ASM 31 dropped and we have our first look at Madame Monstrosity. Her name is Dr. Shannon Stillwell. She is the mother of Farley and Harlan Stillwell who created Scorpion and the Human Fly respectively.

She seems to think Bailey is created with her technology
For an old lady she got nice breasts
True
I was hoping Madame Monstrosity herself would be a monster girl. I guess we will see how this goes. Also does this mean Squirrel Girl gets involved in the first issue because Madame Monstrosity thinks she is also made with her tech? I look forward to seeing how they escape from her or whatever she throws at them.
Is it just me or did Marvel take inspiration from the book The Island of Dr. Moreau? I kind of get that vibe from her.
So what hybrid monster will she be sending to hunt Bailey down? You can make some good horror out of it.
Bailey is so going to clown on this old lady with his quips.
This is professor Pyg waifu.
>Professor Pyg
Glad I wasn't the only one to think it.
>humanimals
humans are already animals, what a stupid name
A lot of normies see it humans as better.
frickable cat maid
Madame Monstrosity also has a daughter. She will probably be sent to track down Bailey for her mother.
I just realized I messed up. Shannon is the name of Madame Monstrosity's daughter. I should avoid speed reading.
That's the Regent assistant.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
It worries me if the Regent returns once more, unless this can make RYV happen on Earth-616.
I doubt he will but maybe that is just wishful thinking
>siamese cat maid
It happened before?
I do kind of like her 60’s Batman TV villain vibe in terms of her look.
As for her claiming that she’s the mother of every monster villain in Spider-Man, remember that she’s supposed to be a megalomaniacal nut. So it might not necessarily be so.
I was about to say she gave me the vibes of a Batman villain.
Madame Monstrosity also has connections to other Spider-Man villains.
Administrator-Sama?
Kek. If a drawfriend is around, I would like to see Bailey dressed up as Scout while telling Madame Monstrosity he is going to bonk her on the head.
here you go.
i have some thoughts but i'll just wait for the rest of the story. reserve my evaluation before i can get the whole picture.
Bailey looks so cute cosplaying as Scout.
>i have some thoughts but i'll just wait for the rest of the story. reserve my evaluation before i can get the whole picture.
Same. This is meant to be a teaser so there is more to see.
Can you draw Bailey getting molested by an octopus mermaid?
They don't draw stuff like that, anon. Also this is a blue board.
I honestly can see Bailey as a Scout main in TF2. Good job on that art. Also you have me curious of your thoughts. I am also waiting to see how the story unfolds.
Could this woman become a new enemy for Peter? I mean, Peter has fought against her creations so many times...
Solicitations for Spider-Boy imply Peter will be in it to help Bailey out so I guess she will be his enemy too at some point.
Well, if she's after his "sidekick", I guess it would be personal for him.
MORBIN TIME
That's annoying
>New big bad is responsible for the creation of previous villains, but she was better.
Don't do that, you fools.
I don't think it is like that She could just be a paranoid schizo who thinks Connors and everyone else ripped her off.
This is Slott, he's enough of a hack to try to make her the literal mother of all spider-man villain research. It's the later authors that are going to be smart and make her a crazy b***h who presumed everyone from stegron to walrus man has a link to her.
And this is why I've given up on cape books.
There is utterly nothing to get invested in because it can be undone at a whim.
Any new idea that isn't loyal to 80 year old rat's nest of continuity is purged or diminished.
Nothing meaningfuilly new can be added because it's all been done before, or the aforementioned point.
Legacy books are fun to a point, but all the tentpole titles have dragged on past the point of viability.
Don't count your chickens yet. I'll agree with you if she is as bad as characters like Black Hat from Villainous who was used to take the credit for EVERY Cartoon Network villain. Even fricking Aku from Samurai Jack. There is still a chance she is just paranoid about her work being used by others. The fact she went to threaten her own daughter about her probably using her tech behind her back (panel is not posted) and how she writes down faulty instructions implies paranoia. Her only reason to think Bailey is a result of her work is because she saw his fangs in the paper. Slott still hasn't fricked up yet, but I do expect it. Don't get me wrong.
Are you also angry that all famous mathematicians and physicists are connected to Archimedes due to his ideas laying down the ground for future accomplishments?
It's Slott, he can't help ruining something good he has going.
>something good
You heard me. Take away the Spider-Verse intro and Bailey is okay.
ok
I would not say it's ruined. Not yet at least. I am kind of disappointed at the implication Connors may have used her research, but the Stillwells having connections to Spider-Man villains is not far fetch. Her sons are responsible for the creation of Scorpion, Human Fly, and their research would later go on to create The Answer and James Natale becoming the Vulture. Anyway, Bailey himself is still solid as a character, and there are more villains planned.
>Anyway, Bailey himself is still solid as a character
No he's not you moronic pedo.
Tell me why other than you just thinking your opinion is fact and you have a homosexual parasocial relationship with Slott?
Slott is bad, his creations are bad, and you're a pedophile. Frick you.
>No he's not
>
Slott can't help trying to make himself look like a good writer by forcing in all his OC's and tying them into other, better creations. Oh look more regent garbage. Oh look this character is tied in further to every other character's histories and it's yet another mystery for the customer to buy more books to get shit retcons. Yeah I get it, Slott is somewhat rational in becoming the most cynical writer and it's a smart business move for the writer to make safe bets that could net him more sales and characters that could turn our popular. Though at some point it dilutes the interest so much that it becomes what it is now. It just reeks of Slott ripping off JMS yet again while combining it with his obsession of making his writing feed back into obscure characters so it looks like he knows continuity.
That would be good writing, we can't have that.
I think it's more that, like any scientist, her research has been released to the public and other scientists have used aspects of it in their own work over the years. It's not like she kicked Kurt Connor's door down and gave him a perfect plan and then he made an oopsie. He did his own research, used data found by another scientist alongside it, and then it all went wrong. Which isn't weird for science it's normal to use research from others. But maybe I'm just giving it a more generous read than it deserves.
To be honest I assumed something similar. We don't really know much about Madame Monstrosity. We don't even know her real name except that her last name might also be Stillwell. At some point she could have been a well known scientist someone like Dr. Connors heard about and studied. She is old and definitely has a history. It could be a more nuanced influence than something direct. Otherwise we are going to need panels showing us this.
DAMN Slobb will ripoff the high evolutionary from Unlimited.
That'd be the best outcome. Just having such an ego to think that any other animal-related science has to do with her.
But yeah, don't exactly have high hopes that that'll be the case.
It might play out that way. Squirrel Girl is going to be involved with Madame Monstrosity along with Bailey, and the only reason why I can think of is because she thinks SG is also created with her research. We obviously know that she isn't, and it gives her more of a reason to team up with Bailey.
Slott is a bad writer with dumb ideas so why are you surprised he'd present you with a dumb idea brought forth by a bad writer?
Yeah, writing-for-wiki-edits has been Slott's thing for years.
The real Final Boss appears!
I think The Rhino powers are not actually related to a Rhinos, of course he may have a couple of copycats through history
Some depictions have him drawn like a hybrid of a rhino. The latest example I can think of was his planned design for Across the Spider-Verse before he got scrapped.
That was basically the animated "Ultimate Spider-Man" version.
In comics, his main origin was experimentation with gamma and a hard suit.
I don't get why anons are upset about this. Dr. Connors I understand, but Rhino is a thug with no brain. He got turned into Rhino by nameless scientists. Who is to say they didn't recycle equipment of Farley after he died or whatever? That is how they managed to have Farley be indirectly responsible for the existence of the Answer who is a pain in the ass for Peter. As for Morbius who the frick cares. Marvel can never decide if he should be an anti-hero or whatever the hell they try to do with him.
The rhino isnt some crossbreed of human and rhino DNA, he's a gamma mutate in an grey suit with a horn attached to it
As someone who is actually a fan of Morbius, Marvel can go Frick Off with that implication and stick it up their pimply virgin, unshaven troony asses. Because whats implied there is that he stole her research, possibly even for his Nobel prize research. Which coming from a genderbent Professor Pyg, a two bit Jackal/Sauron rippoff, is fricking stooopid and lazy. "Look, our villain is cooler because we retconned shit so that they took inspiration from her?" Does she actually do anything evil or cool?
I'm glad Leto's movie ruined any further use for the character if the Vita comics, B-Negative, and these awful cameos are what's coming out. I hope it costs Marvel more to renew the trademark and copyright than what they'll ever get outta using or reprinting him.
It's rather hilarious this will be the best part of 31 and it doesn't even need to be good.
Compared to the rest of the issue it's not that hard. Felecia leaving Peter was so moronic. They are really trying to make Peter all alone.
wait is Spider-Boy a human boy with the powers of a spider or a spider turned into a physical human child?
He is a human boy with spider powers. One of the issues have Bailey talks about having a photo of his mother which suggests human origins.
The insect butler looks cool.
Mom, can we have High Evolutionary?
We have High Evolutionary at home, honey
Slott needs to bring back Detective Yuri already.
Conway turned her into asian female Punisher and now Marvel hates The Punisher and anything like him.
Wasn't Slott the one that had her use a rocket launcher against Negative?
Why? Isn't she just DeWolff-lite? Moreso given Slott had her wear a mask to make herself look like Jean to get people second guessing until he revealed it like 2 or 3 issues later? Made Yuri look pretty callous/moronic towards DeWolff's surviving family considering both her and her brother are dead.
Never heard of her.
Now that Madame Monstrosity is revealed Slott said we will be seeing 4 more villains of Bailey's rogue gallery.
>Between SPIDER-MAN #11 and SPIDER-BOY #1 you will hear about another one and meet three more!
https://twitter.com/DanSlott/status/1689331998819483648
I would assume it's just the cat, bug, bird and rooster hybrids. Seeing as that totals four and they work for her.
I doubt he was referring to them. However, Marvel does reveal concept art before a run gets released sometimes so we'll probably see what he is talking about.
She also reminds me of the Wicked Stepmother from Disney’s animated Cinderella.
Can somebody please storytime the issue?
The anon who usually does it always begins later or tomorrow.
Here is the storytime of the issue for those who want to read it.
The short story starts here.
Since it is so short I'll storytime it.
End
>Spider-Boy: An Urban Myth Or a Monster Amongst Us
But Mr. Jameson you literally have a picture of Spider-Boy.
I just realized that Hogsworth in that second panel looked uncomfortable because Madame Monstrosity was eating bacon. I love small details like that.
Slott finally explained Bailey's costume and how his teeth goes through it. It's not a symbiote.
>Unstable molecule mask. It can open and close at will.
>Also useful for eating and/or sipping things through a straw.
How considerate of Reed Richards.
Thank goodness it is not a symbiote. Symbiote lore is all over the fricking place.
That must be the fastest retcon in history because in picrel it looks like his mask is coating the insides of his mouth.
Is it really a retcon if we barely had any information to begin with? Some anons here have assumed it was unstable molecules, too.
If you look closely at
it looks like they altered the artwork. It looked too weird perhaps?
>Unstable molecule
Unstable molecules baby, I don't gotta explain shit!
How most sci fi concepts works
Bailey hissing is fricking hilarious to me.
I'm waiting for him to get his ass chased down by Blade, with every future meeting between the two of them always having Blade giving him stinkeye because he's still not convinced that little shit isn't a vamp.
Given the (pretty decent) probability that Bailey is a animal-human hybrid freak and has shown he can grow additional eyes and fangs, perhaps he will have a full on spider monster transformation?
Also, I find it funny that if Bailey is part-Spider from Madame Monstrosity's experiments it would resemble Miguel being half-spider from gene editing quite a lot.
Now that the preview is out he is similar to Miguel. I like it.
When is the next issue for adjectiveless Spider-Man?
Coming next week. That's where we apparently learn all about Bailey's past, and Peter apparently changes his mind about having him as an occasional sidekick.
i don't like bailey
he's too small
On the 16th to be precise.
Never mind the cat maid, that other guy's a kakapo.
Madame Monstrosity clearly has a personal interest in breeding endangered animals.
Good catch.
>Ejaculation helmet
Sounds like the name of a band.
the spider-man #11 preview shows Baily being trained by Daredevil, and that he goes bald when he goes. into Kaijin mode
>https://monkeysfightingrobots.co/marvel-comics-exclusive-preview-spider-man-11/
>shota abomination
Stop, my penis can only grow so hard.
Holy frick. Also I don't think he becomes bald. He probably had his head shaved while he was experimented on. Unless we see him transform without his mask we can't be sure though. Anyway, so the lens do have a purpose, and I guess this is what Slott meant by Bailey's story was going to be weird. Cool he got to meet and be trained by Daredevil though. I have a feeling we will also see the moment Reed gives Bailey his costume.
He likely had his head shaved like
suggests. Deadpool was shaved bald during his experimentation if I remember right.
I really like that Daredevil helped train Bailey..
I agree since I like Daredevil.
Posting the pages in this thread for those who don't want to click the link.
End of preview.
Thanks anon. Glad Peter has at least calmed down enough to talk to Bailey.
You're welcome and I agree. Just six more days until we get the rest of the issue.
Here is a higher res of the preview.
>Bailey was trained by Daredevil
Kino.
We are going to get a bunch of cameos according to Slott. I am already betting on the Fantastic Four. Bailey is obviously going to explain to Peter about how Reed gave him the costume.
Now I am really looking forward to the next issue. Daredevil being in this was something I didn't know I wanted. Also, I love seeing Peter's old suit. The current one looks too weird.
>a legacy character that's not just "existing character but X" where X is the latest idpol trash
Someone go check on Marvel they're clearly not well
Marvel is healing. They just have to fire Wells.
This is giving me good vibes so far. Hopefully that isn't a false positive.
Why would it? Seems like Peter will come to understand Bailey. We will see why Peter took him in as his sidekick.
8?
What are you talking about?
Spider-Man says the boy has 8 eyes. Unless his human eyes no longer work, that seems different than what is depicted.
he has 8 eyes?
according to how he's drawn here he has 10? what? how do you frick that up?
It's just poor wording. I think Peter was meant to say that he has 8 extra eyes. Not that the number is suppose to be 8 in total.
So not only does he have a costume similar to House of M Peter, he was bald like him too.
How many young Spider People is Daredevil a mentor figure with? Off the top of my head is Peni and her version of Daredevil.
Besides Peter when he was younger I think Miles? Not sure.
.....Rhino isn't a animal hybrid, he's a gamma (hulk) mutate with a special suit of armor grafted to his body. The frick is this? This b***h is just a weird mix of High Evolutionary and Doctor Tramma
The same why how Scorpion is not exactly a hybrid even though Farley managed to create him with her research.
the bald look is not cute imho.. but nothing's gonna be perfect
Good thing his hair grows back later on. He was just shaved like most test subjects in fiction.
ahh, okay. i was still half asleep and had to re-read that part with Daredevil being a flashback, my bad. imagine if he was stuck being bald lmao. also, i'm still warming up to madame m. kind of mixed feelings. slott didn't write her to be the progenitor of the older characters, just that some they used some of her research and bad things happen to them. chalk it up to narcissism or something even if in a way, it makes them look a touch extra incompetent. harlan and farley, sure, they're her idiot kids now but dr. connors, rhino and morbius? that's where it's kind of a mixed bag to me.
like the other anon said, it's possible that they took some of her research without crediting her but she is a new character and that makes it a bit harder to take in. it does reflect the scientific process in the scientist characters in that you learn from others, read their published stuff and try to apply things to solve problems (usually crediting your peers). i do like the idea of her being haughty about her papers, the superiority complex kind of works with the tone she uses talking to her daughter
Rhino works since he is not a scientist who experimented on himself. He was a random thug who got tested on. The scientists who worked on him could be written as trying to recreate Farley's method in creating Scorpion. Farley made him by having him be connected to a scorpion themed armor he is unable to take off, which is similar to Rhino having his suit grafted onto him. It would also not be the first time random scientists reused Farley or Harlan's methods. It's how we got the creation of the Answer.
