George Lucas own words is that Anakin loved too much and that loved into possessiveness. Jedi are conscripted young precisely so they don't form attachments with their family (anakin and his mother) or friendships (Dooku and the Republic seperatists). Anakin was at an age where he had established connections by that point and so couldn't properly embrace the jedi code of no attachments. This isn't a nutty, radical opinion. Failure to fully experience and regulate emotions during one's younger years results in poor emotional and behavioral adjustment in adulthood. Discouraging emotional exploration doesn't erase the emotion, it merely makes it harder to get at and more complex to experience when it does happen. Except you have it wrong. Jedi aren't told to control their emotions, they're told to not let them control them and their actions. Anakins flaws weren't because he wasn't allowed to express his emotions because he did express them, quite often and Obi Wan never scolded him. Anakins failure stems from the fact that he entered the order when he was at a point in his life where he was already his own person with attachments and traumas. Qui Gon would not be blento fix that and Lucas himself never said Qui Gon surviving would have changed Anakin's fate

the Force is a living thing and using it affects the person utilizing it. someone using the Force out of hate or anger will be changed for it. it's why the Jedi preached detachment and being free of emotion as much as humanly possible (where applicable idk about the emotions of aliens) because it's very easy to sink into selfishly using the Force for your own ends which corrupts you. it's why Anakin starts becoming a crazy stupid angry person when he begins using his abilities for his own gain, his desire to keep Padme alive is totally selfish. and it's why like Qui-Gon is a chill cool guy even when he's trying to use the Force to cheat at gambling, he's not doing it for himself, he's doing it for Padme and the crew of the ship.

Anakin did many bad or questionable things on his way to the dark side. He helped kill the leader of the Jedi Order. He didn't have a choice but to side with Palpatine anyway.

This is what Palpatine seems to be banking on happening to Luke if he kills Vader at the end of ROTJ. If Luke were to execute Vader, he would become le evil and serve as Palapatine's apprentice. If the dark side doesn't literally take over your brain and make you a villain then Palpatine's plan makes no sense. But it does make sense, as showcased with Anakin.
