Seems like I’m one of few people who liked Brave, I do wish they’d made Merida less doughy in the face (though they did get that inbred-looking UK look pretty well). I gotta say Coco is more fun and interesting, especially for kids. It is a fairly story too, the dementia aspect hits hard if you’ve seen a family member go through that. Seems like they did a good job with the cultures of both movies. I’m fine with a movie about Mexicans as long as they stay in Mexico.

Baffling coming from Disney. People (used to) watch their movies expecting family friendly, PG might mean a few subtle jokes only adults would get. It’s like a hallmark movie having an explicit rape scene. Not the place.

Any media, any media at all with that artstyle is automatically low-effort mass-produced garbage.
        >$175 million budget
What the frick did they actually spend that on??

And yes I saw it, it’s forgettable and mid. “Coming of age” is having a fight with her mom about growing up and the “struggle” is figuring out how to go see a pop concert. Maybe it’s more relatable if you were a tween in early 2000’s Canada.

Correct. Luca was supposed to be explicitly gay but underage homosex is too much even for Yidsney. They killed that and so the director ‘soft coded’ it instead, which was celebrated by the usual gang of perverts, pederasts and pimps in modern ‘cinema journalism’.

all I remember about Soul, was the guy saying he could die happy if he did something, then he did it, died, and still wasn't happy.

The point was he had been chasing a dream his whole life, but once it was within his reach he realized it maybe wasn't as great as he thought it would be, and he should have appreciated the things he already had.

I liked Luca. It stayed true to its Italian roots and told a family-centric story with a positive message. Haters and pedos will say it was about homosexuality, but I don’t think it was. I would see Luca in theaters.

I wouldn’t touch Soul with a ten foot pole though. I liked the black guy, but the soul girl ruined the entire movie for me. She was given everything needed to succeed, squandered her opportunities, and never learned from her mistakes. Her character was a clear metaphor for mental health, but all it did was highlight how society babies people because of muh depression and anxiety instead of helping them grow and overcome.

I never saw Turning Red and never will. The art of offputting and the story more so.

It's an easy way for Iger to gain a little goodwill from the animators at Pixar who were pissed about their movies not getting theatrical releases. Highly doubt they will make much money off this, but getting in their good graces is important before he starts to destroy their future project budgets
