This is the first time I'm actually disappointed with this run. I've enjoyed !punished! Norman.
The Gold Goblin mini was great, and Norman's one of the main reasons the Red Goblin book has been good. This change back to Norman Norman may be inevitable, but it feels too soon. Sure, it's been a few years since that Sin Eater story, but they've only just started doing anything good with Good Norman.
I'm not ofc 100% certain they'll have Evil Norman back in action during or after #34, but what do you anons think he'll do once he does go full Goblin mode again? Petty crime is a waste, underground stuff is a possibility, but Norman seems beyond that. Tied up with symbiotewank since his grandson and daughter-in-law are involved with that?
I've been enjoying good Norman as well and it's a bit of a surprise. He's ofc better in the side books and even Slott of all people is doing fine with him in his book.

kraven's had a couple decent modern ones over the years. I liked the Scarlet Spider one where he tries fricking with Kaine only to get in way over his head.
That was the one good story he had in 10 years of being around. And even that wasnt worth destroying an actual masterpiece to get it.

Kraven has a few good stories, but last hunt is his big finale. With soul of the hunter as a good epilogue.

the interpersonal drama felt organic and the story flowed really well between Peter's personal/lovelife into the villain of the week, as well as crossing over pretty frequently with other then-running titles Tobin wrote for, like F4 and X-Men.

Most of the "conflicts" in spider-man stories for the past 20 years felt like dogshit to me, I didn't like them; and I thought that the weekly format with continuity for peter's personal life was a really great way to change the flow of a spiderman story

What she has with Paul wasn't even shown. If they wanted to commit to it, they would have. Instead it's all ambiguous and anything they did share on panel can be interpreted as platonic.

Kraven still came back from the dead, still spent ten years running around in other Marvel books because Slott didn't want to use him, and now his death story is Hunted, not Last Hunt. Pretending that Last Hunt has been restored as Kraven's death is just cope and denial.
A clone of Kraven that doesn't have his memories or history is going to be a poor substitute for the original, too. We're basically back at the point where Alyosha cut his hair and started looking exactly like Kraven, you can pretend it's the real thing but you know it isn't.
Because Kraven knew his victory was tainted by his misguided children, and never wanted to come back to life. To restore his honor, he wanted to die at the hands of his clone son. Since there's zero chance of original Kraven coming back, everything has been set right.

He's wanted to die ever since he was resurrected, his family didn't think through the implications of resurrecting a suicide victim. Hunted just worked around the limitations of "only Spider-Man can kill him" by handwaving it that he could also be killed while wearing a Spider-Man costume.
But all of this doesn't change the fact that re-killing Kraven after a decade of him being back does absolutely nothing to "reinstate Last Hunt". It just makes Kraven dead again in a different story.

We'd all have said that before 2010, and it still happened once, setting a precedent. There's always an above zero chance of dead villains getting brought back, no matter how remote it may seem right now.

If anyone did bring him back in the future they wouldn't be messing with a beloved classic story, they'd just be messing with a middling story from the Spencer run. If all you wanted was Kraven dead again and you're happy with that, just say so. But stop pretending this does anything to reinstate his original death.

Also i don't see both Gwen or even Mary Jane going after him after what happened, one because she wants to keep distance of her past and start a new, and Mary Jane because she feels guilty for all that happened and not wanting peter to ever go back as spider man, so marvil being markek gives her the mantle and that milf outfit.

Because saying you hate Miles is a yelp in the crowd and not entertaining discussion in my opinion. Why do I hate Sandman? Because he's fricking boring, and probably the least interesting career criminal of the Sinister Six. If I wanted to read about a guy trying to earn a buck, I'd go for Scorpion, Shocker, or Electro. When you're a bad guy shifting into heroism, you've hit a wall, and when it's Flint's biggest character achievement I think that's a problem. Plus I think Hydro-Man is cooler and not nearly given the same kind of attention he should due to Sandy's seniority.

It's been a while since I last watched but I remember Sandman having some great fights in Spectacular, especially in his debut episode. He's cool when you get creative with his powers but he's so OP that it's kind of hard to write a scenario where he uses his powers in a cool way but not so cool that he should be unbeatable.
Sandman is good just not as a villain. He was at his best as a member of the wildpack. And even then he's good as a guy that wants money while having an actually fleshed out backstory. Electro suffers more.
But that's my point. I don't want reformed bad guys made heroes, I want villains. You can still be a piece of shit crook with the good sense to team up with the hero now and then when it's for mutual survival. You know how many goddamn bad guys gone good have happened over the years? It's repetitive

Out of all the classic rogues, I think Electro is easily the worst. The guy has nothing really going for him. Lightning is an OP power set, sure, but it's also dime a dozen
For all Sandman's back-and-forth flip-flopping over the decades between Spidey or the FF, a villain or hero, normal guy or Osborn cousin, Flint or William, his power set is at least incredibly distinct and very visually cool. So he's got that over Electro, easily, though I think it's fair to say that Sandman doesn't really have a great issue or story arc where he's the central villain.
Electro is great. His gimmick is to reflect hat Peter's power is ultimately pointless without his character. Electro can suck up the entire eastern seaboard's power grid, and he'd still be the petty, insecure, little man that he is. Magneto told Max this to his face.
There's very little, if any, theming or nuance to Sandman in my opinion
For me it's Chameleon. I'd probably like him more if he was a Fury villain, doing glowBlack person shit rather than being a normalgay Spider-Man villain outclassed in every way by Mysterio.

Why would anyone think anyone else wants this or thinks this is relatable? Kamala's a Captain Marvel fanboy and even she has the decency to not call herself "Captain Marvel", Miles isn't even a Spider-Man fanboy, he just really wants to be Spider-Man and will fight with Peter about it, makes him seem psychotic.
You know, something I find so disappointing about western comics in general, not just with Spider-Man, is a lack of any kind of permanence. It's just retelling the same storylines over and over and over again. When's the last time we had a genuinely new villain? The spider-verse vampires that were transparently ripped from Dr. Sleep?
Even when we do get big changes (like Kamala, though I didn't particularly care for her) those changes are ultimately reversed so that things can go right back to the status quo.
Even the homosexual fricking spiderverse movie reinforced this notion by making its entire premise about how the status quo MUST be canon.

That was still four years ago, 19 years ago if you count Kindred actually being Gwen's clone from a prior storyline.
I still think it's a thematically cool idea and has the potential to stick around in some form through new media, like how the MCU managed to turn OMD into something tolerable with No Way Home.
Maybe, we'll have to see where they go with it - if anywhere else
Sins Past always left a shitty taste in my mouth, so I've never been fond of them revisiting it, but I did like the design of Kindred and some of the ideas they had with the character the second time around
Yeah, hopefully Sins Past never makes it to an adaptation or gets mentioned ever again, though I'd still be up for seeing A Kindred concept and design villain, someone to give him (her?) the Mr Freeze treatment, though it'd probably have to be a long running Spider-Man for the "mysterious ghost from the past haunting him" premise to work. Maybe it could be MCU's Mysterio comeback identity in 2-3 movies, it ties both into the nightmare theme, the past looking for revenge, and the fact Mysterio did indeed play a part in Sins Past retroactively.

The thing is that spider-man up to the 90s was a book where that DIDNT happen. But since then slowly but surely lasting stuff got walked back, wether for good or bad depends on who you ask. Untill marvel decided when they got rid of the marriage that they wanted peter himself to be a static character.
