nothing from the show is based on Tolkien's actual writings so a stupid change like this only helps to prove it's non-canon

He was a white male and he was hired by a white male. They were both fired for being white males.

He's Sauron from the past, when he was good and dindu nuffin. White Sauron is the evil one.

They use white people to get in viewers then throw shitskins at them now it seems. Game of thrones good example

Indians want to see white people.

I don't get the idea of diversity "appealing to a wider audience." If you like the setting of Lord of the Rings, you like the European character it has. When I watch movies set in ancient China, I like when everyone is Chinese.

        >Indians want to see white people.
Then explain the everlasting popularity of Bollywood movie stars you absolute shit for brains

Obviously their own movie industry distributed locally in their own language will be popular there. They still watch Hollywood movies.

I'll put it this way: If Bollywood made a Hindi-language fantasy TV series with 40% of the cast being Indian, 20% being white, 20% being black, and 20 percent being east asian, would that make you more likely to watch it than if it was just Indians depicting their own culture and myths?

you fricking moron that's their native culture, it's not that they ONLY want to see white people, it's that it's a novelty. Imagine if they made some Egyptian inspired series and everyone was fricking Chinese

        this

I'm pakistani but born in so cal, I grew up like any other millenial in america that enjoyed and consumed cartoons/anime/vidya etc, never gave a frick about or ever thought that characters need to look or be a certain way, I simply enjoyed it with my nerd friends of all races and we never gave a shit about that. If i want to see indo/pak shit, I put on bollywood.

Or do things like the Green Knight with Dev Patel, I understand some people have issues with him as the protag, but at least they didn't disrespect the source material, basically if you can make it incidental what race the character is, it doesn't feel forced.

They're keeping the original guy so he can protect to be Celebrimbor because no matter what Jennifer Salke self inserts as the ugly chick who plays Galadriel and she wants to see the romance between those two actors portrayed on screen. That's literally it

I believe that in the books when Sauron was unveiled as evil he lost his ability to appear handsome/charismatic so maybe this change in actor accounts for this?

      Anonymous

You're right, but the white guy is the ugly/uncharismatic one since the poo is to play Sauron before losing his ability.
