws for like 40 years. Or maybe you didn't mean the politicians but something else. Than again half the time when people say boomer they don't mean baby boomer or they do but they cant place it correctly.
>cartoons
>edge and maturity
Cartoons are for kids, anon
The real answer is it either dosen't sell overseas or if we're talking cool or kickass visuals it can be too expensive to produce. That's why everything has been reduced to safe toothless cheap shit. Case and point pic related being the last great cartoon on CN. It's not about making good cartoons anymore.
I liked that show. But felt more like an Adult Swim forced to be PG.
>Robotomy on AS
Part of me kinda disagrees because there is the possibility it would have been too crude aswell. Sometimes when a show is forced to restrain itself it provides better entertainment, ya know? Idk this thought could be biased cuz I loved this show as a kid and I wouldn't have known about it if it was pushed to AS.
Robotomys only sin in my eyes was its budget. Still struggle to belive it's was also shot down from how heavy and hard it went with its darker themes. I guess it was just above what CN was willing to tolerate at the time given MAD and Regular show at the time had similar crudeness. I think it taught Christy Karacus a good lesson. While I hate how we'll never get robotomy again it's crude spirit thankfully lives on in super jail and ball masters.
Well, the villain actually achieves his grand evil plan in Wakfu's first season, it's just that it didn't turn out how he hoped at all.
i'm so mad i got that twist spoiled, it was briliant
If foreign animation counts, then Attack on Titan ends with the MC massacring 80% of the human population to avoid his people from being slaughtered only for the apocalypse to happen a few generations anyway and the entire world getting reset back to the stone age.
>heard the author was gonna try to fix the ending
>it got somehow WORSE
The ending is pretty good, especially for a shonen. I only see eren self-inserters seething over it.
Guess you don't have a lot of experience with shonen.
I remember reading the "final chapter" and being annoyed about how many villains got away with everything, for one.
If you think the story had heroes and villains, then you got filtered hard.
The author just lacks something of a moral compass, I guess.
Why do people keep trying to act like cartoons were always for adults? It was for general audiences, as in, it had no age restrictions at first and then it later became for kids when cinama was considered more high art for adult tastes and anything not live action was better fit for kid to make more profit pandering to them.
I'm not going to act like adults don't like cartoons, but I'm going to tell you straight up, liking booba mc coomer designs the show isn't going to stop the notion animated media isn't a adult medium unless it's outright porn because, no shit. As an adult I'm more than happy watching early era Spongebob or South Park knowing damn well it's not some statement for validating my tastes as a adult, I'm just going to like it because it's good content and be happy with that. This site's infatuation to validate and propagate agendas with shitty narratives of what should be made for adults is rally, really fricking stupid and has been ever since Trump got in office.

AI is becoming more dangerous each day, I fooled a few anons with this
99% of the content online is fake news, literally nothing will change.
>Otto is a Rorschachgay
Kek!
Next time don't make your ebin creepypasta cartoon have a name as gay and moronic as Boto Sztoj.
ok, randall
