The young Lex/young Clark dynamic was one of the great aspects of the show. One of Smallville's showrunner's was comics writer Jeph Loeb. Who I really think "got" Batman and Superman. His run with Tim Sale on Long Halloween with Batman and his Superman run with Ed McGuinness in the early 2000s really nailed the characters. Much like Bendis did with Ultimate Spider-man before he went full SJW.
