I mean she was genuinely distraught over the idea of Peter being possibly severely injured/dead and hugged him after finding out he was okay. She's your average mean girl high schooler. That's better in my opinion than the spiteful, manipulative, and self-serving traits Spectacular Gwen has.
The only things Gwen did wrong was making her move on Peter too late (but at least she did it) and getting with Harry the first time. She was very patient with Peter's nonsense and by the finale, she was being emotionally manipulated by Harry into staying with her.
Yeah, honestly the only ones you can blame are peter (but mostly he just doesnt seem to consider consequences with foresight) and harry (altough that's a can of worms tied to norman's stellar parenting).

Eh, the bitter glance she gives Peter and Liz before saying yes to going out with Harry implies she was at best settling for him as a second option and at worst trying to make Peter jealous. Which isn't a great move on your friend whose just out of rehab, even if he pulls worse later.
She at least realises they shouldn't be making out when they're still dating other people, unlike Peter.

The word was always that Gwen wouldn't be dying in the series or in high-school.
Since Peter's endgame was confirmed to be MJ and they talked about the College specials being darker, fans took it to mean Gwen would die there.
Since then then though Greg has come out and said they had no plans to kill Gwen. Whether that was always true or if they just hadn't decided when the show was cancelled, and Greg settled on no after I'm not sure.
