AI tells them that the alternate KK looks like Cartman and head to South Park.
Everyone is lazy and can't do home repair, so everyone bribes repairmen to give them priority work. The repairmen become billionaires and buy Instagram and go to space. Randy can't get the oven door replaced.
All three stories collide when Disney uses the Panderstone and Randy's broken oven door to send queer diverse woman Cartman back home, just in time for Cartman and main universe KK to discover that she was shilling wokeness to spite her hate mail but Cartman was writing 10,000 angry letters to her every day over her wokeness shilling, so they agree to break the cycle and return to their own universe. Cartman-KK is returned to their strange, alien dimension where Kyle is cereal.
Also, Randy travels the multiverse and the only thing that changes is his clothing.

Just watched it. It pandered to my tastes. I don't know why everyone is acting like the episode was toothless. I mean, first of all, not every SP episode needs to be a stinging commentary that offends someone in order to be entertaining. It's a comedy first and foremost. Just laugh at the jokes.
But secondly, what commentary is in the episode, is very against the idea of pandering. They make it very clear that they think all the pandering is strange. Both Cartman and Kyle think it's strange. And Kyle is not willing to accept even a multiverse explanation to justify it all. He thinks multiverses are lame, and Stan agrees.
When Cartman, Kyle, AND Stan agree something is lame, then how can you say the show isn't taking a side?

Does it seem to anyone else that Stan isn't used nearly as much as he used to be? It feels like a lot of Kyle. I know at the beginning they were supposed to be interchangeable characters but they're quite different now.
Stan’s personality of being “the normal one” hasn’t changed, but his position in the show has adjusted to maintain that personality. He’s tired and no longer willingly gets involved in bullshit. In fact he’s quite content to either avoid or ignore it, while Kyle actively opposes bullshit.
Him staying out of bullshit kinda limits his character potential though. South Park is memorable for its wild bs and often times those moments are often fulfilled by Cartman, Randy, Butters, Kyle, etc.
I'd really love an arc where Stan feels compelled to get involved in something if it personally affects him, because so far he either becomes a minor character in a story arc or plays second fiddle to Randy's shenanigans.

Seriously though, what's with the constant product placement in Nu-South Park? RDR2, Alexa, Disney Plus, Playstation, Xbox blah blah blah If that Chinpokomon episode or that Okama Gamesphere came out today, they'd just go with refular old Pokemon and Xbox/Gamecube. Cheesy Poofs would probably just be Cheetos today. I don't mind namedropping a brand every now and then, but past a point it feels like blatant shilling.
I have a theory that it's because when you're starting out as a show you rely more on fake products in case the company's product you are using attempts to take legal action against it (if they can), but when the show is "too big to fail" it can get away with just referencing the thing exactly as it is.
I also think part of it has to do with what Matt and Trey are interested in. With Red Dead Redemption and Baldur's Gate you could tell one or both of them had been playing those games recently and were interested enough to directly reference it and include it in their plots since South Park is like their weird animated diary. With Pokemon, they just straight up didn't get it and thought it would be a passing fad like they said in the episode, so instead just make the parody chinpokomon probably designed after a quick glance at what Pokemon usually look like and maybe half an episode of the anime.

all the handymen were so busy with other projects, that you sometimes had to wait months for someone to come to your home. And then they will have outrages prices, and even then it might not be fixed properly because even the handymen don't know shit anymore.

The post credits scene even suggests that the alternate universe wasn't even her universe.

i thought the special had a decent concept that fell apart as the story continued. I can't tell if that was intentional as that's how I usually feel about multiverse stories. Cartman and a Black woman version of him being swapped is a solid plot. The Kathleen Kennedy stuff didn't work. I didn't understand why the one of them looked like Cartman and why we even needed another one. Kathleen Kennedy from the proper universe was motivated to pander for money. Why did we need the 2nd one? Why couldn't normal Kathleen Kennedy have just been the bad guy who went mad with power and opened a hole in the panderverse? It would simplify everything. have her want to eliminate racism by turning everything into the panderverse. I got the vibe that they didn't want to make her the bad guy so they came up with that evil cartman version of her. The Randy plot needed to be reworked. A story about billionaires being buttholes and the student loan debt problem could have been its own separate episode. They wanted Randy to be in this and couldn't find a role for him,.
I liked this. I thought it was funny and genuinely comfy. Felt like they roasted each side pretty good, plus they made Iger and Disney look moronic, which was fun. Genuinely liked black Cartman, she was funny. Randy's shorts changing in the multiverse and Stan, Kyle and Kenny just being baffled about multiverses gave me some good laughs too. Found it interesting how optimistic it ended. I feel Trey and Matt have gotten a bit soft in their old age, but it worked here. Gave me a "nature is healing" vibe when Cartman and Kathleen made up. I honestly wish this one was two parts, they could have done a lot more. But at the same time I'm glad we'll get a different story in the next special.

Cartman has prophetic visions about everyone being replaced with queer diverse women that fight the patriarchy. Queer diverse woman Cartman has prophetic visions about everyone being replaced with straight white boys. Kyle complains about how the concept of the multiverse is boring and overdone. Cartman and queer diverse woman Cartman are shunted into each other's dimensions. Stan and Kyle get yelled at by PC Principal and told that if they have a problem with Cartman being a strong independent black woman, they're the problem. The parents similarly shrug off the change immediately. Meanwhile, regular Cartman is constantly harassed because he is literally the only man to exist in the alternate universe.
Tangentially, Disney is nervous about their failing empire and they eventually discover Kathleen Kennedy has been replaced with an alternate universe Kathleen Kennedy that is basically Cartman in a dress (as opposed to queer diverse Cartman looking like a completely different person) and who has been demanding everything, including her food, have a lame gay woman in it. AI tells them that the alternate KK looks like Cartman and head to South Park.
Everyone is lazy and can't do home repair, so everyone bribes repairmen to give them priority work. The repairmen become billionaires and buy Instagram and go to space. Randy can't get the oven door replaced.
All three stories collide when Disney uses the Panderstone and Randy's broken oven door to send queer diverse woman Cartman back home, just in time for Cartman and main universe KK to discover that she was shilling wokeness to spite her hate mail but Cartman was writing 10,000 angry letters to her every day over her wokeness shilling, so they agree to break the cycle and return to their own universe. Cartman-KK is returned to their strange, alien dimension where Kyle is cereal.
Also, Randy travels the multiverse and the only thing that changes is his clothing.

Just watched it. It pandered to my tastes. I don't know why everyone is acting like the episode was toothless. I mean, first of all, not every SP episode needs to be a stinging commentary that offends someone in order to be entertaining. It's a comedy first and foremost. Just laugh at the jokes.
But secondly, what commentary is in the episode, is very against the idea of pandering. They make it very clear that they think all the pandering is strange. Both Cartman and Kyle think it's strange. And Kyle is not willing to accept even a multiverse explanation to justify it all. He thinks multiverses are lame, and Stan agrees.
When Cartman, Kyle, AND Stan agree something is lame, then how can you say the show isn't taking a side?

I was quite surprised this was played straight with no joke or adverse reaction. Just Cartman being cute and affectionate.
Does it seem to anyone else that Stan isn't used nearly as much as he used to be? It feels like a lot of Kyle. I know at the beginning they were supposed to be interchangeable characters but they're quite different now.
Stan’s personality of being “the normal one” hasn’t changed, but his position in the show has adjusted to maintain that personality. He’s tired and no longer willingly gets involved in bullshit. In fact he’s quite content to either avoid or ignore it, while Kyle actively opposes bullshit.
Him staying out of bullshit kinda limits his character potential though. South Park is memorable for its wild bs and often times those moments are often fulfilled by Cartman, Randy, Butters, Kyle, etc.
I'd really love an arc where Stan feels compelled to get involved in something if it personally affects him, because so far he either becomes a minor character in a story arc or plays second fiddle to Randy's shenanigans.
Stan’s bs is personal/emotional, like the GPT thing. Stan only acts if his complacency is affected, whether it be his relationship or his physical status.
He did that in the Japanese Toilet episode in the recent season. It was nice to see that Stan back again.

Seriously though, what's with the constant product placement in Nu-South Park? RDR2, Alexa, Disney Plus, Playstation, Xbox blah blah blah If that Chinpokomon episode or that Okama Gamesphere came out today, they'd just go with refular old Pokemon and Xbox/Gamecube. Cheesy Poofs would probably just be Cheetos today. I don't mind namedropping a brand every now and then, but past a point it feels like blatant shilling.
I have a theory that it's because when you're starting out as a show you rely more on fake products in case the company's product you are using attempts to take legal action against it (if they can), but when the show is "too big to fail" it can get away with just referencing the thing exactly as it is.
I also think part of it has to do with what Matt and Trey are interested in. With Red Dead Redemption and Baldur's Gate you could tell one or both of them had been playing those games recently and were interested enough to directly reference it and include it in their plots since South Park is like their weird animated diary. With Pokemon, they just straight up didn't get it and thought it would be a passing fad like they said in the episode, so instead just make the parody chinpokomon probably designed after a quick glance at what Pokemon usually look like and maybe half an episode of the anime.

i thought the special had a decent concept that fell apart as the story continued. I can't tell if that was intentional as that's how I usually feel about multiverse stories. Cartman and a Black woman version of him being swapped is a solid plot. The Kathleen Kennedy stuff didn't work. I didn't understand why the one of them looked like Cartman and why we even needed another one. Kathleen Kennedy from the proper universe was motivated to pander for money. Why did we need the 2nd one? Why couldn't normal Kathleen Kennedy have just been the bad guy who went mad with power and opened a hole in the panderverse? It would simplify everything. have her want to eliminate racism by turning everything into the panderverse. I got the vibe that they didn't want to make her the bad guy so they came up with that evil cartman version of her. The Randy plot needed to be reworked. A story about billionaires being buttholes and the student loan debt problem could have been its own separate episode. They wanted Randy to be in this and couldn't find a role for him,.

honestly I was expecting a gag at the end where Sharon or Shelly just looked up how to do it and actually fixed it themselves
I liked this. I thought it was funny and genuinely comfy. Felt like they roasted each side pretty good, plus they made Iger and Disney look moronic, which was fun. Genuinely liked black Cartman, she was funny. Randy's shorts changing in the multiverse and Stan, Kyle and Kenny just being baffled about multiverses gave me some good laughs too. Found it interesting how optimistic it ended. I feel Trey and Matt have gotten a bit soft in their old age, but it worked here. Gave me a "nature is healing" vibe when Cartman and Kathleen made up. I honestly wish this one was two parts, they could have done a lot more. But at the same time I'm glad we'll get a different story in the next special.
