ritchie and carm are more screwed up than syd ever could be (and never receive as much push back as syd from people) and besides, her ambition and drive is what elevated the restaurant to what it is. carm even remarks that he couldn't have gotten as far as he did without her.

i'm not saying people only have it out for her (and claire) because she's a chick (and black), but when it quacks like a duck...

I don’t get the Claire hate. She’s a doctor. Way more intense lifestyle and she’s fine. Chefs have such an ego. But Carm and Rich have had vulnerable apologetic moments.

Part of the reason I actually like her character. Literally all of the characters are flawed, including her, and they make a point of showing it. The way she deals with people shows her lack of experience managing and the process of her figuring it out.

The computer system we had would fill up with like 16-18 orders. We didn't know when you put in more orders than could be on the screen that it would delete the older orders and replaced them. People were no getting their food. We were running out of everything. People were getting mad. Frickin ell

me and my regiment specialized in minimizing casualties and extracting survivors out of recently abounded war-posts
Chi-Chi's, VIP's, Woolworths, Beefsteak Charlie’s you name it. We were everywhere.
Couldn't even describe what me and my unit went through. Some zones were wastelands, not a single civvie to be spotted. Looking through the ruins of what had previously been, and the smell... but it was nothing compared to the warzones that others where. I remember our CO had ordered us to extract some troopers from a Steak and Ale down in Dallas. It was one of the last outposts to be evacuated. There were so many civvies... They were screeching, and pushing, so many. Too many. All I- we could do was watch, as they tore down the walls and ripped apart our target. I still remember them in my nightmares. Every night I hear them screaming: "one rib-eye, well done NOW!". Jesus. I was raised as a christian my entire life, but after that I couldn't believe in the lord anymore. What god, do I say.

Currently on my third tour with Chilis platoon, also served with Longhorn, Wendys, Dunkin Donuts, Captain D's, and of course McDonalds.
Lower your tone when talking to me in my kitchen. I've made newbies cry and shit themselves within their first hour of duty, but we pulled them up handed them their spatula and got their heads turned around to the enemy screen.
I've been surrounded by enemy screens while my buddies ended their tours abruptly, I was the last man standing and with the help of Sarge we fed every one of those motherfrickers and killed those screens. This got me a raise of .50 and sometimes I didn't have to battle on sunday mornings anymore.

That is how my manager reacted after an interaction with African American patrons who were unhappy about their service.

Is it true in America you literally are not allowed to order a hot dog with sauce otherwise you get kicked out?

Does he really get mad when people order? I like to imagine he's like the guy from black books and just wants to be left alone.

Need somebody for a shift. Popeyes. Corner of Malcolm X and MLK avenues. Top secret - you frick up, there's no evac. I never saw you, and the government has no idea who you are. If any of you are still soldiers, still have the heart? I'll be waiting.

I mean I work as a cleaner right, so why would I get mad when I have to clean stuff
Is just insane people go to work in a kitchen then go "oh jesus I have to do kitchen shit how could this happen"

      Anonymous

Well the idea is you initially don't want to work in service
But then if you don't get out soon enough you start to get institutionalized
So then you're stuck in a state where you resent your job but can't leave

Well maybe most jobs end up that way but plenty of jobs people actually do want to get initially
Pretty much nobody actually wants to work in service they just have no choice

    >Carm is so insanely self-destructive that there is no way he would want to actually own and manage a high-end kitchen; he spirals out at the slightest thing so I don't get why he would also believe he can run a restaurant
    >Syd's way of speaking to people is horrible, she takes so fricking long to say anything with a lot of passive aggressive "Ums"; there's no reason to hire someone like this to lead your back of house
    >Richie, Marcus, and T have such amazing character growth in S2 and anytime it focuses on them the show felt amazing and then it comes crashing down again because Carm won't invest in a daily planner
This is the perfect 6/10 show to me. Like when it's good it's really fricking good and then it feels like the writers sometimes want to make the characters have these incredibly unlikable traits for no reason. Like why does Marcus fricking snap at Syd at the end of S2 because she didn't immediately respond to him asking her out? It's their first night open and he's been obsessed with doing pastries but NOW he flips out? How can Carm be so fricking unfocused because he's getting pussy? Claire is the worst part about the entire second season:
    >she has no flaws in a show where all the characters have flaws
    >carm spirals out in the walk-in, he laments that HE doesn't deserve anything but she just takes it so fricking personally and leaves
    >there's no conflict at all, she just appears to sabotage Carm by just taking his focus away
    >almost every scene she's in feels like tonal whiplash compared to the rest of the show

I watched season 1 and I did not get this feeling from the show at all
I guess if you want to be dishonest you could claim the bit where the black girl fricks up and they have too many orders to do counts?
    But I don't think so

It's just Cinemaphile being deliberately moronic for comic effect, like when they make threads about Jagten and ask "oh but did he do it :^)" when the film is literally about how an accusation that is completely fabricated can spread

Recently finished season 2. It felt comical how everything is set up. Everyone gets their own training arc, Carmy gets a virgin childhood friend gf that he fricks up by accidently yelling out his feelings and Sydney's jeolously fits. I wanted the show to be about cooking, but they seem to want to steer the show as a romance drama instead.

I love working in the industry. I have sex with my coworkers on the regular, I get free drugs and free drinks because I've gotten to meet everyone at every bar and restaurant within a 5 mile radius since we all hang out in the same dive bars after work and go to the same after parties. I make more money than most people I know with degrees, especially the ones in the medical field. What's not to love?
