Lots of ventures. Also with regards to their studio they're one of the few movie studios that haven't been trying to bankrupt themselves with a streaming service.
>Also with regards to their studio they're one of the few movie studios that haven't been trying to bankrupt themselves with a streaming service.
Yeah, they've been trying a different approach. Where they spend way too much money trying to make the extended Spider-Man universe work.
They keep trying to push all these shit ideas that came after the Clone Wars Saga.
Vemon and the Kyntars and Knull.
Morbius from JMS/Slott.
Madame Webb for the Morbius shit.
Nobody wants those types of Spider-Man stories, even if you have legal access to them. People are honestly looking for 1960s to early 1990s Spider-Man stories, and whenever possible just copy paste the best parts of the 90s Spider-Man cartoon.
if they make it a game, it might not be bad depending on their studio pick. movie would be a disaster as well as tvshow i think. in the end it all depends who they hire to do it and if its some yesman or someone who knows his stuff, trekwise and how do handle executives wise.
Another Sony panic move after Fallout was a success. They wasted $5 billion on Bungie after Microsoft bought Activision and Bungie is already dead less than 2 years later.

Actually, Apollo wanted to buy it for the tv channels and got refused so they went to Sony to make the bid legit so they can take the rest
To be fair, that one wasn't Sony's fault. They lost the streaming rights because the term of their deal with the distributor ran out. Users didn't bother to read the fine print. You don't "own" a movie when you buy it on a streaming platform: you only get access to it for as long as it remains available on that platform. That's true of every streaming platform that lets you "buy" stuff, not just Sony.
The lesson to learn from that story shouldn't have been "Sony bad," but "stop buying digital."
According to Variety, there were two possible deals in the works; Skydance and Sony. With Skydance (as of today) backing away, that leaves Sony as the next first in line.
Of course it could also wind up like Lehman Brothers; where Paramount keeps asking for too much, and winds up standing alone at the alter.
If you want to save the film industry, repeal the law that prevents the studios from owning their own theaters. With TV and the internet, the reasons for breaking them up no longer exist.
They had $16B cash at the end of 2023, with a total company worth of $105B. They could easily sell $10B worth of under-preforming parts of their business or just take a loan for $26B.
Snoy have greater power in japan and the entire asia.
Just because their game business flopped doesn't mean their camera, music, moobie, or other business are suffering the same fate.
Which Sony division is performing the best and which one the worst?
I would say Sony Music is at the top followed by SIE PlayStation then at the end you get Sony Mobile and Sony Pictures in the red
Man I don't frickin know. Download stocktwits and see the general sentiment. Do some research by checking the news and graphs and always triple check your research. And never put your eggs all in one basket. Oh, and never get advice from Cinemaphile

How does Sony have money
They own most of Japan from what I understand, they’re like the main bank or something.
They actually sold their insurance branch, also the bank too iirc
insurances and banking bussiness
Morbius made bank
they're much bigger than a movie studio
Lots of ventures. Also with regards to their studio they're one of the few movie studios that haven't been trying to bankrupt themselves with a streaming service.

Like Disney and Amazon, their movie division is just a side-hustle.
Sony seems to do petty shit like this all the time. This is because Paramount has the Halo show isn't it?
Probably because Paramount is failing and is cheap to buy? No one goes a shit about the Halo show.
Yes, definitely spending tens of billions for a low-tier IP and middling streaming show.
Sony has been doing this kind of thing since the 80s ever since they bought Columbia Pictures.
How much shittier will Star Trek become as a result?
Hopefully they'll throw all the tapes in a deep vault and they won't see the light of day for at least another generation.
I'd like top say it's not possible but I've been proven wrong too many times before.
It can't get any worse. Objectively. It can't get worse than it is now.
Bro, I though the same when STD released yet they managed to subvert my expectations with each new season.
It'll get more video games but they'll completely miss the tone and feel of the franchise and we'll wind up with Fortnite collabs and shit like that

Sonicbros, it's over...
Going 3rd party again
>sony buys paramount
>immediately cancels StH 3
BASED
Paramount yo Momma.
Spider-Man/Star Trek crossover when?
I would scream KINO and spill baked beans all over myself if this happened
Bloodborne tv series soon
>its a bone marrow ash cannon spammer 1hko everything in sight episode
>its a weeb crow chikage episode
no thanks senpai
>1800s London setting
>everyone is a jeet/Black person/pooki/mudslime
>inb4 normalgays defend corporations
S𐐬yny
Cities csn be rebuilt but Paramount can't.

Bungie makes good games, definitely not worth 5b though unless they have something big in the works.
I wonder if Sony is going to make you log into PSN to watch their movies too.
Sony has already done worse

Hopefully. PCtrannies will get the rope anyway.
aww, did the salty helldiver shill make a visit to the Cinemaphile board?
because Cinemaphile and Cinemaphile have no overlap. stfu gay Sony makes games too not just Morbius
Can we expect Crash bandicoot movies?

snoy has 26B cash? no way
They had $16B cash at the end of 2023, with a total company worth of $105B. They could easily sell $10B worth of under-preforming parts of their business or just take a loan for $26B.
That's Sony as a whole, not just the interactive entertainment subsidiary.
Snoy have greater power in japan and the entire asia.

WTF bros I thought Sony was about to go bankrupt!???
The prophecy is coming true. All major film studios will soon be owned by tech giants.
won't be allowed, any more than the music industry (which is more profitable) being owned by Big Tech has been allowed.
The only valuable IP they have is TMNT. I guess those merch sales are just that strong, huh.
Avatar TLA, Spongebob, and Star Trek are plenty big.
Avatar is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Spongebob yes, Star Trek maybe but it's wavering.
>Apollo Global Management
Oh, that's where Chandler used to work. RIP.
Will paramount ips get better video games?
Better? No. Video games? Yes.
Paramount did a good job in destroying star trek franchise
imagine top gun 2 having madame web, ghostbusters' creative decisions
Probably a big win for Netflix if it goes through, given their working relationship with Sony.
Amy Pascal wins again
Hollywood is saved!
Should I expect more star trek video games perhaps? Maybe even a good trek tv show?
When in doubt, buy Paramount
Do you think they will give me 26 billion dollars in cash?
Should i buy paramount stock now?
I'm buying rn as we speak
plz be serious
should i?

You're better off buying Warner Brothers stock when it finishes it's fall to $5 and gets snapped up by Amazon.
Warren Buffet just sold all his shares.
Was that before or after the news of the acquisition
