We discovered she's a raging liberal after she got access to Twitter.
In all honesty 90% of people are against the antagonists' themes displayed in these books: active discrimination, dehumanization, bullying, political incompetency...
WB has actually had a pretty shit year at the box office as well, all their DC projects have had massive losses
All the studios are suffering from overspending and the bursting of the streaming bubble, woke shit realistically has little to do with it.
HP is typical liberal propaganda
just cause JK hates trannies does not mean she isn't a leftist
When I read and watched harry potter as a kid I immediately felt that something was off about it. Harry having everything just handed to him without any real effort, Malfoy being an incompetent kicking bag yet remaining arrogant, but also never becoming a real threat or vauable ally... etc. I then looked back at everything I had liked in the past and noticed virtually every fictional story I had ever watched or read and enjoyed was written by a man. Harry Potter made me acutely aware that many women don't understand boys or men at all, in particular their social dynamics and what resonates with boys. It also explains why Harry Potter is so popular with girls but has lukewarm interest from guys: All the male characters are essentially women. Harry is the mary sue, malfoy is the b***hy arrogant chick, Ron is the fawning side kick friend, Snape is the stern yet heart of gold aunt. It's a vapid female fantasy with a male veneer.
I don't think that's woke, but it was off-putting.
>GX
Every single male character lusts after alexis at some point in the first season. The characters even talk about their waifu cards and there's an entire episode all about the whole school getting horny over DMG. its unironically less gay than all the other yugioh series (which isnt exactly difficult).
>All the male characters are essentially women. Harry is the mary sue, malfoy is the b***hy arrogant chick, Ron is the fawning side kick friend, Snape is the stern yet heart of gold aunt. It's a vapid female fantasy with a male veneer.
you can make vague claims like these about literally any work of fiction regardless of the sex of its creator lmao
>about literally any work of fiction
No, not every work of fiction is analogous to a cliche girls highschool film with all interactions between the characters playing out as such.
I'm making the specific claim that virtually none of the male characters in Harry Potter actually behave like boys/men, and that is why it appeals to women more than men.
No one claims every single woke project is going to fail financially. It depends on many different factors such as...
> How prevalent/overbearing the wokeness is within the film and if there is enough good throughout to make up for it.
> How prevalent the wokeness is in the marketing (Barbie had none, compare that to the non stop woke propaganda coming from the cast of snow white)
> How abrasive, mean spirited & demonizing the wokeness is. Like a film that just claims black people have it rough without pointing fingers will not turn off half as much of the audience as a film that explicitly says frick white people and glorifies/gives a pass to black criminals.
> What the collateral damage around the wokeness is. Like I can tolerate Mary sue girlbosses as long as they aren't emasculating & spitting on iconic beloved male characters.
> If the wokeness going to offend the existing fanbase or not. With Barbie no it does not so all left wing women are going to see it.
When people don't know its woke they can't refuse to go see it over wokeness and when the target audience likes wokeness it will not deter them anyway. Understanding that isn't cope.
The fact is nobody knew it was going to be woke, not even the viewers. So yes, nobody said "get woke go broke" about this movie.
What I remember instead was "for who this movie is for?" and people believing it would flop because the answer to that question was unclear. But it's 95% males here so of course we couldn't understand the appeal of the Barbie brand.
>The fact is nobody knew it was going to be woke, not even the viewer
Yeah the next cope was that after the initial weekend word of mouth was going to spread about how woke it really was and it was going to have a catastrophic fall off the following weekend. Instead it had a record breaking perfomance, better than Mario and basically any capeshit ever made. In short, Cinemaphile is full of moronic brown nazi larpers and disney viral marketers both with more wishful thinking than actual thinking
I don't think most people could register the wokeness for a simple reason: we've been too used to male characters being diminished and humiliated in media for the last decades. How many shows with the smart wife dumb husband duo for instance?
Only politicized people (both left and right), that is a minority, could link scenaristic choices to actual ideological point of views. They were smart enough not to go overboard so the majority wouldn't notice.
See something like Terminator Dark Fate (which bombed unfathomably) tripped almost all those factors.
> Woke marketing
Check - Director was putting out interviews calling anyone who hates his strong women as being misogynist.
> Mean spirited > Collateral Damage > Offending fanbase
Check - See them killing off T2 John Connor one of the most history iconic child characters in cinema history.
See them lecturing Sarah Connor for sexism for her assuming they are protecting the illegal taco b***h to protect her baby instead of her.
>No one claims every single woke project is going to fail financially.
There were absolutely people claiming this, that there was going to be a tipping point where "woke" died
They cracked the code. Every other female empowerment slop has tried to fashion women into warrior men. This cliché turns off both women and men because gender roles are baked into our DNA.
Barbie is girlie.
She isn't even the main character in her movie, Ken is. He has the most character growth, he's the most loved character, and instead of people praising feminism they recognize that the kendom was superior to the matriarchy, that Barbie friendzoning him was BS, it shows the barbies only got power through manipulating the love of the kens (redpill), etc.
It's Joker 2.0 where the creators are mad at you for liking it for the wrong reasons. A movie about Ken being himself and not a simp is not woke.
Honestly this. I’m glad the movie is going well because it, likely unintentionally, shows men struggling and that women are capable of manipulation and evil.
Having a message isnt the same thing as propaganda, something isnt propaganda just because you disagree with it
If anything being open about its message makes it way less sinister
>Having a message isnt the same thing as propaganda, something isnt propaganda just because you disagree with it
No shit. Do you understand the difference between a message and propaganda? And being open about the intent of something isn't change whether something is propaganda or not.
2 Billy for barbie?
What is woke in Harry and Aquaman?
Aquaman, obviously he looks really different from his original look
HP is typical liberal propaganda
just cause JK hates trannies does not mean she isn't a leftist
What’s the obvious libtard propaganda of Harry Potter
The white fat kid is replaced by a black, that's clearly an allegory for the american population change
He was replaced because he went to prison. The black kid was already part of the crew and got promoted when fatty got pinched.
He got caught with weed and weapon, lost his place. The black is another character
Every children's fiction in which the kids have to fight against the tyranny of closed minded adults for true justice is libtard propaganda.
Racism is bad, sexism is bad
You must be new here if you don't see why anons get butthurt
We discovered she's a raging liberal after she got access to Twitter.

All three are WB movies and this is a disneyshill cope thread (disney is about to actually go broke because of all the pozz)
WB has actually had a pretty shit year at the box office as well, all their DC projects have had massive losses

it's also set in a school, which is almost automatically gay as hell.
see: Yu-Gi-Oh GX, Naruto...

HA, gayS!!
Real men lust after Blue-Eyes White Dragon jets

Its not saying they're woke, it's saying barbie made more you autist.
Where are the original woke content?
>Comparing a 2011, a 2018 and a 2023 movie when inflation has jumped 35%
They're hits either way
why should I or anyone care about a company making millions? Im not getting any. So why care? what do you win? A post on an image board?

lmao, holy cope
When people don't know its woke they can't refuse to go see it over wokeness and when the target audience likes wokeness it will not deter them anyway. Understanding that isn't cope.
Cope, everyone knew Barbie was woke, a film doesnt make 1.4B without people knowing what its about
The fact is nobody knew it was going to be woke, not even the viewers. So yes, nobody said "get woke go broke" about this movie.

Shitty cope, most people simply dont disagree with what the film is saying
Shitty cope. Most people simply wouldn't disgree even if it was a nazi show about rape = good.
I dunno, most people who seem to like it tend to like it for Ken and his struggle (especially female viewers).
The b***h with her feminist spergout who is supposed to be the focus somehow never even gets mentioned.
See something like Terminator Dark Fate (which bombed unfathomably) tripped almost all those factors.

Never
It's not like this shit even makes a dent in Blackrock investment funds
They make that in interest a day
It's about sending g a message
They cracked the code. Every other female empowerment slop has tried to fashion women into warrior men. This cliché turns off both women and men because gender roles are baked into our DNA.

Honestly this. I’m glad the movie is going well because it, likely unintentionally, shows men struggling and that women are capable of manipulation and evil.
Everything is propaganda according to schizzos. And this thread is insane asylum central
The people making these films are actively telling you its propaganda, moron.
Greta never said a word to me

This fricking can’t be! I don’t believe it! No!
Never happening, normies dont actually care about identity politics, they just want to see an entertaining film
Reminder there's been like 5 decent sized woke releases since Barbie came out and all of them flopped
What chud movie has come out since the Sound of Freedom and been a hit? None. People dont care about politics in their films 99% of the time.
Almost no conservative films are made period because 95+% of Hollywood is controlled by the left
