So why do people think the Jedi Council was in the wrong for this? Anakin was a whiny homosexual in his early 20s who sucked at being a Jedi in every area besides fighting, and they only let him be on the Council to begin with because Sheev told them to. Why would they make him a Master when he's done absolutely nothing to deserve it?

    >So why do people think the Jedi Council was in the wrong for this?
    They don't.
It's either sympathy for Anakin in his shitty situation, or generalized criticism for the short-sighted Jedi. I don't think anyone genuinely thinks the Council was wrong for not granting him the rank of Master.

They were correct to deny him the rank of Master and they played right into Sheev's hand, because he knew how'd they'd react.
IIRC Obi-Wan isn't even a master yet in Clones is he?

      >IIRC Obi-Wan isn't even a master yet in Clones is he?
IIRC one of the requirements for becoming a Jedi Master is to train a Padawan until they become a Knight, so probably not.

Yoda knew he was special, but was afraid of him. The Jedi sucked, but this was the only reasonable thing they did because it was driven by compromise instead of ideology.

Qui-Gon Jinn was the only one who held him up as a messiah figure and he died pretty quickly. Half of the Council wanted nothing to do with him at first.
I mean hell, did anyone actually tell Anakin himself about the damn prophecy? I think the only time anyone talks to him about it in the films is when Obi-Wan leaves him to burn on Mustafar.

How would you feel if you got a promotion, but it turned out it was a bullshit underhanded promotion in name only and your boss only gave you it to spy on your best friend and mentor, who supported you and might be your lifeline out of this, but your boss demands you to sabotage that relationship.

They shouldn't have even put him on the council in the first place, they did it just to spy on Sheev and feigning appeasement of Sheev. Windu always hated Anakin, which is why putting them in a room together was a horrible idea playing into Palpatine's hand.

The Jedi Council were in the wrong because they gave Anakin responsibility and status and then immediately made it clear they only did it for a political reason, not due to anything Anakin had actually earned from his heroics.

They treat Anakin like total shit and then expect him to illegally spy on a guy who's his father figure and supports him, mentors him. Who could have foreseeen what would happen

Anakin is a genuine moron. The prequels are very stupid movies.

The Jedi failed Anakin almost instantly by putting him with Obi-Wan. He needed an experienced master and they basically gave him a big brother. By the time of ATC he was already too far gone.

Obi-Wan wasn't really the issue, not many jedi would be able to actually help Anakin cope with his problems. And even Yoda was unable to do this since his advice to Anakin when he was facing issues dealing with loss was just to tell him to not care about it. You would need a jedi who has actually dealt with those issues and almost non-have due to being raised in that culture from infancy.

Obi-Wan did his best, but I'm sure between all 10k Jedi, someone could have helped him. Whatever method they went with, they knew Anakin could be dangerous and should have done something more.

The problem is Anakin wasn't Jedi material and everyone knew it. Qui Gon convinced the council he'll look over him personally train him but died leaving it to Obi-Wan. Had the council just refused Anakin joining the Jedi then none of the Darth Vader crap would have ever happened. I blame it on the council and Yoda like I blame most of the problems that happened in the prequels.

If anything, it probably would've happened even faster. If the Jedi had refused to let Anakin join there's no way in Hell that Sheev would've just ignored him.

He wouldn't have ignored him, but he would be limited in his damage from not being on the inside. Anakin probably never had a real chance with Sheev being as powerful, influential, and working against the Jedi in secret, but the Jedi council did him no favors.

It's arguable that due to his proficient heroism and all, feats and abilities, they should've granted him rank of master. It's not evil to want what one deserves. But they don't trust Anakin, which begets more distrust from Anakin towards the Jedi Order. Arguably, less harm would have resulted IF they'd really granted him the rank of master. It's an integral factor of Anakin's turn to the Dark Side.

anakin would have been a terrible jedi in general anyway if the war didn't happen.
he thrived and loved that situation because he got action that way.

Why does everyone lay the blame directly at Anakin's feet when there were other Jedi that were far more to blame than he? Did you forget Count DooDoo, who was a master and had gone through the super special Jedi training, and he helped start the war, told all the Jedi secrets and how to lure them into traps, and directed the most deadly battles?
