It actually did help to elevate the series for just a bit when it really had no further to fall, but then the movie actually did great and they stopped doing it.
Arin Hanson being hired sure helped elevate the series.
It was only good when they were a few jokes here and there, but then it just became a way to compensate for the franchise's pitfalls without actually fixing anything, to the point Sega fell into the memes and thought Sonic was actually better now and then Forces came out and gave them a wake up call. You notice after that game came out the metashit was slowly starting to phase out.

Nah, part of what led to Sonic Fatigue in that era was that they kept making bad game after bad game but acting like everything was fine. Aaron's run on the official Twitter and Boom TV taking the piss out of things helped save the public face of things.

I honestly hate Sonic Boom because of the self aware bullshit. The problem with being self aware when the franchise is like Sonic is.....the humor becomes self deprecating. So these characters start insulting the entire franchise and customers. Basically the writers are using the characters to admit that the franchise, Sonic, is terrible. And I for one don't like wasting my time on shit like that. Shit that admits they are shit and that insults the customer. This is also why I refused to watch garbage like Teen Titans Go (don't get me started on the Thundercats Teen Titans Go crossover episode about those shitty writers insulting loyal fans).

Sonic Frontiers is one of the most successful 3D Sonic games, beating everything out of the Meta Era. So no, it wasn't "the best".

Lost World is written by the same writers as Colors and has the same cartoony low-stakes tone as Colors. Colors has forced drama too when Sonic pushes Tails into an escape pod despite Eggman being the most pathetic and non-threatening he has ever been, he’s basically Neo Cortex in Colors. Lost World uses the same limited cast as Colors too. Lost World was the natural conclusion to Color’s style of writing.
And nothing has changed. Sonic Frontiers is shit. And I hate how people pretend it's oh so good but for it to be good you need to pay for multiple waves of DLC. Sonic fans are stupid for worshiping this game development style.
