So why the frick did Lucas cast Jake Lloyd anyway, instead of the 9 year old they managed to find that actually had gravitas?
So why the frick did Lucas cast Jake Lloyd anyway, instead of the 9 year old they managed to find that actually had gravitas?
probably wasn't hershlag's type
Because Jake Lloyd was obviously mentally unstable and Lucas thought it would be funny to drive him completely insane.
mental problems usually start around puberty so he wouldnt have known he was schizo yet
Was Lucas based all along? I guess he kinda did the same when he withheld Carrie's coke
>Was Lucas based all along?
Very much so, yes.
What a POS
Hilarious, I can hear his voice saying it which makes it even funnier
He killed millions
im not going to insult the guy for wanting suicide or choosing to talk about it, but come on he had to have known that all of the actual hate was directed at Lucas and the character itself, not at him for playing Jar Jar. any actual hate he got was either from trolls or genuine morons that dont understand actors arent literally the characters they play irl
>but come on he had to have known
If you watch any behind the scenes stuff, EVERYONE on set is blowing SO much smoke up his ass telling him he was the greatest thing ever and going to be a huge breakout star. He clearly let that shit get to his head. I met him at an event about 10 years ago and he joked how his autograph was worthless. Dude seriously has issues. Hell, his pic with a kid you assume is his is baffling, I thought he was gay.
So he was Andy Serkis before Andy Serkis?
This doesn't make any sense, Serkis is very successful.
>I met him at an event about 10 years ago and he joked how his autograph was worthless
To be fair, it really is
But if he killed himself it'd shoot up in value.
He didn't deserve all the shit he got but the fact that he's going out of his way to turn his victim complex into a career makes me lose all sympathy
LOL no one even knows who this Black person is. He's just trying to ride the victim gravy train.
what a fricking pussy
I think if I was hired to be the guy to play jar jar I would just never tell anyone
>Lucas thought it would be funny to drive him completely insane.
he was right
apparently he's a diagnosed schizophrenic. i wonder if he posts here.
Years back he used to stream on Twitch, naturally Cinemaphile found out about it and raided his streams a few times
I remember anons were spamming "NOW THIS IS PODRACING" in the chat, initially he was annoyed but then he got into the mood and even did a little "podracing" dance
I hope someone recorded it
Also I remember people had found his Steam profile, IIRC it showed that he had played Star Wars Starfighter kek
I wish I went to school with him. I would've bullied him so hard
>casts an actor who turns to the dark side IRL
Lucas wins again.
He wanted the most annoying little kid he could find, not one that was good at acting.
lucas is 50% creative genius but also 50% moronic
He didn't want actors with gravitas because they would interfere with his "vision".
In the original Star Wars the actors actually had balls so they would tell Lucas to his face that his dialogue was trash and demand him to change it. With the prequels he made sure no one challenged him (and also was much more powerful by then), so his shitty script remained intact.
he also used a whip on ahmed best
Jake was the better pick. This kid is the kid JJ would have picked. The cliche, the obvious choice.
Jake had soul.
>Jake had soul.
Can you explain what you mean by this?
sure, anything contrarian is "sovl"
has nothing to do with the kid but the act of choosing rebelling against reddit by choosing the kid
That he's a typical newbie moron whose brain has been warped by Cinemaphile contrarianism.
>Jake had soul.
Mr Anon sir? I was wondering. What ARE Midichlorians?
HE WAS 9 YEARS OLD YOU SICK FRICK
He wanted an "innocent boy" who will later turn into Darth Vader. Thing is, you can achieve this with a good script and director, of which Lucas isn't one.
He was meant for little boys to self insert into and get the toys and podracing video game, etc.
jake's mom gave better head
Jake had prior experience and was probably easier to work with
nepotism
Because that kid was too good and you could tell his Anakin already had a darkness in him. Lloyd came across more natural and pure of heart which is what Anakin needed to be at the time. He wasn't meant to be troubled until the Jedi take him away.
A lot of the casting choices sucked for the prequels. Anakin’s mom could be out-acted by roadkill
why didn't that kid get any more breakout roles? He was honestly channeling Haley Joel osment's AI character here.
A couple years before AI even came out?
ESL?
>“People say he quit because of 'Star Wars.' Well, that's not true. It didn't have anything to do with 'Star Wars.' It had more to do with our family. And we were going through a divorce,” Lisa explained. “Things were unsettled and kind of rough. And Jake didn't seem to be having a lot of fun auditioning anymore.”
>Lisa said Jake still likes wearing "Star Wars" T-shirts and sometimes gets recognized in public. When asked if she sees Jake one day starring in another "Star Wars" project, Lisa said it’s not something that’s in the cards.
>“Jake loved filming 'Star Wars.' He had so much fun,” she recalled. “I would love for him to get well enough to be able to do a little bit of something, and I’m sure he would maybe like to do that. He couldn't at this point, but you never know how much he's going to improve. So we'll see.”
Jake Lloyd turned out to have strong hair genes, whereas the other kid did not
Would you rather have hair AND schizophrenia or no hair and no schizo?
This might sound autistic, but I think George watched Titanic and its box office success and wanted to cast Leo as older Anakin. Jake Lloyd vaguely resembled a younger Leo.
It's the round faces they have. Wasn't Leo in the running for Anakin?
Phantom Menace was filmed before Titanic was released. Leo got offered Attack of the Clones though.
