Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM)
I liked the show but Season 3 would have been terrible. It would have been closer to Sonic Underground in quality than Season 1 of SatAM due to the rapidly plummeting standards in tv animation quality at the time. Especially at DiC.

Seeing it was actually the same showrunner as for season 2 of SatAM, it might have been about the same quality.
The showrunner had nothing to do with why Season 2 looked much cheaper than Season 1, though. That was on the network. And they weren't paying for expensive shows anymore. Very few were after Power Rangers. The reality is, the only way you were gong to get a decent Season 3 of Sonic is if another network like Kids WB had picked the show up because it was never going to happen at ABC.
I mean animation wise Satam was always pretty crap. All those 80s/90s shows were
satam and the early archie comics before nearmid2000s are the only decent american media in the sonic series, and sally haters and hateartists were mentally ill spegs

At seven years old pre-2000 my knowledge of the word "gay" was the teacher trying to convince us it meant, "happy" and the older kids calling everyone happy on the playground for some weird reason.

Wow my favorite character from the games finally got to do something after 20+ episodes of being told "nah lil bro it's too dangerous for you to come with us" while still allowing that beta cuck Antoine to come on every mission despite having less abilities and being entirely useless in every situation.

And, allegedly, Ben (to avoid IP infringement) made a point to never read the comics and other Sonic material until he had the guarantee he had the IP umbrella of Sega, so he came up to that pairing on his own. Look like everyone agree on their chemistry.
Not entirely too keen on that conclusion with Nicole. It might be because of the comics, but not having Sally involved at all with the restoration of Nicole until the end is missing the mark, to me.
Even in Ben Hurst's vision, she is supposed to be her long lost friend and an actual arc where they take the time to rekindle that connection as Sally discover she has been her computer the whole time seems like an important part of the narrative to build and tell.

A lot of it is a retrospective on Ben Hurst and the making of SatAM, as well as the failed attempt to make a sequel and how it was fricked up. If you are only interested in the plans he had for season 3, you can skip straight to 1:15:49.
I started to listen to this without really paying attention, and only after 10 minutes did I notice this thing is 2 hours long.
Thanks for shilling, I am actually mildly curious. I can't watch it right now, but is this the guy who wanted to make I think not a season but a movie where one of the plot points was that Nicole is a mobian who was stuffed into a computer? I think she was Sally's servant or something.
I watched the first part of this a few days ago. Great stuff. Didn't know it was all finished though, I'll have to check it out soon
Season 1 kicks the shit out of Season 2. It's premise was solid and the characters worked well as an ensemble. Season 2 pushed half the cast into the background, gave shitty redesigns for a couple of them, added new characters that didn't fit, and got too far up it's own ass with lore. Nothing in Season 2 hits the high notes of Sonic Boom and Hooked On Sonics, two of the best episodes of the show, both early in Season 1.

I actually don't know if I even disagree with this. I find Ben Hurst a really interesting figure and Doomsday Project is kino, but Len Janson's take on Sonic is a little more comfy and I couldn't quite tell you why. Also I really don't like Dulcy at all - that's his biggest blunder
