It feels like they were going in that direction for ages. That they were setting up something with a manly man like Hank and his even more manly man mano man dad having to accept a gay son.

Then nothing. So many seasons of nothing.

imagine being this much of a conservative zoomer that you assume that bobby was 2023 positive gay representation, or thats where I was going with it.

the joke was literally going to be that bobby was a weird little homosexual. it would have been neutral representation at best.

Because the show creator/writer's take inspiration from the silly shit in their own lives to add to their show.

How many times have we told a crazy story and changed named, and then over time and retellings we forget or embellish shit to where some guy spilling his coffee on the boss turns into a guy spraying liquid shit all over the office workers while the boss has a seizure?

Bobby was a complete ladies man and only showed interest in women, and for a shitload of women throughout the series. He was weird bu so incredibly confident in his weirdness that girls didn't even care, that was the fricking point of his character. I refuse to believe that you actually watched KotH if you thought they were angling to make Bobby gay in any capacity.

I always saw Bobby as that tubby kid that was funny in school so some girls liked him. He's the kind of guy that, when he grows up, he'll actually have good relationships with women because even if he doesn't have the looks, he has a good personality and makes them laugh.
Yes Bobby is weird, but he OWNS his weirdness. He's not hopelessly autistic like some people, he's just a bit odd.

I'm pretty similar except I can at least learn from *other* people's failures, but often I don't like a lot of media that normal people enjoy (especially my generation of late millennials) or share their same values, interests and hobbies, so I have difficulty sustaining conversations with new people one-on-one for more than 10 minutes at best, especially women. I can hang out and be friends with women just fine and have some girl friends, but I don't have any capacity to take it to that next step, even when the lady in question is very obviously into me (often they'll be dating another guy too so I'd be a homewrecker if I stepped in, I don't know why chicks with guys always wind up into me it fricking sucks). I can flirt just fine and pick up on when I've had passes made at me, but I'm a coward about taking it any further because I don't know how, and had awful experiences back when I was a teen and didn't understand people remotely as well as I do now.

I've never been in a relationship as a result and I'm still a virgin. I'm just a coward who's deathly afraid of embarrassing myself and outing myself as an autistic creep, it took most of my life to figure out how to act normal enough for normies to like me, yes I still come across as eccentric and at times intense, but I always say that's because I'm a Scorpio, which absolutely kills it with the ladies actually. I've been told many times now that I'm "charming, fun, mysterious and intense" by women that I would consider way out of my league considering my income and appearance, but I guess my autism makes me appear that way because I promise you I only act that way lbecause I'm terrified of saying or doing something embarrassing.

I don't even remember how to be myself anymore, I remember I used to be a lot more outspoken, humorous and jovial as a kid before I learned the hard way that I was very weird, now I don't remember how to be that person anymore. Sorry for the blog post, it struck a nerve.

Dude, id just date and frick those taken girls that flirt with you. You sound young like you're in your teens or 20s. A lot of girls at that age are shitty upgraders. You might never get experience at that age without helping them upgrade.

Date them, frick them, then break up after 3 months. Tell them you can't trust them because they went after you while still with that other guy.

You get some experience and maybe she will reflect on her behavior

I wish I was in my late teens or early 20's still, it'd be a lot less embarrassing to take the plunge, I'm 27. I know it's only going to get harder as I get older but my fear is holding me back.

My sex drive is low, and I'm not confident I'd be good in bed either. It takes a lot of effort for me to get myself off so I guess I have endurance, but I also have a small dick (~4 inches at it's absolute best) and I'm paranoid about being made fun of. It happened to an acquaintance back in college, I heard through one of my girl friends that when she fricked him he had a small dick and didn't last long, and this big group of girls she was hanging out with were all making fun of him. When I said that wasn't something he could control and that'd be like making fun of someone for having tiny breasts (hers are which is why I mentioned it), she laughed and said he deserves it because "he's a prick anyways" and everyone there agreed about that (to be fair he was).

I don't want to frick some cheater, I want to make love to a woman I have an emotional connection with, but I'm having extreme difficulty finding someone in my age range that wants anything serious (23-32). Dating an 18-21 year old at my age would be creepy, desperate and pathetic, and women older than 32 already have expectations about what you're bringing to the table, which wouldn't be much in my case since I'm a weird virgin pauper with no dating experience. At that age they want a "real man" not a weird manchild.

I've resigned at this point to dreams and supporting relationships around me as best I can. If I won't ever experience love like that in my life then at least I can support those around me who have found something. Most of my friends are single too, though, so I'm not the only one.

Huh, this is the first time I've met someone exactly like me.
I totally feel you, anon. Especially the "deathly afraid of embarrassing myself and outing myself as an autistic creep" part. I cannot understate how much I hate that feeling.

I've personally given up on relationships altogether. The stress from all that risk and effort just isn't worth it. I've considered creating a tulpa, but I think I'll give it a few more years before I give myself self-induced schizophrenia.
I had a single "real" girlfriend (the relationship sucked, although I did learn a lot from it) and I'm still wondering how that happened.
I really hope you have at least a few good friends, because I don't know how I'd cope without the few I have.

I'd like more friends, but I have absolutely no idea how/where to meet people.
I tried asking people I known and their responses have been mainly "I have no idea either", "maybe a bar? do people still go to bars these days?" or "get a hobby".
I've begun indoor climbing and bouldering (which I highly recommend, it's a lot of fun) with a friend for quite a few months now, but I still don't get how you're supposed to approach people without being seen as a weirdo.

            >I don't even remember how to be myself anymore
Yeah, that mask really gets stuck once you wear it long enough.

Me almost to the tee, love hiking, and I have a large friend group too at least. I also thought about "manifesting" a tulpa or other /x/ shit but I'm too embarrassed to give myself mental illness.

I couldn't tell you, I kinda lucked out on my high school friends (I went to a weird magnet program high school with "gifted" and smart kids, I was one of the "gifted" ones ha), and by the time I graduated I had developed enough people skills that I could make friends in college. He definitely kisses Connie before dating her for several seasons. There's man episode where the big climactic image is Bobby using a ladder to kiss her over the fence. Hank catches on to what Bobby needs the ladder for and he chuckles and does an affected "phew!" that Bobby is straight. I'm bringing that up for your own sake, you shouldn't be earnestly posting things that come from an outspoken pedophile crackpot that wrote a book describing the way he jerk offd children to see if they could organize
He came up with theories to try and normalize his own sexual degeneracy

I'd ask for source but I'm assuming I'll either get.

            A. Nothing but more rambling
            B. Some edited text I'm supposed to take for face value and not look further into it
            C. A quote taken out of context
            D. One of those charts about how israelites are behind everything.

I know the playbook. Frick off.

For literally that one episode because Bobby was being weird and Joseph had hit a growth spurt. For a sizable chunk of the series Connie and Bobby are steady

    Bobby is a PIMP.
He's slick with the ladies (as he had both had a girlfriend and also "trained up" in the spin the bottle episode)
Also he's indeed a quirky lil motherfricker but he's neither gay nor autistic.

He is the gay kid girls date as a trail run, he is inoffensive, it all start making sense as he grows. He isnt attracted to women, he is attracted to the idea of being in a relationship, i dont think bobby ever lust any women in the entire show.

Holy shit have you ever even seen the show?
The famous "THAT'S NOT MY PURSE" episode outright starts with Bobby spying on Connie's slumber party in hopes of seeing boobs.

You are so full of shit, this is bobby "lust", he is eating and drinking cola watching the girls fight and gets slightly annoyed when khan interrupted the party, the one wanting to see breasts was Joseph with the night googles, at no point bobby shows anything resembling hornyness for women

Would Bobby Hill being gay change the show's entire point of dry sitcom?

I mean not that Bobby being gay is the issue, it's that it doesn't ADD to it other than "Bobby's less masculine" I guess.

Saying that boy ain't right because he bakes a cake is funny, it's just showing hank being up tight about nothing
Saying that boy ain't right and he's actually gay is bigoted

Yeah I don't think it's in Hank's character to just be like "I hate my gay son". He's probably carefully try to understand it, and eventually be supportive, if somewhat personally not entirely happy of the outcome as he wanted grandkids.

But at the end of the day, I don't think Hank would have it in him to just outright shove Bobby into a closet or kick him out the house or something extreme like that.

          Anonymous

It would still be out of character to accept a gay son.
Hank wouldn't even hug his mom in public, fell out of a parked car trying to get away from Redcorn when he was crying, and tried his best to dodge Lucky when he was looking for someone to hug.

            >it would be out of character for a show about a stodgy tradionalost guy who invariably learns to accept new things to accept his gay son
Sounds like you haven't really watched the show

      Anonymous

I'd argue that it actually makes thing worse, not because of the homosexuality itself but rather it goes against the whole point of the show.
A major if not general thesis of the show is a tradionalist conservative like Hank trying to connect eith his son who is part of a new generation he doesn't fully understand and try to see eye to eye with one another.

A part of this is Hank's insecurities of typical gender roles and him looking down on femine or week hobbies when viewed at face value, but grow an understanding of them as he gains a bit more understanding. We see this with gardening, the flowering competition, the propane based comedy show, home ec and so on. Making Bobby gay because "oh, well he kinda acts fruity" ruins the whole point about not judging things at face value.

I don't entierly know what you mean but Hank would 100% love Reagan sure.
Bobby would more likley end up a No Party Preference Moderate or Democrat to Hank's acceptance but disappointment.

Your parents probably never stood for anything and play politics like sports. They're the type of person who will support a wife beater or a dog/wiener fighter if the guy is on their sports team.

Yeah that's not going to help and just make it worse. You can lead the horse but you can't make it drink.

Best thing to do is just do better for the country on your own. That or just keep it to yourself while we're still in politically turbulent times.

Eh, my family are jerks and Thanksgiving is hell but they don't go that far. They still love me and I still love them deep inside.

But to give you a good idea of what they're like, when I was a teenager my dad sat me down once and told me.
"I don't care if you end up gay or marrying a black chick but I swear to Christ you better not be a fricking Democrat or go to California".
I failed him in the former but one of the few things holding us together is we both hate California with a passion.

Hank seems like the kind of person that would take other people's words for it on Trump until it effected him personally.
Knowing Hank it would be something like being sold terrible Trump steaks.

Id pay to see hank come to the realization that Trump wasn't what he thought as he attempts to eat a trump steak

Shit would look like a nam flashback as his mind puts the peices together

Another funny thing would be thank defending how trump eats pizza. "Sometimes a slice is too much and you have to eat it with a knife and fork.notherwiae you risk dropping toppings on the table and your shirt. Bobby, your mom works too hard for us to be staining her good table cloth "

You are aware that some of those excruciating arguments you had here you had with people with autism who can't grasp or understand what you are saying because they don't make logical connections the same way you do
Something like this and so that they don't get it and they aren't going to get it because to them it's this and then that, they don't quite grasp cause and consequence
