>movie doesn't explain or give enough context for why the Osage acted like morons and allowed themselves to be killed like she, there has to be ome cultural expalination or context for why they were so stupid
lmao
>allowed themselves to be killed like she, there has to be ome cultural expalination or context for why they were so stupid
They were prairie Black folk who only made a fortune because of gay ass land rights. Aka they were only landlords.
Basically they acted like Black folk who burned down Tulsa Oklahoma
I'm waiting to watch it at home since the nearest theater where I can fit in the seats is 45 minutes away. That plus the running time is too big of a commitment.
I really liked it, and obviously a decent Scorsese movie is easily the best movie released all year. I went into it not knowing a thing about it and not understanding what the trailer was about, but I see now that the story is too weird and wild to be explained in marketing. I also like the fact that Scorsese portrays criminals as dumber and more pathetic with each movie.
Also it didn't feel its length at all and everyone I've talked to feel the same. But it helps when you have no idea where the story is going and it sucks you in. If I was familiar with the story it would probably feel like it drags quite a bit.
>I went into it not knowing a thing about it and not understanding what the trailer was about, but I see now that the story is too weird and wild to be explained in marketing.
All I know is the trailer and it seems pretty straightforward; indians get oil rich and evil white guys show up to swindle them. In typical Scorsese fashion, it probably goes like this: >bad guys show up >bad guys do bad guy stuff >get away with it for a while >it all starts to fall apart >bad guys get caught/killed/arrested >"hey, we did bad guy stuff, but that's what bad guys do"
wow cinema
I thought it was decent and worth a watch. It was cute watching Lily make fun of Leo in Osage. I was pretty bummed out about Leo betraying his wife.
That said, all the >zomg they never taught us about this in skewl, yt has suppressed this knowledge of his ebil deeds! Amerikkka must burn!
film reviewers are insufferable. They are also wrong. I was taught about it in public school in the South, and James Stewart made a movie about it in 1959: >He is moved around until he is sent to Ute City, Wade County, Oklahoma to investigate a series of murders of Native Americans who had oil-rich mineral land and rights. The FBI was compelled to investigate after one of the murders was committed on federal government land. The FBI forensics laboratory ties the doctored wills and life insurance policies of the murder victims to a local banker, Dwight McCutcheon (Fay Roope), with the typewriter that he used.
They don’t teach Unit 737 either. Which was objectively worse than the Osage murders. There are tons of ethno-genocides that History classes neglect to include in the curriculum.
There’s a part in the movie where one of the Osage mentions going to the KKK for help investigating the murders, only to be discouraged by De Niro’s character, which I thought was an interesting look into the social life of 1920s Oklahoma.
There's a huge similarity with the Irishman. Both movies are basically about a dumb weak-willed criminal who just does whatever is asked of them until they realize way too late that they've gone too far. This also feels a lot like Goodfellas at the end when De Niro is on trial
They picked the least interesting angle to approach the story from…idiot criminals doing whatever they are told to do because they like money. No depth, just a slog of misery. I’m finding it memorable, but I don’t like or respect it.
Better than israeliteenheimer, worse than barbprostitute.
6.7/10
Wouldn't watch it without pause again. Who the frick can keep his piss and shit for 3 1/2 Bongs?!
you can tell the differences in intelligence between Japanese and their distant indian cousins
the japanese would hire foreign contractors to teach them everything they knew
the natives would hire foreign contractors to do everything for them and never actually learn themselves
It always baffles me that the japanese, of all people, living in a mountain range island managed to achieve not only civilization but to industrialize in less than a century while amerindians and africans with an abundance of resources didnt.
The US spent a frick ton of money to industrialize them after the war.
Same way that South Korea became an economic powerhouse after the Korean War even though they were an undeveloped SE Asian nation like the rest of them.
nah, before that
they went from shitty folded slag iron stick wood sandle and pajama wearing fricks in 1850 to being so industrialized they kicked russias ass so hard they turned into fricking commies in 1905
I would argue it’s a mix of chinks and Inujin types. I lived in Japan for years and I’m married to a jap they do have a strong resemblance with inujins of Alaska and Northen Canada. Even my wife thinks she looks like them.
People are so brain-broken by superhero movies they literally want Native American Batman to show up and attack leo's character
The movie showed explicitly everything the Osage did to stop the killings, mainly with their deep pockets because that's all they had, because the state government down to the local law enforcement was corrupt.
>People are so brain-broken by superhero movies they literally want Native American Batman to show up and attack leo's character
Would those people be so wrong, though? The Osage keep posturing as a powerful warrior culture who only lost to trickery but they get absolutely outgunned and outskilled the whole movie. Where's this warrior shit coming from? It's a hoax.
I actually didn’t think it was very ypipo bad. It had its moments for sure but it wasn’t nearly as heavy handed as I expected for a movie in current year.
i went with my new female friend and she wanted to leave after an hour and a half. She said she was bored but it probably had more to do with the fact that I was fingering her and she wanted to go home and frick. i fricked her
Hollywood is either israelites or Italians. It's quite unfortunate as the more israeli or Italian a person is, the less of a grasp they have on the US. Recent immigrants are cringe. If you have zero ancestry from before the revolution, it's cringe. Imagine not having ancestors who came over in the 1600s. Imagine not having any ancestors who fought in the revolution or even the civil war. Cringe.

>Movies villains are people positioning themselves as white allies >Hale and Burkhart are mentioned as being "israeli" in terms of their characteristics and behavior >Hale is explicitly shown to be a 32 degree Freemason
I see what he did there
just to frick up the insurance guy that didn't want to pay the 25k for the dead indian, Hale went and bought a 30k insurance and then proceeded to activate it simply out of pettiness/spite
Why do people act like film is dying due to le capeshit and toy movies, but praise this and Oppenheimer as true saviors and hope despite not being original at all?
I am a big Scorsese fan, but it was awful. Worst Scorsese film by far. DiCaprio was completely miscast; they should have switched him with Plemmons. The first 2 hours are just a seemingly endless sequence of > De Niro & DiCaprio scheme > another random Indian dies > DiCaprio lies to his wife > repeat
All of the characters are just empty plot devices with no personalities, so there is no reason to get emotionally invested in anything. And I don't understand why Scorsese didn't just use a traditional detective narrative where we are following along with the investigation, which could have actually been somewhat entertaining. Instead the killers are just revealed immediately and there is zero dramatic tension or mystery. It made sense to use the criminal's perspective in films like Goodfellas or The Wolf of Wall Street, because the average person can still get caught up in the glamour and excitement of that lifestyle. But these people's lives were just bleak and depressing.
Scorsese has a limited skillset. He can be magnificent in Goodfellas and Wolf of Wall Street, but once he gets out of that 1970s NYC Pop Intensity, his aesthetic falls apart completely.
Even Gangs of New York was a ridiculous cartoonish version of what actually happened. His vibe doesn’t translate to other genres or time periods well.
>All you wypipo be killin us!!!
Why did they completely omit the white lawyer who was murdered for trying to help the injuns? Why did they randomly insert references to irrelevant black lynchings?
The movie was very immersive but the screenplay sucked. Also it didn't do a good job establishing any characters other than Leo and his wife. Even DeNiro's character remained a complete mystery in the end.
Too long and too many brown people.
Too long and not enough brown qties.
very average
Didn't watch and probably never will. Scorsese is a manlet midwit.
yes, imagine actually watching a film made by a director under 6' tall... lol
so yeah
Her voice is annoyinjg.

Fricking have a nice day.
ywnbaw
Think for yourself.
is there an armond white review yet?
yeah, he's panned it
https://www.nationalreview.com/2023/10/scorseses-white-mans-burden/
not archiving the link because armond white deserves clicks
hes done it again
he's only salty because natives enslaved his homeboys too
i enjoyed the movie, however Armond knocked this out of the park. Complete erasure that hes not regarded as one of the greatest working writers.
Mid-tier for a Scorsese film, but absolute KINO compared to most crap out now
Leo's looking kinda old
He’s 65. What do you expect??
I dont watch tv or movies like you cucks.
why do directors make such low energy films when they get old? Spielberg is the same way.
Scorsese made Wolf of Wall Street just 10 years ago at 70 years old. Literally the most energetic movie of the past decade
It was soulless as shit bro.
>3 and a half hours
tldw
Evil whitey
magnificent powerful browns
I'm waiting to watch it at home since the nearest theater where I can fit in the seats is 45 minutes away. That plus the running time is too big of a commitment.
Can't you just sit in your scooter in the aisle?
How fat are you?
I wont be watching it because the Critical Drinker said it's shit
He said it was above average but fell short of his massive expectations. Most critics believe it’s a fine film that lingers an hour too long.
Last hour is really bad.
I'm just not going to watch, sorry, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I hate Dicaprio, De Niro and Scorsese
Same.
>paying to watch a movie with other people
>can't even pause it to piss for 3.5 hours
When there's some hd torrents out I'll let you know
A camrip uploaded in 1080p is technically HD but we both know it isnt

I haven't seen it yet but I say it's terrible. Too slow and boring and too long
I thought it was decent and worth a watch. It was cute watching Lily make fun of Leo in Osage. I was pretty bummed out about Leo betraying his wife.

interesting
Leo was awful. I don’t know why everyone thought he was so good.
the kinoest

that's bad news
We get it, you're a woman/zoomer/both
I don't care what Cinemaphile is gonna say about the scene, the opening with all the rich Osage flashing their money to huwites was KINO
It fricking sucks
I cannot see a woman no matter how hard I look at that native actress.

A lot of theme park toddlers in this thread. Take your ADHD medicine and your testosterone, perhaps it will let you watch 3+ hour kino
Why are all movies 3 hours long now?
To filter plebs
Presented the Native Americans more like deer in the headlights than actual people.
Maybe that is how they were, but still.
you can tell the differences in intelligence between Japanese and their distant indian cousins
the japanese would hire foreign contractors to teach them everything they knew
the natives would hire foreign contractors to do everything for them and never actually learn themselves
of course they got fricked by BWC

Right. Nobody ever spent a frick ton of money on Africa. Never happened.
the Ainu are related ones
most of the modern japs descend from chinks who got on a boat
I would argue it’s a mix of chinks and Inujin types. I lived in Japan for years and I’m married to a jap they do have a strong resemblance with inujins of Alaska and Northen Canada. Even my wife thinks she looks like them.

Anti-White oscarbait slop.

i went with my new female friend and she wanted to leave after an hour and a half. She said she was bored but it probably had more to do with the fact that I was fingering her and she wanted to go home and frick. i fricked her
Cringe
I did not expect it to be essentially a mafia movie. I thought from the poster it was a western and was about protecting your land or something
>You will NEVER have Lily Gladstone lay her head in your shoulders,
Why even live
Snorecese
Scorsese made one good movie in his career and it was Gangs of New York Shocking that he played a cuck in Taxi Driver, very shocking

I'll include the Japanese as this website is inspired by a website they made.
Lol, no.
It’s mostly israeli or Irish. There are barely any Italians there.
Goodfellas was good.
You haven't seen Silence clearly. One of the best movies made in the last 20 years
Is the score ass in the film?
The score is the same song over and over again, sounds like a royalty free track
>Movies villains are people positioning themselves as white allies
>Hale and Burkhart are mentioned as being "israeli" in terms of their characteristics and behavior
>Hale is explicitly shown to be a 32 degree Freemason
I see what he did there
I liked it a lot better the first time I watched it when it was called Goodfellas, also had less colored people and was way shorter
David Spade I know that's you
Why did they burn the farm?
just to frick up the insurance guy that didn't want to pay the 25k for the dead indian, Hale went and bought a 30k insurance and then proceeded to activate it simply out of pettiness/spite
Anyone else think it was weird when there were fade in/fade out transitions? Looked cheap as shit.
haven't watched, don't know if I'll watch it.
All I know is that the longer you look at this image, the funnier it gets. Is he always making this face in the movie?
specially the final hour, yes
that's the face he makes at his girlfriend's 30th birthday party
white people smiling should be racist
Indians are drunkards.
Why do people say this movie looks amazing visually? It looks like an Amazon prime show.
no it doesn't moron
Why do people act like film is dying due to le capeshit and toy movies, but praise this and Oppenheimer as true saviors and hope despite not being original at all?
Considering the shit that comes out these days KOTFM is like Lawrence of Arabia in comparison.
White man bad for four hours
I would frick the shit out of the crazy older sister
Shes fat

boomer slop
4/10 with an awful score
last hour is the best part, but the first two hours sap any enthusiasm you may have had
>blind willie johnson
>awful score

Why did they completely omit the white lawyer who was murdered for trying to help the injuns? Why did they randomly insert references to irrelevant black lynchings?
They didn’t you obviously haven’t seen the movie

Sorry I meant they did show both of the white people who helped
They showed the white guy who went to DC getting murdered and the white PI getting beaten up and ran out of town
The movie was very immersive but the screenplay sucked. Also it didn't do a good job establishing any characters other than Leo and his wife. Even DeNiro's character remained a complete mystery in the end.
