in the behind the scenes stuff or w/e it said that he did it to avenge shaw

Nah, he literally kills Shaw by experimenting on her with Xenos.

The real answer is that David had a god complex as shown in the intro with Weyland. He also sees humans (and potentially Engineers) as lesser beings simply there for his experimentation.

Actually they weren't called Prometheans. Prometheus was the name of the ship.

David is progressive and the engineers were literally white, so they had to go.

          Sounds like current day Hollywoke.

He wanted a blank slate for him and Shaw, he said he wanted to create a new, better Eden.

You know what bothers me the most about this scene? The Engineers themselves. Are we supposed to believe this tiny little city is the entire Engineer race all packed into a relatively small space and that's all it takes to wipe them out? It's so fricking stupid.

      Anonymous

No, you’re not supposed to believe that. We don’t know much about the engineer race. We see one city get destroyed but that’s it. It’s open to interpretation if there are more of them or that’s it.

Those people aren't Engineers. They have different eyes and aren't nearly as tall. Engineers all have jet back eyes.

I think this was supposed to represent the last remnant of the Engineer civilization after the black goo plague from 2000 years ago. They had devolved and huddled around the last working space port that they had no idea how to operate on their own, hoping to find salvation from any other remaining Engineers. David came instead.

That explains why none of them checked on Earth or LV-223, they had bigger problems.

with how vague this all thing was any common sense continuation would just write those seen in the movies off as another offshoot of engis. Like humans but gone right for them which explains the presence of their high tech elements (like the docking port) vs low tech stone city.

Engis themselves are space born geneticists that terraform/seed/destroy habitable planets as incubators. Like you do in a lab by cultivating test samples on petri dishes. They are spread out the cosmos and have no central homeworld anymore

Why were these movies so shit?

I love the aesthetics of this sci fi universe like it is a future stuck in pseudo 80s but the plot of them is so moronic its not fair

Because you’re an impressionable moron that wants to fit in instead of thinking for yourself. Covenant is the best Alien film in the franchise.

They wanted to do the same to the earth and humans. David gave them a taste of their own medicine. But he fricked up, because those guys aren't actually Engineers. They're merely another colony the Engineers created, akin to humans.

Nah, they really are Engineers, Ridley said so.

Proof or didn't happen. He wanted to make a third movie with the actual Engineers, but got sidelined because of Covenant's abysmal performance.

I think when he was talking about the third movie he said some Engineers survived and are seeking revenge, I'll try to find it.

because david sees both humans and the engineers as lesser lifeforms, and the xenomorphs as the "perfect" lifeform, while he seeks to create an entirely new race that surpasses all three

Doing God's work. That's what the engineers designed the black goo for.
