jabba would never personally meet han solo at his fricking ship. it undermines the entire aspect of jabba to have him slither his way over.
The original scene has a human Jaba literally show up with his gang. Then they cut the scene completely and later made him a big slug. He always showed up. Lucas just kept changing his mind about making it seem cooler
Yes, he always showed up in Lucas' original script. They had to cut it for budget. There is a reason he had it added back in once he had money coming out of his ears to do so
Reminds me of the comic where Darth Vader goes to personally threaten Jabba at his palace. Like the fricking #2 guy in the Galactic Empire would be wasting his time with a personal visit to Jabba the Hutt.
That's pretty cool but the scene was redundant to begin with and it disrupts the pacing.
It's like that Terminator 2 special edition where Arnold says the exact same things in two consecutive scenes.
every take of every cut of every scene should be included on 15 blurays, for every film.
imagine watching 150 hours of your favourite films, hearing every version of every line
I'd pay 1,000 per film to watch that, and I'm sure plenty of others will too - time to start on it LA!
Consider the scene with Greedo was written and shot after Lucas decided time and budget constraints couldn't allow to do this scene with Jabba the way he wanted. That's why the modern version with both is redundant.
This is honestly the worst change in the Special Editions. In the original version you saw the Falcon for the first time when Luke saw it. In the SE you first see the Falcon in this stupid and pointless scene, then you're introduced to it again when Luke and Obi Wan arrive, complete with Williams' same musical cue that mirrors their initial disappointment. The scene doesn't make contextual sense anymore and it's indicative of Lucas' decline as a storyteller, just throwing in redundant scenes and dialogue.
>that mirrors their initial disappointment.
That scene never really worked right anyway though. The Falcon wasn't obviously more gross or ramshackle than so much of the rest of the stuff onscreen that it was a kind of a dud scene.
>The Falcon wasn't obviously more gross or ramshackle than so much of the rest of the stuff onscreen t
It certainly was compared to the Star Destroyers and Death Star.
>the scene doesn't make contextual sense anymore
The whole point of the scene is to show that Solo is under the gun. He doesn't just owe money, hes late on payment and the dude he owes is now showing up to collect. Its gives urgency as to why hes helping Luke and Obi wan, he needs that money desperately. The scene helps Jabas image as a gangster. Without the seen you keep hearing hes that, but you never get any real sense of the danger. With the scene he feels like an actual mobster who will come find your ass if you owe him
The scene with Greedo already established the threat well enough. And if Lucas wanted to add Jabba in he should've done it in the same scene that Luke and Obi Wan arrive.
star wars was saved in the edit by a woman
lucas was never a good storyteller. the first movie was saved by half a dozen other people.
THX1138 and American Graffiti were well-told. Star Wars wasn't saved by editors, Lucas knew there were problems with the workprint and brought in people to help him restructure it. His storytelling abilities declined but they were pretty on-point in the 70s.
>It certainly was compared to the Star Destroyers and Death Star.
I guess, but given all the Tatooine vehicles and the Tantive IV etc, that scene never hit right for me.
>And if Lucas wanted to add Jabba in he should've done it in the same scene that Luke and Obi Wan arrive
The point of Luke and Obi Wan arriving is to make Luke excited that hes finally getting away from home and out into space. Hes not suppose to know hes boarding the ship of a grifting smuggler
It really ruins the Falcon introduction. Makes me wonder if there are any other extended cuts that accidentally ruin key moments simply by giving fans more scenes.

Star Wars, the very first one. Its a scene they cut out of Jaba threatening Solo to pay what he owes. Later they added it back in and replaced the human actor with the CGI slug version

The human was meant to be composited over with a stop motion creature but they ran out of time and budget, hence why the scene was cut.

Yeah I'm sure you know more about Jabba than the man who created the character.
Considering Lucas deleted the scene, it was obvious that he saw that I was right and deferred to my wisdom.

I hate that 'it's betterer because it's longerer' mentality
I love extended editions and extra scenes showing more about the world and characters, and you can't stop me.

To have any interest in star wars is an immediate pussy drier.
repeatedly posting this image on 4chin is an immediate pussy drier thoughbeit
That's a man
Go outside
Is that TP?
yup, same thing happens to my gf when she wipes with cheap tp
just cut the scene. it's a repeat of the greedo scene, doesn't fit with jabba's status, and lucas just tossed it in as an extra

it's student film level shit. not worth discussing.

Because bosses don’t send capos and lieutenants and underbosses.
Tell that to Tony Soprano every time he personally showed up to threaten or steal from someone

Boba Fett's there. The scene should have been included.
Boba is one of the good guys now. Can't show his dark past anymore.
Disney can’t into anti-hero.
Wait what the frick is this from?

I've never watched A New Hope with that scene in it.
Then you've been out of the loop
>I've never watched A New Hope with that scene in it.
Considering it's been in every version since 1997, I doubt that.
