It wasn't cancelled due to lack of interest. It's copyright shit. Disney and Sony would have to collaborate to get it done. I imagine it's just better for Disney to make their own Spidey shows with complete control.

      Anonymous

No it was cancelled because they wanted to push Drake Bell's Ultimate Spider-Man at the time. This was further supported by Drake redubbing over Keaton's lines in Avengers EMHs.

        Anonymous

That doesn't contradict the first point. Disney/Marvel doesn't want to continue Spectacular because they have to pay extra for it, so they want to make their own Spider-Man cartoon as a result. So, they'll push their own Spider-Man show.

The dub thing was a symptom of Loeb's control freak tendencies when he was in charge of Marvel Television. They also meddled heavily with the latter half of Avengers: EMH.

What's wrong with Man of action? They've made some good shows.

They've made one great show, Generator Rex, and a couple okay seasons of Ben 10. Everything else they've made, and especially everything they've made in the past decade, has been trash.
Their Spider-Man show was particularly fricking terrible and only held in high regards by dumb waifugays jerking it to White Tiger's ass.

      >I imagine it's just better for Disney to make their own Spidey shows with complete control.
All evidence points to Disney being utterly incapable of making a Spider-man show.

I highly doubt it. Disney would have to pay Sony for the rights to do more with it. Also, they're already creating their own Spider-Man series.

I don't like any of the Spider-Man animated adaptations, but this cartoon was the only one that adapted the green goblin correctly.

For whatever its wroth, YJ always had the issue of too many characters with too litlte focus, ever since season 2. Spectacular didnt have that, and it'd be antithetical to its concept as "education of peter parker"

True. And even if Weisman and Cook wouldn't resolve EVERY plot thread, the show did have a set endgame for season 5 and Peter's graduation. It would be a different beast than YJ or even Gargoyles.

            There are ummovable things like
            >Season 5 ending with graduation
            >Peter marrying MJ at the end
            >Characters like sin eater, jackal, morbious and a few others becoming their villanous selves.

            >Spectacular didnt have that
It would if it came back. They'd make it just like the latest show. Introduce Miles, give him and Gwen spider powers, then start rushing into arcs that don't make sense for a high school aged Peter like Spider-Island

Miles maybe, altough the answer greg gave was that if he could it would be seasons (plural) down the line. And gwen getting spider powers just wouldnt fit how planned stuff is. Hell the clones are more likley than her.

If I recall, Scorpion, Jackal, Hydro-Man and Hobgoblin all made civilian appearances, either by name or in person, in SSM seasons 1 and 2, so it's fair to assume they'd have become supervillains in subsequent seasons.

                Anonymous

Jackal, Sin Eater, Hydro Man, Hobgoblin (both ned and kingsley), Scorpion, HydroMan and Carnage all had their alter egos appear. And outside of the first two were all confirmed for season 3. But jackal and sin eater were said to be there eventually. And greg said he'd do clone stuff since warren was there.

                Anonymous

I do wonder if Greg was going to double down and make Warren a creep towards Gwen or just have him be the typical evil scientist who provides genetic upgrades like he did with Kraven and then steps it up by creating clones.

Nah, Miles is something they'd do AT LEAST after Peter's a veteran at the job. And no way on Gwen. Weisman may have been open to add more modern stuff from Ultimate Spider-Man or even Brand New Day, but most of the show was based on classic Lee/Ditko stories.

You're operating under the assumption that Weisman would be able to do whatever the hell he wants, which would never be the case.
The Night Gwen Stacy Died for example, would never be allowed to be adapted now.

Miles maybe for the college stuff as pushing it, but yeah spider-gwen seems beyond unlikley.

Altough the show does already have a miles and all.

They could be cheeky about two major characters being Miles. I remember when the 2017 series just used Raymond as the Jackal to avoid confusing kids.

                Anonymous

Maybe. I guess with Miles (M) i could see them doing a thing where he gets his powers during the tail end of Peter's career and peter gives him the mantle to be a family man (since we know he ends up married) or something to that effect.

                [...]

Honestly i have my doubts he would have done the death of gwen, at least in hs, he was pretty adamant about it in interviews. And Norman's "death" already happened in the show.

                Anonymous

I mean it's one thing to "kill" off an adult Norman and another thing entirely to do it to a high school Gwen.
I'm just so fricking sick of high school Spider-Man, let him go to college. 90% of his most iconic stories happened at or after college

                Anonymous

Sure, but again greg explictly said he didnt want to kill gwen (at least in hs). And half of the fallout, that which happened due to norman's death, already would have happened.

Well to be fair Spectacular was the first major adaptaion to do so. And it handled it a million times better than all the subsequent ones (which mostly didnt even try to do spider-man half the time).

Weisman said his intention was to do darker PG-13 DTVs set in college after the season 5 finale. Gwen would have likely died there for maximum impact.

Good thing is that when they bring him into the MCU, I don’t think Peter would stay much longer so it will be free of MCU synergy

Miles would absolutely be added if they brought it back.

Na, Hobie would become Prowler and be Peter's sidekick.

Him and Gwen have made me wonder lately, what makes a character?
It it juts a name and appearance? People claim to love Gwen and/or Mile because of adaptations that have little-to-nothing to do with their source material. Adaptations where their entire personality is changed by other writers.
Is it the same character just because of a name?
If that's so, then why is it that adaptations where Peter or MJ are given new personality that stray too far from the source material are the one that are shit? Why does changing the personality of one couple make them finally get fans while changing the personality of another couple make fetid garbage?
