Not as good as the book but it's decent. I just rewatched it a few months ago and thought that it was surprisingly respectful to the source material.
I also kinda wonder whether Crichton took the Sphere idea from Roadside Picnic and/or Tarkovsky's Stalker film.

Kino. The beginning especially is 10/10, the rest feels like they shot twice as much shit and cut it all. Still a good film with some really interesting aspect.

Takes away all the cool scifi just to spend 70% of the movie on boring spooky shit.

Sharon Stone is a real old-school movie star. I know because she plays the exact same lethal b***h in every movie, and all I want is more of the same.

The tone is very bookish in a way I can see putting some people off and it's definitely not perfect but the fact it has 11% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to some of the schlock out the past decade is ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. Lots to love about it. Absolutely fantastic interior sets of the like you just don't see anymore. In fact you don't see comfily mid-budget movies like this full-stop anymore. Make sure you watch the theatrical/general dvd release version and not the TV version if you're torrenting, different shitty ending in the latter.

Do not open this link if you haven't seen the film yet OP, title is a spoiler but others ITT, I've just got to gush over this scene. Nails everything best about this movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOxmixap5yw

It's pretty good on the first watch but felt silly when I rewatched. The mistery only works one time when you go without knowing what's about, I think you may find boring since you already know the story.

I just rewatched this last night. The internet is a simulation.

Its an alright movie, I haven't read the book but I get the feeling its better. The pacing seems kind of weird and the characters act like morons (as in, they come across the most incredible, earth shattering discovery in human history and immediately afterward all of them except for one guy want to leave and go home).

Sharpn Stone also doesn't show her breasts.

The book is one of Crichtons best and fully captured me when I read it a couple years before the film came out. Overall the film is a 7/10 at best but a disappointment, it never really goes as deep as the book and came off as glib but I also haven't watched it in about 15 years.

      >Sharpn Stone
That's a great nickname specially since she loves to brag about her IQ.

Book is excellent, likely my favorite Michael Crichton novel.
Movie just made me want to read the book again. It loses a lot of internal monolog and character growth.

the ending is one of the most stupidiest endings ive ever seen in any piece of entertainment, and ive seen many shitty shows and movies and played many shitty games.

      >he doesn't know about bad trailers
we live in one of the worst timelines for movie trailers. Before the year 2000 it seems trailers were made to humiliate the movie.

I liked it better when it was called Forbidden Planet. Less blacks, less israeli, no women with dike-cuts, more original. Better all around.

I never get why they made the Sphere a ball of cheese when the book it's a perfectly round metal sphere with intricate grooves and stuff on it.
