The only issue was because of Amy, Rouge, and Cream needing winter clothes and Evan used the ones previously shown on Sonic Channel to get it approved. Otherwise it wasn't allowed. Not sure about the Rogues. It might be the same case. Sega obviously doesn't care about the OCs.

I actually agree with you there. That particular expression is awkward and definitely could've been better. But I'll still prefer the occasional awkwardness over literally giving him another set of eyebrows that look bad no matter what expression he makes.
Herms is perfect. Yardley kinda sucks with how he emotes him in this issue, as I never liked it back in the Archie days yet everyone thinks its correct Sonic design, but ABT is the single worse one because he's just a old coomer that only cares to draw breasts on Rouge, Vanilla, Whisper and Lanolin. It's very fricking patheic for me to see this comic swap between good artists and coomers or people that has illfitting cartoon styles.

Evan HAS said, in her tumblr, that she and Ian talked about an idea for a sequel to Tangle and Whisper, but decided not to do it because they didn't like the tone and felt it'd make Tangle too unlikable. From that kernel of truth, you end up with autists speculating and lying and spitting until suddenly this entire miniseries was cancelled after production already started, something that writers don't get to do, and one page already fully inked, despite the fact that'd mean the rest of the issue already was pencilled.

Speaking of surge...anyone got that one art of Surge with those nasty electric burns? I remember seeing one where she was with her gloves off and her hands were all scarred. It looked cool.
The issue seemed to be made to acknowledge the thing about Tangle being with Whisper all the time with israeliteel behind, but just handled it in a kinda shitty way here.
But he's the head writer for IDW, he gets to call all the shots of what's goes in the final product... That was until Evan stepped in around 2021 and basically took his role, now he has to consult her before making any decisions moving forward, it would seem
"It makes sense" is how bullshit ends up spreading.
ABT had the idea for the short Drogune spinoff story they used to participate in that Shonen Jump contest. Outside of that, there's never any indication that Ian's only writing ABT's comic or anything, they always make sure to credit both and to refer to it as "our". It makes sense as much that somehow this is ABT's project Ian's been asked to write for, as it does that he gets to focus more on it simply because he's got less work than Ian does. After all, Ian's writing for two game series and continues to write licensed comics. You figure that might have something to do as to why he doesn't reference Drogune as much anymore, especially now they've clearly given up the webcomic format and are trying to get a publisher instead?
If anything tweets like this seem to point to it being Ian's project that he feels guilty ABT's being dragged on as it keeps failing.
The expression itself is kinda bad, but your edit does look a lot better.
But at this point, I'll just concede that Sonic's design in general is just a mess to work with.
The design can be made to work, ABT just specifically has design choices that don't work the best with it.

Only clothing from official Sega games. So that panda suit she recently got is fair game but there likely needs to be a reason for it before Sega will allow it.
If it's in a game from Sega that they aren't pretending doesn't exist and there's a story reason for it then I can see it being allowed. But Sega likely doesn't want any costume changes unless the story calls for it. The winter clothes in the mountains were necessary and the swimwear for this issue were as well. Not including the OC's all those clothes were probably borrowed from somewhere else by Sega.

From that kernel of truth, you end up with autists speculating and lying and spitting until suddenly this entire miniseries was cancelled after production already started, something that writers don't get to do, and one page already fully inked, despite the fact that'd mean the rest of the issue already was pencilled.
It's so stupid too since both these people are extremely open about the behind the scenes apects and one does a fricking Q&A show like 3 times a week. I went through a period of listening to it for a few months and even that was enough to establish that literally everything that people say in these threads is complete bullshit

Outside of that, there's never any indication that Ian's only writing ABT's comic or anything, they always make sure to credit both and to refer to it as "our". It makes sense as much that somehow this is ABT's project Ian's been asked to write for, as it does that he gets to focus more on it simply because he's got less work than Ian does. After all, Ian's writing for two game series and continues to write licensed comics. You figure that might have something to do as to why he doesn't reference Drogune as much anymore, especially now they've clearly given up the webcomic format and are trying to get a publisher instead?
If anything tweets like this seem to point to it being Ian's project that he feels guilty ABT's being dragged on as it keeps failing.
The design can be made to work, ABT just specifically has design choices that don't work the best with it.

If it's in a game from Sega that they aren't pretending doesn't exist and there's a story reason for it then I can see it being allowed. But Sega likely doesn't want any costume changes unless the story calls for it. The winter clothes in the mountains were necessary and the swimwear for this issue were as well. Not including the OC's all those clothes were probably borrowed from somewhere else by Sega.
