>Aang has a vision at the start of the series so he's always focused on defeating the fire nation. He doesn't like having fun and he's a fully responsible action hero from the start instead of an immature kid who avoids responsibility. >Sokka won't be sexist >All "negative gender roles" have been removed, and this includes Katara's motherly nature >Zuko won't attack innocent people because that's too evil (even though he's meant to be a piece of shit in the first season) >No Sozin's Comet = No sense of urgence
Sokka being a sexist makes more sense now in this society though.
Is it really so hard to just make it so you don't know when the comet is coming but it's still soon?
Maybe you shouldn’t have adapted an animated story about children then

Once again it's proved that, for an adaptation to have a chance to be decent at least, you need >a good budget
So it doesn't look like a cw show and to be able to get some decent actors onboard. >a showrunner and writers, who are familiar with the source material
To avoid what marvel studios is doing, having people who have never even heard about those characters, making up shit and changing things as their agenda demands. >the author being heavily involved in the production
To avoid what happened to the witcher, where the women in charge even made fun of what sapkowski wrote, rejected his notes and advice, wanting to turn the whole thing into a soap opera like that show outlander, or the halo show where they explicitly decided to ignore the canon because the writers are arrogant enough to believe they know better than the source material, same thing for cowboy beebop. >the author having a real take on the project that doesn't betray his own original vision
So something like the knights of the zodiac movie doesn't happen, where kurumada agreed to those awful changes just for the money, or james cameron drinking the koolaid and being ok with killing john connor in dark fate in favor of an hispanic woman being the new face of the resistance or neil gaiman being ok with death being a black woman in the sandman adaptation.
No wonder the one piece adaptation worked, it hit all the marks and in our current times, that's as rare as catching a lightning in a bottle.

This sounds like bullshit.
Why do they insist upon changing simple narratives so dramatically?
It was a children's show. It was obviously not too difficult to follow for children.
I can't begin to understand, for any reason other than utter vanity and malicious sabotage, they would feel the need to change a successful story.
How could that ever turn out in your favor unless you absolutely confident in your own ability, that you had the hubris to improve upon some widly accepted cultural phenomenon.
That you had the total hubris to condescend to millions of people about something they enjoyed.

You're describing most of media business. People that are actually capable are rare and there is so much israelited out nepotism running rampant that it just fricks everything up.

Cartoons are caricature and hyperbole. Live action adaptations can only rarely replace or replicate that. So this show will look bad and stagnant in comparison to the original. I think the news that's been coming out is hedging against it sucking so they can just blame fans. I hope I'm wrong, but there is a pattern to this sort of thing by now.

>he's not actually the last airbender
You'll have to wait until the Korra era, when they unironically just give random non-benders air-bending.

Where can i read about these?
How are they going to explain Aang ending up in the fricking iceberg if "he doesn't like having fun"? He would have no reason to go fly that day.
And Katara would have no reason fricking around the iceberg in the first place without Sokka egging her on.
Korra was the death of the avatar franchise. Why would anyone have any hope left after that? It's dead. Just enjoy the original show and pretend none of the other shit ever existed.

this is will unironically probably happen for real though because of "safety concerns"
remember how Luffy couldn't wear sandals in the netflix show?
Didn't Toph were shoes without the soles in the final season? They could just do that.
Yeah. The people who shoot fire from their hands and feet turn into giant homosexuals when comets pass in real life. Why wasn't this reflected in the show?
>bending should be based on science
Never mind the countless times the show tells and shows us that bending is something entirely spiritual and changes depending on spiritual events
how will you even have an urgent plot, the comet being the ticking time bomb affects the entire series plot, all their actions are affected by the fact they have a very limited amount of time to defeat Ozai before he destroys the world, and they showed how important that was in the finale by show casing how fricking OP even the weakest fire bender is with said comet
>and they showed how important that was in the finale by show casing how fricking OP even the weakest fire bender is with said comet
Yet they still got their asses kicked by an earth bender and even a water bender(which is supposed to get nerfed as fire gets buffed and vice-versa) in ba-sing-se.
Honestly they should have just had Iroh taking the city all by himself
Why not just make your own original series at this point? Seriously, I don't get it, nobody would be mad if this was called "Ching Chong and the Element Masters", it's not hard.
What are they already planning for 5 year hiatuses between seasons? Just instead of Roku saying at the winter solstice that the comet will arrive with the next solstice just say "three years from now, which sounds like a long time but usually Avatars have a lot longer to learn all the elements, it's still not that long". Easy
>What are they already planning for 5 year hiatuses between seasons?
I mean its Netflix. The Stranger Things kids have gone from pre teens to drawing their pensions in the time its taken to start the final season
I one hundred percent agree. I felt the original timeline for Avatar itself was very rushed, and none of the events felt like they happened as quickly as they did. It would have been absolutely fine for them to say that he has 5 years, or even 10. Emperors plan for world domination over that kind of time period all the fricking time. There's no reason to remove it entirely because of how long it might be between seasons
>absolutely no build up >walk into a portal in final 30 seconds of show >announce a few weeks later they're dykes >receive resounding praise from the lgbt
Is it really that easy to make them happy?
Yes. Ever noticed the average tread about the meme gay show of the season and how rabid and horny are them?
That gay show with demons, Shit Ra starring lesbian Hak Venture, and basically any other gay shit with a grotesque artstyle and design.

Don't forget >air benders are based on buddhists who were pro celibacy in order to detach themselves from the world, yet the air nomads were all free love in the Korra comics >the fire nation was powerful because it valued all of its people, benders and non-benders, men and women, and yet they gave a shit about who the citizens were sleeping with and banned homosexuality since Sozin's era
The comics were written by one of ATLA's original creators, too. How do you frick up your own worldbulding this badly when the original was so good?
>the fire nation was powerful because it valued all of its people, benders and non-benders, men and women, and yet they gave a shit about who the citizens were sleeping with and banned homosexuality since Sozin's era
homosexuality is a result of social degeneracy and it was not a part of atla worldbuilding, the comics were the ones that added the gays
Once again it's proved that, for an adaptation to have a chance to be decent at least, you need >a good budget

No wonder the one piece adaptation worked, it hit all the marks and in our current times, that's as rare as catching a lightning in a bottle.
Yes, happened in January. They found tunnels dug out from under a synagogue in New York and were pulling shit-stained mattresses, high chairs, and children's toys out of them
>muh WE >that continent alongside a certain people doesnt even exist in the Atla universe
The cognitive dissonance here is unmatched. What goes through their brain doing this kind of shit. Anybody in here ever felt compelled to make some idk african dude white just because ? Is this some insecurity shit ?
But the story only took place over the course of 6 months
Lets be real Aang is 100+ years old and going through so much maturing and hardcore shit as he did must have some sort of change on his approach to handling business. The voice makes sense due to him becoming progressivly tougher :/
No clue why people liked that one piece show so much, I thought it was laughably bad when I saw it
People liked One Piece because it paid homage to the OG story without being a 1-1 adaption. It leans in and out of it's own absurdity in a passable manner, so it's just fun to watch.
One Piece fans liked it because they well knew it would never be a complete adaption. AtLA-fans are worse than Potterheads, so they won't be so forgiving.

>Toph will also not longer be barefoot

lol, they kist can't stop to butcher it. By know I can see how the og writers left not because it was too woke but simply because the changes became too stupid .
If you listen to Aang's voice at the beginning of Season 1 and compare to the end of Season 3, it's noticeably deeper and it completely works. These characters should be maturing as the series goes on.
>mid season two
that was the eclipse, the comet became the plot point in the 8th episode of season one, and even a bit before that it was hinted at, everything after that reveal was essentially about them having to get shit done within their very limited timeframe
>We can't have Sozin's comet because we don't know how old the actors will be
I'm sorry, what? How does that even make sense? Also, they're really not producing all three seasons back to back? Everyone will be 2-3 years older in the next season if it gets renewed at all. What a shitshow. At this point I'm only watching because the girl playing Ty Lee is cute.
It makes sense because the cartoon was a 2-year timeline stretched over 3 seasons produced over approx 5 years. Either they're already planning to stretch it out over 5-6 seasons, or they're going hard for sticking to the overall storyline, so a season will be 1-2 years in production. Kids age fast.
However, it could easily be resolved by just doing what GoT did, and make it clear that more time passes over the course of the adaption than does in the source material. So the morons making the show are literally for whatever reason not sharp enough to just plan the storyline ahead of production, which is ridiculous since it's already set up for them.
>So the morons making the show are literally for whatever reason not sharp enough to just plan the storyline ahead of production, which is ridiculous since it's already set up for them.
Not only that, but they added Azula in season 1 specifically because of that. So, like, realistically, they can map it out this way: >Season 1: Water (already pretty much confirmed to adapt entire Book) >Season 2: Earth 1/2 (Gaang picks up Toth, meets Wan Shi Tong, Aang starts Earthbending, season ends with them protecting walls of Ba Sing Se) >Season 3: Earth 2/2/ (time skip, they stayed in Ba Sing Se just for longer than in the original, Aang learnt Earthbending, season finality with Azula coup) >Season 4: Fire 1/2 (basically Black Sun and everything leading up to it) >Season 5: Fire 2/2/ (basically Sozin's Comet and everything leading up to it)
All 8 episode 40-50 minutes long. There, with that plan it's really not that hard to say Sozin's Comet will happen in like 5 years from season 1, the show inherently has good time transition points you can map out ahead with benefit of hindsight.
>Netflix believes Avatar will be their next big series instead of One Piece. >One Piece turned out to be a humongous success because the showrunner went above and beyond being faithful to the source material >Avatar showrunner shits on the source material
>let's remake this cartoon in live action but change the entire story
Why? This is exceedingly common too. It's almost always never a good idea to deviate from the source material for live action remakes
We were so fricking close. SO close.
To finally getting a goddamned western live action adaptation that doesn't shit all over the source material. One made with love, with great casting choices that truly bring these beloved characters to life. A way to make amends for the terrible M. Night Shyamalan movie we received almost a decade and a half ago.
BUT NO OF COURSE NOT
OF COURSE ITS GONNA SUCK DICK AND THE CREATORS THINK ITS SHIT
GEE WHO THOUGHT
SORRY FOR ASKING
WTF are you on about. You were NEVER close. Modern media literally cannot do that, because all incentives against doing the source material justice are absent.
These people don't look at stories, they look at IPs. And somewhere along the process they demand carte blanche authority to make changes, and have a sort of insular language to rationalize WHY they need to change it.
It's like that one comic with the woman watching a 90s movie she used to love as a child and then cringing because it doesn't suit her acquired progressive worldview. Except these people then take it a step further and change it to fit, because they believe that removing things particular to the original will improve it. And then they cry and whine when the fans don't adore their bad copy.
>Except these people then take it a step further and change it to fit, because they believe that removing things particular to the original will improve it. And then they cry and whine when the fans don't adore their bad copy.
Sounds like Kevin Smith or the She-Ra trannie, but with less spite
>don't include sozin's comet from the start and give completely reasonable explanation why >NO MY CHILDHOOD IS RUINED AHHHHHHH
holy frick how do these morons survive in the real world
It's not actually that big of a deal, man. It just sucks. Stop being a douchebag, unless YOU'RE actually so moronic that you thought it was that serious.
It just sucks. It's like being told you're about to receive an awesome Final Fantasy 7 modern remake, and then you get a story about crossdressing twinks dancing, walking along walls, and time jannies, spread across 3 games that you have to wait like 8 total years to play and like $250 to buy.
It feels shitty to know you could have something cool, but people in charge said NO.
In the original, it was a cool idea to force the player to play a bunch of stupid mini games, not this big scene that required a narrative like BEEE WHOO YOUUU AREEE FOR YOUR PRIDEEEEE into half assed Hatsune Miku rhythm game shit
At least FFX had our dads calling us homosexuals while we clicked around in their stupid minigame.
Don't deflect to armchairing on a shitty joke comparing a way better rhythm game scene in a way better Final Fantasy. I won't allow you to defend FF7R, even as a joke.

Gas chambers.
How the frick do you gas someone who can control the fricking air.
Well they're not earthbenders, so they can't control the chambers, so it's at least a 50% killrate.
Systemic racism
>the flashback episode that shows Sozin forced water tribe refugees to flood the air nomad tribes
Sokka being a sexist makes more sense now in this society though.
Because they’re just evil, ok?
Bred them out of existence by sending all their women and making fire babies
Please God, I fricking wish let her rape me
By just outnumbering them and using some made for this show weapon
Fire nation invited all the air Nomads to a red wedding and assassinated them all.
idk I guess the air benders are just pussies in the showverse
The fire nation wiped out the waterbenders in the South Pole without even using the comet
Susan's comet.
Malaria and guns
Yet another reason to not adapt a show like this into live action
Is this seriously the fandom we want to be?
Yes. ~~*People*~~ who desecrate our culture deserve to be killed.

I mean its Netflix. The Stranger Things kids have gone from pre teens to drawing their pensions in the time its taken to start the final season
I don't know why it takes so long for Netflix.
Every Witch season takes 3 years to produce.
But somehow HBO was able to print out GoT every year.
There's no reason to remove it entirely because of how long it might be between seasons
before we had tv series with more than 20 episode every year, now it's 8 episodes every 3-4 years
I was certain this was a fake news bait thread but I looked it up, they actually did it, they fricked removed Sozins Comet, what the frick?
>so basicly we finna clout chase through the OG dource we be usin and you ass better watch our shit cuh
Hahaha no
Korra chads stay winning
Nobody cares about your gay show. Get out.
>absolutely no build up
>walk into a portal in final 30 seconds of show
>announce a few weeks later they're dykes
>receive resounding praise from the lgbt
Is it really that easy to make them happy?
They did it to frick with the show’s international appeal and legacy because they were butthurt about their budget getting slashed.
Yes. Ever noticed the average tread about the meme gay show of the season and how rabid and horny are them?
That gay show with demons, Shit Ra starring lesbian Hak Venture, and basically any other gay shit with a grotesque artstyle and design.
Don't forget
>air benders are based on buddhists who were pro celibacy in order to detach themselves from the world, yet the air nomads were all free love in the Korra comics
>the fire nation was powerful because it valued all of its people, benders and non-benders, men and women, and yet they gave a shit about who the citizens were sleeping with and banned homosexuality since Sozin's era
The comics were written by one of ATLA's original creators, too. How do you frick up your own worldbulding this badly when the original was so good?
>the fire nation was powerful because it valued all of its people, benders and non-benders, men and women, and yet they gave a shit about who the citizens were sleeping with and banned homosexuality since Sozin's era
homosexuality is a result of social degeneracy and it was not a part of atla worldbuilding, the comics were the ones that added the gays
water tribe girls owe me sex
Once again it's proved that, for an adaptation to have a chance to be decent at least, you need
>a good budget
You know your show sucks when the only defense of it you can come up with is "who cares".
So whats going to happen when all the ATLA chuds get blown out and everyone loves the adapation, à la One Piece
Is Avatar popular in the israeli community?
Is this real??
Yes, happened in January. They found tunnels dug out from under a synagogue in New York and were pulling shit-stained mattresses, high chairs, and children's toys out of them
Maybe they're just Badgermoles
>muh WE
>that continent alongside a certain people doesnt even exist in the Atla universe
The cognitive dissonance here is unmatched. What goes through their brain doing this kind of shit. Anybody in here ever felt compelled to make some idk african dude white just because ? Is this some insecurity shit ?
It was still dogshit and it became the meme of the week because it's called le One Piece.
Prretending to like shit is not a personality
>people who like things I don't are just pretending
holy based
You don't speak for people. What you like is irrelevant. Show is still objectively bad.
I know it's hard to understand, bu please try our best
>Show is still objectively bad.
It's rated highly everywhere. It's time you realize your taste isn't objective
>You don't speak for people
Neither do you and most people disagree with you
>so mad he replied twice
You are taking about tastes, I am talking facts.
Facts dont' care about ratings and cattle audience, that's why argumentum ad populum is a fallacy.
The show would be bad even if the entire planet said it's good.
Deal with it, uncritical fomo hypetard
>facts with no evidence
That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.
autism is one hell of a drug
>the show is le bad because I don't like it
Ok
never mentioned tastes
evidences would require critical thinking on your part
>MUH RELATIVISM
Cope.
>objectively
So what's going to happen when the show is bad and will nobody rememeber it happening whether it gets temporary meme popularity or not?
>hire good animation studio with talented people at the helm
>make a third season
there, fixed
why would you need to do all that live action shit, who is hyped for this
>make a third season
DON'T GIVE THEM ANY FRICKING IDEAS.
Rumors are saying Aang isn’t the last air bender, and there is a female air bender who will reveal herself and defeat the fire nation
Toph will also not longer be barefoot cause that’s the “male gaze”
>Toph will also not longer be barefoot
this is will unironically probably happen for real though because of "safety concerns"
remember how Luffy couldn't wear sandals in the netflix show?
You just made all this up.
it baffles me that there are people like you in the world who cant see that this guy is just joking
lol, they kist can't stop to butcher it. By know I can see how the og writers left not because it was too woke but simply because the changes became too stupid .
except nobody complained about harry potter when the kids were obviously aging too fast
If you listen to Aang's voice at the beginning of Season 1 and compare to the end of Season 3, it's noticeably deeper and it completely works. These characters should be maturing as the series goes on.
But the story only took place over the course of 6 months
never watched it never wanted to
the path of anime leads to the solitude of its followers
im just not gonna watch it lul
They're already admitting there will be 3-5 years between each season with at least 60% chance it will be cancelled 1 week after season 1 drops
It's going to be satisfying watching Netflix crash and burn within the next 3 years when Stranger Things flops.
Poor Azula she dont deserved a ugly chink playing her
These writers deserve to lose their jobs to AI
At least Ty Lee bros won
>One Piece of all things is the most loyal to it's source material
The more I hear about ATLA the worse it gets
That doesn't say Sozin's Comet won't exist. That says it won't be present during the first season.
I am so ready for this disaster. Avatargays get what they deserve?
I hope this gas station shounen becomes memory holed after this.
Why are you so mean
I am tired of millennial video essayists holding the original up as some sort of masterpiece of writing.
Avatar is still better than 99% of the anime and whatever ghibli bullshit it is.
We only new about the comet mid season 2. They could just delay it till the 3rd season.
They learn about the comet in season 1.
>mid season two
that was the eclipse, the comet became the plot point in the 8th episode of season one, and even a bit before that it was hinted at, everything after that reveal was essentially about them having to get shit done within their very limited timeframe
Who's playing Azula? Tell me now Cinemaphile I know you frickers know!
Lizzy Yu
Some fat, roundfaced chink
So, like, realistically, they can map it out this way:
>Season 1: Water (already pretty much confirmed to adapt entire Book)
>Season 2: Earth 1/2 (Gaang picks up Toth, meets Wan Shi Tong, Aang starts Earthbending, season ends with them protecting walls of Ba Sing Se)
>Season 3: Earth 2/2/ (time skip, they stayed in Ba Sing Se just for longer than in the original, Aang learnt Earthbending, season finality with Azula coup)
>Season 4: Fire 1/2 (basically Black Sun and everything leading up to it)
>Season 5: Fire 2/2/ (basically Sozin's Comet and everything leading up to it)
All 8 episode 40-50 minutes long. There, with that plan it's really not that hard to say Sozin's Comet will happen in like 5 years from season 1, the show inherently has good time transition points you can map out ahead with benefit of hindsight.
why are adoptions allowed at all? you have sourve material that you rape for its aesthetics so you can tell the same story you've already done.
its a cartoon
Gee. Almost as if it would work better as an ANIMATED series.
thats cool they should make one
>Netflix believes Avatar will be their next big series instead of One Piece.
>One Piece turned out to be a humongous success because the showrunner went above and beyond being faithful to the source material
>Avatar showrunner shits on the source material
Cant wait to see how Avatar crashes and burns.
One Piece was dogshit. It was just the usual meme show of the month
>show sucks and people hate it
>doesn't get renewed
>once again Toph doesn't get a chance to be ruined
>let's remake this cartoon in live action but change the entire story
Why? This is exceedingly common too. It's almost always never a good idea to deviate from the source material for live action remakes
Somebody should remake the Shindler's list but transform the prisonners into volunteers and never show any violence
I didn't like the One Piece adaptation that much but this is shaping up to making that look like a masterpiece in comparison.
There are also the c**ts in charge of the shitflix castlevania show.
Yeah, there's plenty of those c**ts
Wait for their devil may cry "anime"
>don't include sozin's comet from the start and give completely reasonable explanation why
>NO MY CHILDHOOD IS RUINED AHHHHHHH
holy frick how do these morons survive in the real world
It's not actually that big of a deal, man.
>Final Fantasy 7 modern remake, and then you get a story about crossdressing twinks
that was in the original though
In the original, it was a cool idea to force the player to play a bunch of stupid mini games, not this big scene that required a narrative like BEEE WHOO YOUUU AREEE FOR YOUR PRIDEEEEE into half assed Hatsune Miku rhythm game shit
At least FFX had our dads calling us homosexuals while we clicked around in their stupid minigame.
>he relates to being called a homosexual by his dad
seems like your own issues spilling out here more than anything the game did wrong.
Don't deflect to armchairing on a shitty joke comparing a way better rhythm game scene in a way better Final Fantasy. I won't allow you to defend FF7R, even as a joke.
listen man, the thing you have to understand about FF7R is I haven't played it and have no intention of ever doing so
Are stream piggies so low IQ that they are unable to feel embarrassment over funding stinker after stinker?
Korra will bend time and show up in season 2 to help him defeat Ozai
Live action sucks anyway, you can tell from just a couple pictures that this will be ultra gay
This is insane. How could netflix frick up an adaptation of something?
Oh no no no....
Frick you, that's not real.
They can't be THIS moronic.
its fake
>there is no war in ba sing se
There is no There is no war in Ba Sing Se Ba Sing Se
Pretty sure it's fake. They'll use it to parallel some IRL politics instead.
>They'll use it to parallel some IRL politics instead.
Ba Sing Se is gonna get a wall, and the Fire Nation is gonna pay for it!
>subsequent seasons
Implying there'll be any
The live action Avatar with be a sitcom about 4 young adults sharing a loft apartment in the big city.
Ty Lee reveal when
