Considering this is most likely going to last for like three or four issues because Peters back to is his old self in Gang War. Place your bets on what's going to happen to Norman's sins and if the people of the city will hold a grudge against peter as his time as The Spider who Gobs.

Norman gets his sins back, becomes evil/fights it off and dies
Gentlemen, let's talk about real business. Like, what's the logical next step for Peter to do now. Besides suicide.
Idk, go see what Black cat is doing?
Michele is a bust so I think his next logical course of action is to tap that White Rabbit ass
If anything I guess with michele their gonna progress the relationship by forcing things to happen to them.
>In gang war she finds out peters identity, decides to protect it with lawyer confidentiality & that kickstarts whatever their dynamic is.
As if enough people don’t already know Peter’s identity at this point.
Yup, yup. Hopefully he starts spanking her to keep her in line too.
What, you're not thrilled about another stupid event in Gang War? That's going to be 4 fricking months long?
I feel like if this shit is really bland we won't get some of the other stuff we are speculating norman sins manifesting into a devil on his shoulder. If its the dull route its peter beats up norman on public TV, New york hates Spiderman for beating up a hero/national figure like norman.
>Norman while reabsorbing the sins was injured to the point where he's incapacitated during gang wars.
> Gang wars persists of just peter recruiting a bunch of people and clearing his name as a hero & next arcs are him dealing with Xmen Event (Kamala/Chasm),Jackpot arc, Goblin War thing.
I wouldn't be so sure Peter will get rid of Norman's sins.
They will probably manipulate Peter as a kind of "Mr Hyde" manipulating "Dr Jekyll".
Where does it say that hes dealing with the sins in the solicits in gang war?
>•Spider-Man’s fun-house reflection might just be the thing to help the wall-crawler out of the darkness he can’t seem to shake.
Ah your right its first strike, weirdly something that looks like it has little to do with gang wars with Rek Rap. I read that solicit as peter being depressed again, but maybe wells goes ghost of normans past on him.
He isn't going to surrender the sins, but possibly repress them but losing his sanity as it goes.
Watch peter losing his sanity as the gang war goes because norman's sins will keep telling him that if he was in full control, or maybe someone else who knows NY with the palm of his fat hand, this wouldn't happen.
I may not be surprised if peter takes a dose of the goblin serum made by himself and mutates into a Goblin Spider monster.
Maybe Peter, under the influence of Norman's sins, is trying to destroy the opposition before trying to become New York's one and only ruler, just like Goblin originally wanted to do.
it would set the fricking tone for the next chapters
Peter, under the influence of Norman's sins, will tell something very shocking to Miles.
Gang wars is about to frick with bruce even more
fricking DC is hinting Babs death to frick with him even more
I'd sBlack person if it triggers a bigger divide between them.
it would be perfect to push miles as the "Real Spider Man" to ride on the fricking movies
she hit her head flat in
Peter, no! Don't tell us about the crime statistics!
>"THE SECRET INVASION NEVER ENDED, YOUR PARENTS ARE SKRULLS, YOU NEED TO KILL THEM!"
"I'm gonna say the M word Miles."
Let me get this in before you guys do whatever you guys do in these threads, the solicits suggest Peter is still struggling with this in Gang War
They're running this for a while
He should do something bad enough while under the sins full control that turns him into a pariah again in the eyes of average New Yorkers and most heroes. When he goes back to normal, it should leave a lasting impact on him which gives you the perfect excuse to start writing Peter like the Ditko loner butthole with a chip on his shoulder who's ultimately compelled to do good explicitly because of Ben's death. You could also give him a new temporary power to briefly tap back into the sins in exchange for lowered inhibitions, call it "Sinister Spider-man" or something.
Then reintroduce his supporting cast with some basic interpersonal drama to naturally bring Peter back to his regular 616 tortured bleeding heart personality. You'll end with a perfect launching point for good Spider-man stories and yeah, its basically a cheap retread of 60 years of character development, but modern Marvel pulling even that off would be a miracle.
He's not going to become a pariah though after the storyline; frick they've already announced that Spidey's getting a bunch of heroes together under his command to try and stop the Gang Wars ASAP before a set deadline (presumably when Tombstone gets out of the hospital).
Good
Peter gets the Osborn amnesia™?
More important than all that can we just talk about how Gob Queen is the hottest of b***hes.
Yeah, Kraven should put a proper son of Kraven in her
You mean son of Kraven should put grandson of Kraven in her
This happening was so fricking obvious from the moment wells got Pete to work for Osborn
Aren't all of Kraven's offspring fricking dead?
This issue's art went to waste.
Actually, let me take that back to some degree. The issue wasn't all that bad. But the predictable plotline is up there. I'm expecting Son of Kraven killed off to pave way for the OG Kraven to come back before the film is released.
>I'm expecting Son of Kraven killed off to pave way for the OG Kraven to come back before the film is released.
What's more likely to happen is what's already been happening; most writers don't acknowledge (or perhaps even know) that the current Kraven is a cloned son and not the original, and proceed to write him as if he's the OG.
This current arc and an X-Men book of all things are the only two places I've seen a writer recognize that he's a clone.
And sinister war.
So that'd most of his appearances.
But yes likley will happen.
If Kraven's role in a plot is to just do Kraven Things this his history is completely irrelevant.
Thats why bringing kraven back was fundamentally moronic
>What's more likely to happen is what's already been happening; most writers don't acknowledge (or perhaps even know) that the current Kraven is a cloned son and not the original, and proceed to write him as if he's the OG.
This is exactly what eventually happened to a Red Skull clone that was introduced after the death of the original.
She needs to be goblin my wiener.
when will we get Spider-man but Rhino? Vulture? Morlun?
Or will we eventually get Spider-man but Sinister Six?
whenever Marvel decides to copy DC's Dark Multiverse, maybe "soon" as Marvel is embracing the multiverse shit hard thanks to big successes like the Spider-Verse movies
They circumvented that with Gwen
>You can just sorta take "evil" out of people like it is a ghost or some shit
>People aren't responsible for their own decisions, it is because of their "devils"
Shit be moronic
Actually that’s been canon since the 90s you have supervillains literally created from the sins of a person. Except the process just kills the original person while the sin takes a life of its own,
>The Spider who Gobs
WRONG
He is The Spider Who Snaps
This is the one thing Garfield's movie did better. In this pose, he would've maybe dislocated her hip, but her spine is not in any danger. The way Garfield did it is more realistic.
but she broke her neck. From the whiplash of being suddenly stopped from her fall
That doesn't make a lot of sense. Spidey's web is elastic, she wouldn't be stopped suddenly enough for the inertial to snap her neck, it's not like she was falling at some incredible speed. The way Garfield's movie did it is more realistic, where he catches her by her torso, and then that force suddenly stops her and snaps her in two.
In the movie or comic? Am I mistaken or did she actually hit the ground in the comic and was "bounced up" into the web
In the comic, she was falling off a bridge, and Spider-Man caught her by the leg.
I meant movie, did she hit the ground in the movie?
IIRC, In the movie, the web caught her too late. She already hit her head by the time the web attached to her.
>one time an actual story happens in a marvel book
>Milk it for decades
>Not even dead

Frick off
Let's start with the apparent set-up. Norman's sins are something separate from Norman as a person. They can be removed from him leaving Norman essentially intact but just without those particular malignant character traits.
(This is slightly complicated by the fact that Norman has since done some morally questionable things, like trying to kill Queen Goblin; though I suppose 'questionable' here means literally questionable rather than being a euphemism for outright wrong.)
Theories of punishment 101: All punishment is inflicting hardship on a fellow sentient creature. Generally we frown upon inflicting hardship on our fellow sentient creatures. So the philosophy of punishment asks how does one justify inflicting hardship on another sentient being? What is punishment there for? According again to the simplified version, there are retributive theories of punishment and rehabilitative theories of punishment. (Other theories are available but irrelevant for present purposes. Most notably there are theories that say you punish people to prevent them from committing more crimes or else to deter other people from committing crimes.) A retributive theory says that if one has transgressed the moral law one ought to be punished to balance the moral scales; a rehabilitative theory says that the justification of punishment is to teach the wrongdoer that wrongdoing is bad so that they stop being a wrongdoer. (In general, the political right tends to go for retributive justifications, and the political left tends to go for rehabilitative justifications. That tends to result in different prison regimes: a retributive regime doesn't mind making prisons harsh; a rehabilitative regime tends to find that harsh prisons don't rehabilitate as well and so tends to soften them.)
So on a retributive theory of punishment Norman has done wrong, and therefore he must be punished to make up for it. A rehabilitative theory would say that Norman has already been rehabilitated and therefore there is no point in punishing him. Likewise a pure deterrent theory would say that Norman isn't going to commit any more crimes so there's no point in stopping him from doing so.
(I personally would combine the two theories: punishment is justified only if both the offender has done wrong, and also punishing the offender will rehabiliate them or prevent them from committing crimes again or deter others from committing crimes. You can't punish to rehabilitate someone who hasn't done wrong yet, and you can't punish someone who has done wrong if there is no other benefit to be gained from it.)
Back to Norman's sins. Apparently they can be separated from his personality while leaving his core personality intact. That suggests a metaphysics of the self in which we all have a true self that is good and then evil impulses somehow infect it. It's a bit Manichaean: evil is not a habit or a modification of one's original personality traits, but its own distinct personality trait. I'll note also that it's not compatible with a theory of the self where the will or the core personality is above both good and evil and chooses between them, since then the core personality is evil for choosing evil. If Norman's sins can be removed from him that means that he doesn't choose to be evil; evil is a personality trait prior to his choices.
Lmao when CBR legit invades Cinemaphile its always kind of funny.
> Hi Dabiiiiii.
>though I suppose 'questionable' here means literally questionable rather than being a euphemism for outright wrong.)
A salient point
We already have a thread, we had like 3 some hours ago.
I just hope we get some fun moments before Peter turns back to semi-normal. We've gotten so much slop over the years, we deserve some funny The Spider Who Keks moments
I wonder how Gob Peter is going to work, is he like, possessed? Did his memories get altered? Simple personality change like when he had the symbiote? Honestly, this is a bit confusing. Maybe I'm just a brainlet because even now I'm now wholly sure I understand how Batkek works...
If he gets Norman's memories maybe he will finally remember Mayday.
considering the "next issue" cover preview we saw shows him in the black suit, which he only wears when he's trying to be "scary," and he's back to his normal self in a few issues, i'm going to guess that Peter is just going to be a bit crazier and aggressive than normal.
he'll probably swing by the bridge where gwen died and relive that guilt through normans "sins" "memories" and his own memories at the same time, causing a personality break that'll force Peter to "defeat" the gobbo sins, kinda like what happened in superior with otto and peter
Ah, Black suit for game synergy
Probably have a twisted sense of being a hero while being super agressive in his actions
The previews have called already, he isn't going to lose the sins, but he will lose his sanity during the gang wars, and gang wars is part of the next 20 mags.
Doubtful, this is just a quick cash in into the game to get an angry spider with the black suit, before reverting to status quo.
More like the ramifications of being the hunter spider will carry over into gang wars
Doesnt seem like it, every other hero trusts him. Norman being gobby again is going to be the ramificiation.
I've been looking at this and I'm convinced this was set up to look vaguely like a vegana.
Know a lot of veganas with teeth, do you?
vegana Dentata... What a wonderful phrase!
vegana Dentata... ain't no passin' craze!
It means no wiener for the rest of your days!
It's a penis-free girl cavity! vegana Dentata!
>Peter goes to confession because he's not a brainlet
>Spends the next three issues weeping over it, because he's a pussy.
>Peter will remember that time Norman jerked off over Gwen's grave
And then they had sex.
>PeterMJ hatesex
Hot.
Jesus she's such a stupid c**t
This is what separates good fricking comic books (aka old Spider-Man) from garbage melodrama shit that no one wants to read written by hacks that destroyed the medium (aka nu-Spider-Man).
what a prostitute
Yep
Using anything by a bnd brainlet as proof proves you're a moron.
She fricked him that is canon unlike sins past just deal with it.
Post a pic of them kissing then.
Anyways all spiderman after 2008 is fanfic
The fricked deal with it othewise they would not be in bed with each other deal with it.
IT'S YOU WHO'S OUT GOBBY
AND I'M IN 🙂
Was it ever explained how Miles turns invisible with his clothes on? You could explain his suit away with unstable molecules, but it works with any clothing.
It shouldn’t even be actual invisibility. It should work like the Predator.
?si=0NduXysWSs_7SqUw
magic?
No it's never explained and unlike Sue, Miles can't project invisibility onto other people (yet, just you wait he'll get all of Sue's powers one day too)
He already has legit electric powers. Spider-Powers are already high-tier on their own. Why add electric powers AND legit invisibility on top of it all?
His power creep is never gonna stop, don't forget that he's almost immortal too
Has Peter gotten ANY lasting power-up? Supposedly despite being the baseline Spider-Person he's somehow still the best but I don't see how when Miles can make electric constucts..somehow (Marvel wants him to be Static so bad). Is Peter immortal?
After he came out of the cocoon, he had all of his Raimi powers included, but they were removed by the editorial who hated raimi after SM3
In fact peter was stronger and more resilient than before, and even more smarter than he was.
MC2 peter never fought morlun
Raimi powers are just the standard Spider-Powers but actually spider-like. The dude can actually make webs on his own like an actual spider could.
The powers are the most obvious, but everything about Miles is a full 100% wish fulfilment character that uses Peter as a base.
>Dead Uncle was a criminal facing the consequences of his own life choices, no serious personal trauma or guilt over it
>Very much alive parents making prep-school tier money
>Girlfriend with super powers who can take care of herself
There's no core drama to Miles. He's a personal fantasy of Bendis' and it would be naive to think his race and Gwen aren't part of that.
Miles was written as being pretty shaken up about his uncle's death in the original run, and his mom also died during that as well, which put a strain on his relationship with his dad.
It wasn't until Miles got dumped into the 616 universe that any trace of personal struggles were wiped clean and he hasn't really had much to deal with since then. Not that his original Ultimate Spider-Man run was amazing or spectacular, but it at least tried to give Miles and his family situation a few flaws.
>bendis did it best
Wow
Electrokinesis should never be a part of a Spider-Hero’s repertoire. It has nothing to do with spiders. Any electric anything would have to be tech-based like the Shock Gloves from Arkham Origins.
They should just straight up have villains take turns in Spider-Man's body. Treat him like a goddamn timeshare. I want to see fricking Rhino in Spider-Man's body. Hydro-Man. Some of the literally whos who only had like one appearance in the sixties. Go hog wild.
This is all a set up to make Superior Spider-man happen again
anon superior spider-man already happened. all the new superior spider-man comics we're getting are set in the past during the original superior run
Ben will escape in Dark X-Men 4, mark my words
Read the Solicitation again moron

HOSTILE TAKEOVER!
The fiend taunting the Dark X-Men from afar leaves a trail of bodies in her wake as terror falls over the Limbo Embassy. Will CHASM join the fight against Orchis…or become Madelyne Pryor's ultimate downfall? And can the Devil ever truly be trusted?
I suspect ben will most likely join the X-Men
Frick X-Men. Get that shit out of Spider-Man.
if you think things are bad now just wait untill they turn Spider-Man into a X-book for good. I suspect that will happen soon.
Growing up, having Spidey and X-Men crossover in a blockbuster movie was the dream. But now I don’t want the two IPs to be anywhere near each other for anything. I’ll just take a Spider-Man/Wolverine team-up instead. No mutant bullshit there.
Crazy how things changed. Used to be X-men where my favorites heroes.
Now they aren't even heroes anymore.
Well, hindsight’s a b***h because writers were trying to disconnect Wolverine from the mutants for the longest.
Eh, maybe it's nostalgia, but I like Wolwerine as part of the X-men, he's can fill the "grumpy dickhead who try very hard to be a lone wolf but still like the team deep down" spot like a glove and I have great memories of some interraction with the team, Kurt in particular.
Just need to kill the love triangle with Jean and Cyclops. Nobody really give a shit about it, everyone know Logan will never be with Jean and it's all just cheap drama, let it die and burry it. But then most of X-men nowday IS shitty cheap drama. But I digress.
Logan should frick Ororo
I actually agree, frick T'challa.
Also it would kinda funny having a power manlet with a TALL girl like Ororo.
Oh and while I am it: FRICK Arrako bullshit.
They also clearly want to frick. And as you said manlet and tall woman is hot. They're also both rather nudey
The whole X-Brand has a lot more problems than just the love triangle.
Of course, as I said, they aren't even heroes anymore. Just saying there is nothing wrong with Logan as a mutant per see. But it's a spidey thread, the X-brand might have suffered as much as he did those last years, but their not the topic.
>, but their not the topic.
It is when they're stealing Ben and soon Peter
>The two brand that where Marvel work horses during their rebirth have degenerated into a unrecognizable state and are slowly fusing into a abomination.
Oh, the misery.
Don’t even need Rogue and Nightcrawler to be mutants either. They’re freaks by their powers alone. Nightcrawler would be feared from his looks. Rogue hurts those she touches.
>And can the Devil ever truly be trusted?
>Ben OMD's himself for all of his memories back
wowww
I think they mean Azazel, not Mephisto
i'm sure it's not intentional, but, i really like the spider mandible look they have going on here
Like hell it's not intentional Ben joining the X-Men was the plan all along. Then again I supose it is possible that Mephisto will show up and offer him a deal.
Nothing indicates that Ben will not use the situation to escape Limbo dear anon with chromosomes to spare
Again read the Solicitation nothing suggests there he will use the opportunity to escape from limbo. it is far more likely he will join X-Men.
He'll either team up with them or leave so he can be in an asm arc
The last thing marvel wants is to for Ben to be in the ASM anon it is more likely he will team up with mutants instead.
Wells said he's going to be in the second year.
He lied anon.
I doubt it. We're going to get one more chasm thing in asm. Probably to sell him as a villain or some awful shit
Nothing suggests that this will happen and I don't trust anything Wells says by the way.
More than likely it could be some 2 issue tie in event with xmen thats rumored to be happening next year.
What rumors? That you've just made up?
with a quick google search you too can know about this rumored event that was revealed at san diego!
surely youre not this moronic, are you?
Lol man's got trust issues online.
You have not provided any proof so piss off.
I don't care for made up rumors what I care about is proof either provide some or piss with these alleged rumors.
Online but brevoort was saying there was to be a big xmen Avengers styled event next year. Lost the source on it but it was said a few months ago.
well it's issue 4 out of 5, theres no way they'll introduce him as part of the x-men on issue 5 lol
he's going to walk out of the front of limbo and theyll use him as explanation for how peter becomes de-gobbed
Nothing says he won't
The cover speaks itself however based on this and the Solicitation it is highly unlikely he will try to escape limbo.
>Covers reflect exactly what happens in the comics.
Sure anon
This the X-Men we are talking anon only BIG and IMPORTANT things happens in those books.
Good end: Madelyn explains to Ben that X-men have psychics that can give him back the memories he wants from Peter and it restores him to his proper personality.
Bad end: Ben 'spergs out and betrays everyone for the sake of being evil and edgy.
Likely end: Ben is used as a pawn by the X-men who refuse to help him and will just shove him back in his limbo prison once they are done with him.
Scitzo end: Ben swapped places with Peter some time back and this unlikely chain of events is uncovered. Fricking clones, man, amirite?
>Likely end: Ben is used as a pawn by the X-men who refuse to help him and will just shove him back in his limbo prison once they are done with him.
Yeah I think this what will most likely happen.
Fun Fact: Pete, as played by Tobey Maguire, was meant to cameo in 2008’s Incredible Hulk where Bruce would bump into Peter at ESU.
Fun Fact: Doc Ock’s arms were meant to appear in Iron Man and were to be explained as creations of Stark Tech.
Not only that but ASM's Oscorp tower was going to be in the New York skyline in Avengers 1. Disney and Sony both even sigend off on it but the skyline was too far along for it to be added by that point. And of course we all know what became of Tobey and Andrew in the MCU now
We already have one
That's a kick ass piece of art, but I have absolutely no interest in what happens next (or especially in another event like Gang War). Apathy has set in.
However, I'd like to suggest that for a story arc down the line, one of the major villains from Spidey's rogues gallery decides to start killing anyone that knows Peter's secret identity (perhaps to go after those closest to him). And the baddie should start off with Carlie Cooper since nobody ever liked her. We know that this new girl Michele is going to find out, so he'll kill her too (MJ, Felicia, Flash and maybe Jameson if he doesn't get killed off can remain in the know). But some of the dead wood supporting cast or past love interests who know Peter's secret have got to go. Too many of those folks running about.
I need Mayday to come back so Rek-Rap can be her crazy uncle.
rek-rap needs the perfect breeding partner you're right
Peter you can't say that.
I’d rather Daredevil be her uncle. Keeps things grounded that way.
She already has an uncle. His name was Ben Reilly
Shut up Ben.
He is. She literally wears his costume.
She never even knew him.
I hate mutants so much
What if Jimmy 6 is the one who saves Ben from this nightmare known as Chasm?
That would be kino, Jimmy was a grat character
Remember when in RYV Wolverine had a kid with Jean lol.
So what happens in the Spider-Man story for marvel age 1000?
One More Night.
Anybody believe the theory that she was dead before she was even thrown?
Soon to be dead this time for good
Norman should've stayed dead like Gwen
Forever a stain on his record, the villain who won
So with the retcon of her not getting gobbed, is she his best love interest?
Yes.
>wellshit to probe anything
All you're doing is proving cancerous writers belive that.
Anon she was flirting with flash all the time.
She made out with him too to get a rise out of Peter.
Flash Belongs to Debra, and she will build him new cyborg legs
They only dated in tas.
Yes, but since all of the old cast is being brought back from the limbo, they will bring her back working for the new Beyond and being the host of a female symbiote that fixed her schizo problem.
Nope, he always hated the mere idea of batcat or even diana.
Jon becoming a homosexual after "jor-el" took him was his idea alongside Jim Lee, which also affected tim drake.
>Jon becoming a homosexual after "jor-el" took him was his idea alongside Jim Lee, which also affected tim drake.
Well frick that homosexual then.
they will claim that jor-el raped him and tim drake
No. She was always crying or being embarrassed over how Peter was a gutless coward.
At least it's ending at 60.
?si=CioLfXJJQH5QzMlG
If Spencer is Miller, who's Ocelot?
They'll end up in poor doomed Ned Leeds so he becomes Demogoblin full time since Kingsley is now Hobgoblin.
>now
He's always been.
And shriek is demogoblin now
>And shriek is demogoblin now
She's STILL Demogoblin? I think that must have lasted longer than the original demon Hobgoblin era lasted by now, and they've hardly done anything with it. Just separate them already.
He was a strange mix of good and evil. On the one hand, he did the continuity autism work to make the history of Norman's return and the 70s and 90s Clone Sagas all fit together. On the other hand, that one man's hateboner took Jason Macendale away.
That brought us based Kingsley I'll take it
There was no reason we couldn't have had both, and kept everyone happy.
>>And shriek is demogoblin now
>She's STILL Demogoblin? I think that must have lasted longer than the original demon Hobgoblin era lasted by now, and they've hardly done anything with it. Just separate them already.
I find this utterly annoying. There was suppose to be more fresh out plans for Demagoblin in Scream's solo, but covid shut that down (mixed in with low sales, I'm sure). But the annoying part for me is that they're not doing the duality shit they did with Jason and the demon.
I want the gang war stuff to end with a reveal that Peter's still SpiderKEK and he was manipulating this war for his own benefit
It won't
You don't seem to understand, New York isn't yours to destroy.
I want to raise a topic of discussion: Spider-Man's supporting cast. Dan Slott and the rest of the BND cohort wrote a bunch of characters into the spider-mythos and almost every single one of them has been forgotten immediately because none of them were interesting or compelling. Remember Carlie Cooper? Remember the dude from Horizon lab? Where did they frick off to? Whocaresville, that's where. Meanwhile, JMS focused pretty much only on Peter, MJ, and May, eschewing a greater supporting cast with the exception of Ezekiel and Lamont, who were much more soulful than Slott's tots. Somehow, even with the limited cast, Peter's world felt bigger.
How can Spider-Man move forward with an interesting supporting cast instead of bland cutouts no one gives a shit about?
That's the thing breevorts manifesto is about spider-man NEVER growing as a character.
Let Flash be relevant again. And a bro to Pete.
If i had to guess the office probably thought out of the 15 years of spiderman that they've been doing they would cultivate stuff that could outbreak into the current media landscape.
>LI's to reach the same interest as Mary Jane (Failed)
> noteable villain standouts (Mr. Negative i guess)
>Noteable arcs (at best superior is the only needle mover in terms of quo changes that people will remember).
Peter/MJ Marriage Supporters:
>Jim Shooter, head editor
>Stan Lee. Who did it in the newspaper strip to begin with and officiated an irl wedding.
>John Romita sr. Arguably the most influential spider-man artist of all time, constantly spoke positively of the marriage.
>Defalco. Originally he was against it, but came around to it pretty fast to the point he wrote it even after it got erased.Shit talked quesada for getting rid of it.
>JMD who considered it the soul of the single most critically acclaimed spider-man story and still says they're married today.
>Michelini who wrote the marriage itself and has never expressed dislike of it
>JMS who made the relationship key to the overall run and one of the most important parts of it
>Mark Millar. Whose only time writing a mainline spider-man story had the marriage with MJ at a central position.
>Bendis. Who publicly defended the marriage as a natural point for the character in wizard
>Todd macfarlne. Just as an excuse to draw a hot redhead but still.
>Sauvik. Draws the marriage stuff even on his own time
>Ron Frenz. Probably tied to spider-girl more than anything, but always supported it
>Ollife. Expressed similar thoughts as frenz
>Peter David. Has only spoken positvley about it and has peter refer to MJ as the most important person to him.
>Sacasa. Was so against erasing the marriage he literally had god tell peter not to do it
>Fraction. Was so against it he wrote a one shot to celebrate peter and mj and one of two eisner winning spider-man stories
>George Perez. Publicly supported it
Neutral/its complicated
>Mackie. He didn't mind the marriage but thought that peter was still written too young for it and not allowed to progress
>Roger stern. He didn't mind peter being married, but thought mj was not the ONE. Which is ironic since he brought her back after 6 years.
>JRJR its kind of hard to really know. He's worked on both anti and pro marriage runs. He seems to like drawing her, but that's kinda the end of it. He's said himself he likes gwen more but being dead so, yeah complicated for sure.
>Conway. Likes MJ a lot, and was the guy who pushed her as main LI, and wrote the marriage stuff. But also doesn't have an issue with the marriage being written out. But by his own words he checked out of spider-man mentally in the 90s.
>Zradsky. His works always have peter and mj in a relationship or ending in one, but he's also said he models MJ after his ex-wife...so mixed. Although his one 616 MJ moment in his spec run had peter motivated by her to do the impossible.
>Larsen. Loves drawing MJ but thinks that peter is a teenager's fantasy and that marriage has no place there.
>Jenkins. Prefers gwen but has said he sees MJ as the second-best fit.
>Glen. As long as he could write some goblins he gave no shit.
>Grant Morrison. Was willing to do a story during it, but clearly has said only ditko spider-man matters.
Opposed
>Jim oswley. Thought the marriage made spidey too old and ruined his friendship with shooter over it.
>Bob Harras. Thought the marriage made spidey too old.
>John bryne. Thought the marriage made spidey too old
>Slott. Thought the marriage made spidey too old. Thinks its too much of a finale for spider-man and that it should NEVER have happened.
>Quesada. Thought the marriage made spidey too old an unrelatable
>Breevort. Thought the marriage made spidey too old and kneecaped the "inherent" conflict of the character
>Busiek. Thought the marriage made spidey too old.
>Dan Didio. Hated all comic book marriages (even reed/sue).
>Waid, Tought the marriage made spidey too old and unrelatable
>Wells. Thinks the marriage is too much of an ending for spider-man. Makes him too old
>Van lente. Thought the marriage made spider-man too old.
>Guggeingheim. Thought the marriage made spider-man too old
>Brubaker. Felt the marriage didn't let him tell as story he wanted with spider-man (never wrote it).
>Wolfman: Hates MJ.
Modern supporters
>Pat Gleason. To the point he still calls her mary jane watson parker in interviews and drew her with a wedding ring with peter in beyond's covers.
>Carlos Gomez. Publicly shit talked the current run for splitting them up and said he'd always view them as a couple.
>Kaare Andrews. Publicly said they would always get back together and wrote a story where mj's death is the single most traumatic thing for peter.
>Danny Khazheem. Who called married spider-man "his" spider-man in the letter's page for Lost Hunt.
>George R martin (okay not a comic writer but still). Publicly shit talked marvel for getting rid of the marriage.
>Kevin Feigue. Dude flat out said so in the 900 interviews
>Glen. As long as he could write some goblins he gave no shit.
incredibly based tbh
I always thought Didio slid to more neutral over the years. For Bat/Cat, he said he felt like a finale to a story.
I always wondered why Marvel didn't just kill off MJ to force Pete to move on. The character assassination in the early days of OMD brought her low, only to see her raise back up as a supporting character. Then after a mini-series or two, she was becoming more prominent. Then Wells steps in, and we now have this convoluted plot to age her up, have her with magical kids, and partnered up with some random self-insert. Then with Felicity becoming something more, I thought it was a good compromise. But no. For whatever reason, we're back to bachelor Pete that hasn't produced any noteworthy stories. Anna was like the only romantic interest that ironically had some personality and she wasn't even really dating Pete for frick's sake.
I just don't understand why they haven't killed her off. That have had plenty of opportunities. You can't keep shitting on her, then suddenly come to this weird conclusion that she should be a super hero.
Such weird mix messaging.
They tried...mackie/bryne.
And pre wells she and Peter had been in a committed and cute relationship again for 4 years
>age her up
She's only 3 years older than Peter. She was one year younger prior. It's fairly minor?
I guess the art in ASM 25 made her look older. Was there a legitimate reason why there were 2 different interior artists? Because I thought it was speculated that 25/26 were rewritten to make the kids not MJ and Paul's biological children.
Its just the shit jrjr art.
They won't kill her because she is popular, and killing her off could lead to their target audience (X user that don't buy comics) being pissed they fridged her.
But she will never be in a long stable relation with Peter either.
They just had a 4 year one. By comic standards that stable. It's just bnd gays that seethe at the tought. Most others default to them. And there's no bnd writers left.
I think there's a few like kelly & guggenheim, but them coming back fully is less likely. Slott wont come back for sure.
Kelley doesn't do ongoing anymore and guggenheim isn't doing comics anymore it seems.
Maybe Spencer will come back one day though.
why? why would you even want him back?
He fixed lots of things to Spider-Man that's why. it's thanks to him Sins Past is no longer canon.
Yeah that was "him" being serious he fixed mj and Felicia. That alone makes him based.
okay. And those things are broken again meaning if he came back, those things could be broken again. And so on.
so again, why do you want him back?
(I thought you said he wanted to retcon OMD and had to do Sins Past. So are you thanking him for doing a terrible job?)
Nta but I'll take a writer that wants to fix shit instead of the bnd gays that just break everything with no exception
That's like saying "it's thanks to Quesada OMD happened". He didn't fix things, he broke things.
Oh probably.
I'd take him over any bnd brainlet
>verification not required
Amazing Spider-Man and Captain America are two titles Spencer will never get to write again.
As
mentioned, they did try that already. But turns out grieving widow Spider-Man just wasn't the swinging single manchild they really wanted. Go figure.
mind your autism
Should the list be updated?
Who else
Reminder: Ditko was right along. Spidey should exist in his own universe. No F4, no X-Men and no Avengers. Daredevil and Punisher are fine though.
No, frick you, I like Thing and Peter just being bro.
The TASM movies had the idea of cross-species hybrids, of which the tie-in game for the first movie ran with in in full. To bring Wolverine in a Spidey-centric universe, then making Wolverine a cross-species hybrid would be a good way to do it. Just as Spidey is the perfect fusion between man and spider, Logan would be the perfect fusion between man and wolverine.
OsCorp would create Wolverine to be the ultimate weapon to kill Spider-Man. As both Spidey and Wolverine are cross-species hybrids, Wolverine would be just as strong and fast as the former. More so actually, due to the advantages of his adamantium impants. With this, you’ll get Spider-Man vs Wolverine.
Somewhere along the way, Logan breaks out of OsCorp’s control and fricks off to Japan or whatever. He’ll return later to help Spidey out here and there.
For the eventual Spider-Girl series, X-23 would be Mayday’s contemporary and the two would team-up as a mirror of their fathers.
Apparently the stegman story is good
fellas, maybe it's time to stop having so many clones
Hmmmm wonder what would be the next "shitty status quo" for spiderman comics?
>Ric grayson peter story
> Parker industries return?
omg bro youre so right youre so correct ric grayson is gonna be canon can you PWEASE PWEASE write a ten paragraph post about how peter is going to lose his memories this week???
Now i want this to happen so can watch your live ACK live.
Norman, are you in or are you out?
It’s you who’s out, Peter. Out of your mind.
(I am in Gwen)
KeK.
Weirdo!!
Hot
Ikr?
Hey that's all
What happens in the stegman story in marvel age and or who's in it?
where comm?
Killed.
Shame he died in Miami like that
How would an animated spider-man movie be like if Monkey Morales never existed and it was mainly just about Peter?
if they went with the idea of not explaining his backstory because he's Spider-Man, everyone knows, it would've been neat to have a first movie dealing with someone like Chameleon. Tie in some of that paranoia and false identities, while giving Chameleon some time to shine.
It would have destroyed the animated box office.
REMINDER
Would probably be cool as hell if they adapted a great comic story and skipped his origin
Did he tame over in a ton?
He only did that in usm and itsv (and both still had him learn from a petet).
Usm show made him a sidekick. Msm made him Peter's age and his sidekick. Ps4 made him his student and Peter's around. The baby show has them at the same age.
The point about supporting characters is by far what gets me the most. An original Spider-Man like him would naturally want his own cast of characters, it's just common sense. That's what Spider-Man 2099 did, and even Spider-Girl had original villains and supporting characters despite literally being Peter's daughter.
Miles, meanwhile, has no fricking supporting cast beyond his family that simply gives his existence some context, and his fricking girlfriend is just Gwen fricking Stacy, which feels downright insulting to Peter, Gwen, and Miles.
The LEAST I can give miles is Ganke, and even then he's whatever
based
Not only is this a stupid comparison of clearly differing circumstances and intentions, it's not even right most of the time. There's been several different series where Miles is being taught by a living Peter, like when he was called Kid Arachnid or, idk, the very new PS4 Spider-Man games.
Spider-Man having a sidekick completely misses the point of the character. He isn’t Batman. He doesn’t need a Robin. He himself is all the hero that is needed. Successors like Mayday and Miguel work just fine as they have their own unique space and world to themselves without compromising on Prime Spidey’s turf.
Who asked you that? I don't disagree, but again having a sidekick isn't even what's going on here or in that post. Hell, that'd be implying Terry was a sidekick instead of a successor, which he certainly wasn't.
I think Miles works best as his own character as detached from Peter as reasonably possible since that's the point of *his* character. He is linked to the Spider-Man name through circumstance, but he needs to make a name for himself regardless. Terry on the other hand is someone who is linked to Bruce down to his DNA, built from the groundup to be an "evolution" of Bruce. Terry's relationship with Bruce is much more complicated because Bruce is training his *replacement* who is also secretly his son/clone, but he wants him to explicitly be nothing like himself.
Whole different directions and motivations, so don't compare them. It's goofy as frick.
>Miles works best as his own character as detached from Peter
How would you know? Nobody ever tried to do that in the entirety of miles’ existence.
Let's be honest, he worked best when he didn't exist. Let's not waste time trying to make the unworkable work.
>Nobody ever tried to do that in the entirety of miles’ existence.
Tell me you have never read a single Miles Morales centric comic without saying it. I bet you've only heard of him from Spiderverse and the first PS4 game
>I bet you've only heard of him from Spiderverse and the first PS4 game
>*ssssnnnifffff
That's some mighty fine projection.
He's literally a solo hero in his origin story, and after grappling with picking up the mantle he becomes his own guy handling the city his own way. Are you moronic? Like did you just look at the pictures and not the words?
The only moron here is you. Your pathetic schizo babble has nothing to do with my post.
>handling the city his own way
>own way
Miles has no personality in the comics and just steals peters villains and side characters gay.
>becomes his own guy handling the city his own way
Spider-Man fights crime in New York and makes jokes. Who does this sentence describe?
>He's literally a solo hero in his origin story, and after grappling with picking up the mantle he becomes his own guy handling the city his own way.
Nothing like this ever happens. You're just lying at this point.
oh boy i wonder what original supervillians Miles is fighting next issue
OH LOOK ITS ANOTHER VILLIAN OF PETER WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED
It's never a problem for Ben or Otto. Even Miguel. But even when it makes too much sense it's a problem for Miles. Curious.
Ironically Ben actually did get a bunch of new villains when he took over in the 90s. It was one of the complaints of that period because a lot of classics didn't get a lot of material because of it.
>even when it makes too much sense it's a problem for Miles
How does Miles fighting Kingsly make "too much sense"?
Legacy characters, swordplay, the hypest shit on the planet.
I’d prefer if it was Peter doing the cool things.
But Kingsley isn't a legacy character, he's the original Hobgoblin
He's the legacy goblin
No Harry is. Hobgoblin is a separate entity. Kind of like how Scarlet Spider isn't Spider-Man
Scarlet Spider is the first legacy spider too. I'm not saying Miles matches with him though. Miles is not the first legacy spider
Ben became a legacy when he became Spider-Man. Scarlet Spider was a separate mantle that became a legacy when Kaine took it up.
Scarlet Spider is an offshoot, not a legacy, just like Hobgoblin. Miguel is the first legacy Spider-Man
Green Goblin and Hobgoblin are separate mantles with their own legacies.
That's just semantics. Ftr I also consider War Machine a legacy
Again, War Machine is separate mantle. Rhodey became a legacy when he became Iron Man to fill in for Tony.
Dick Grayson isn’t a Batman legacy because he’s Robin and Nightwing, but because he became Batman after Bruce “died”. Same with Batgirl. She has her own legacies in Cass and Steph. Robin too.
>none of which are even in this page
what the frick are you talking about anon?
Don’t you remember anon
>I’m Spider-Man and no one can take that from me
>after grappling with picking up the mantle he becomes his own guy handling the city his own way
Well actually, after that, he literally moves to 616 and now lives a city block away from 616's Peter. You probably only heard about him from the Spider-Verse cartoon, so you have no idea how much of a diet Spider-Man he actually is in the comics.
> There's been several different series where Miles is being taught by a living Peter, like when he was called Kid Arachnid or, idk, the very new PS4 Spider-Man games.
In spider-verse he was taught by a Peter from a different dimension who’s life was a mess(since miles Peter fricking dies in his 20’s) and ultimate miles isn’t mentored by him. PS4 is ok but just the idea of two Spider-men fighting together feels really wrong, as
said Peter shouldn’t have a sidekick.
What marvel fears
Kino
boring
Source of that second one?
The mr and mrs spider-man book.
>2 frenz art
>1 deodato
That's going to make me crazy now.
SOVL
>NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO MUH YOUTHFUL SPIDAMAN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE
lol, they honestly think Peter won't be relatable because of this?
He won’t be relatable to the loser nerds and social outcasts.
Once he reached adulthood each arc become more and more ridiculous than the last and nothing past the original ending is worth it. Z obviously feels very different from DB.
The reason why DC gave up and let Superman become Superdad is because being young and unmarried isn't as intrinsic to his character as it is Spider-Man. When Spider-Man's popularity is in its twilight years maybe they'll do middle-aged Spider-Man as a last gasp of relevancy but Marvel's idea is to keep that from happening as long as possible.
Spider-Man was never about youth. It was about growing up.
Spider-Man spent the first 25 years of his creation as an unmarried single young person.
Didn't his ass graduate and grow up wtf is the point here?
He never grew up too much.
Not enough to keep him married. If OMD was so unthinkable, they would have backpedaled on it immediately, instead it's 15 years strong.
The marriage lasted 20 years strong.
Only because they were overthinking how to get rid of it. See
as soon as Salicrup was gone they had a guy in there who wanted to get rid of it, hence the clone saga, the plane crash, the separation.
>hence the clone saga
Hated by the fans and undone
>the plane crash
Hated by the fans and undone
>the separation.
Hated by the fans and undone
GEE I WONDER WHAT THE PATTERN IS
Also sales tripled under JMS and one of the first things he did was put the two back together.
JMS was only allowed to write her back in if he wrote the story that would permanently end the marriage. That was an incredibly selfish deal he made.
>JMS was only allowed to write her back in if he wrote the story that would permanently end the marriage
Not true, this is revisionism. JMS was on the book for 7 years. OMD was not in the works that long. You're just making shit up to suit your narrative, just like the chucklefricks at Marvel editorial.
It's a cbrgay I'm 90% sure now.
>Not true, this is revisionism. JMS was on the book for 7 years. OMD was not in the works that long.
Quesada predates JMS and he was extremely anti-marriage and giving interviews at the time about how he would *never* let MJ back in the book again. He came to a deal with JMS mid-way through his run. They obviously didn't have the details hammed out that early, but JMS was under an obligation to end the marriage before he left the title.
>He came to a deal with JMS mid-way through his run. They obviously didn't have the details hammed out that early, but JMS was under an obligation to end the marriage before he left the title.
This is a far cry from
>JMS was only allowed to write her back in if he wrote the story that would permanently end the marriage
Regardless, sales TRIPLED under JMS and the reunion of Peter and MJ was a huge part of that. You can't deny it no matter how much bullshit you make up.
Spencer didn't exactly move the needle in a significant way. Causation/correlation problems.
It did? Spencer outsold slott pretty heavily, and what we know number wise his asm sold better than wells...it actually still sells in trade form, which wells underperforms in.
Spencer wasn't allowed to remarry them. The taint from OMD lingers because it hasn't been undone. Regardless, you can't say that the marriage was an aberration when the most successful run of the modern era built itself in large part on the marriage.
>Not enough to keep him married. If OMD was so unthinkable, they would have backpedaled on it immediately, instead it's 15 years strong.
Only because Marvel editorial literally thrives off of the anger of its fans
In that time he graduated high school and college, watched a bully-turned-friend go off to war, got his first real girlfriend, watched her die, grieved her death and moved on, not to mention grew his professional career as a photographer. You act like he was a static character who didn't experience emotional milestones. Hell, calling him single is an outright lie, Peter spent a ton of time in relationships before marrying Mary Jane. And guess what? People loved the marriage. They loved Peter growing up.
Betty was his first girlfriend. Pete was going to propose to her and everything, but he let his temper get the better of him and dumped her over a misunderstanding.
>28 issues issues in high school
>out of 60 years
Its almost as if the people that did OMD are the same people that are in power and did everything in their power to entrench it despite what a moronic idea it is. See the list
If there was a boycott of Spider-Man comics it would have been undone immediately. Instead a lot of people bought the new status quo thrice a month.
Also Spider-Man hasn't had a single pro-marriage editor since Salicrup who was the guy who approved that annual in the first place. Fingeroth, Macchio, Alonso, Wacker, and Lowe were all firmly against it. It was an aberration that it ever happened. Priest rejected it and he was fired and replaced with Salicrup.
>It was an aberration that it ever happened.
It went on for 20 fricking years and ended because of one of if not the most hated story in the book's entire history. At the time of OMD the marriage had been an integral part of Spider-Man for almost 45% of his entire existence. Frick off with your revisionist garbage.
They overthought it. They should have used a milder version of Byrne's idea to just have Spider-Man bemoan his circumstances and some disembodied voice hits the reset button. Though he was dumb enough to want to reset his life back to high school. Just magically wiping out the marriage would have been enough.
.
>They should have used a milder version of Byrne's idea to just have Spider-Man bemoan his circumstances and some disembodied voice hits the reset button
That's basically what they did with Mephisto and people hated that shit.
It's far more benign if it's not an actual deal with the devil. Now there's a taint that can never go away.
It's dogshit either way and completely disrespects the audience's intelligence.
They shouldnt have gotten rid of it. Defalco hit the nail in the head. All the cosmic retcon ideas are moronic because they have no concept afterwards.
I think it's just a syndrome of writers getting lazy.
Its almost like its a bad idea overall that shows a fundamental bad grasp on the character.
This is really what's behind the "he needs to be relatable" bullshit. JMS, Jenkins, PAD and others made Peter plenty relatable while having him be married. Tons of the BND stories could have happened with Peter being married. The problem is that they were out of ideas and wanted to take Peter back to the time they were nostalgic for, i.e. the 70s when they were children. They couldn't figure out how to actually convey that Peter is a normal person with normal problems without regressing him back to the 70s, the time they were nostalgic for. The inmates are running the asylum and we all suffer for it.
Slott is that you?
There was an absolutle downturn in sales from JMS (the peak of the book in the 2000s) to BND.
Not everyone, this narrative that "everyone wanted to get rid of the marriage" is flat out false. We know WHO didn't.
I was specifically talking about editors, not writers. Writers have no power. It's a factual statement that no Spider-Man editor since Salicrup has been pro-marriage.
It's a factual statement that every Spider-Man editor since Salicrup has been hated by the fans too.
Defalco was editor for a while, he didn't hate it. And again, every writer/editor who was specifically against the marriage (barring Busiek) only has produced dogshit in relation to spider-man.
It lasted 20 years still...saying OMD lasting 15 is impressive when the marriage lasted 20 with editors against it isnt.
Lmao its such a shit concept here tbh spiderman cant grow but the universe around him can because its not as popular. This case basis works way less considering how other characters have aged beyond him & marvel gonna be justifying why peter looks 25 when normie is 16 in the next 10 years.
>If they want to just fricking continue an actually youthful spiderman in ultimates and just let us have a Spiderman that isn't perpetually a broke single loser.
>When Spider-Man's popularity is in its twilight years
when's that going to happen?
Never.
Goku is never around his family, the most is Gohan and even Piccolo spent more time with him than Goku
I'm sure the amount of times ChiChi and Goku interact in DBZ is probably less than 10
You’re thinking of TFS. Goku’s spent time with his family. He was dead for the time he wasn’t.
It makes him old and a different, less appealing character.
No. It shows growth and maturity.
Has aunt may ever been allowed to be a grandma?
She’s old as frick in 616. Her younger versions have a better chance.
Too cute
That was said already
No it wasn't

Wow.
Let's be honest Gwen really was the one meant for Peter after all.
You're pathetic anon.
It's over but you keep whining like a literal child everyday.
Breevort's still whining about the opposite too and its been 35 years.
You're whining like an annoying b***h right now. I'd rather you do something useful and off yourself right now.
Keep posting the good fight
Actual kino. Wish we would have a book covering that.
Why give Pete a goatee?
Ask frenz idk, i guess to show he's older?
>There's a may in each one
I'm not crying
Same here.

Why can't we have this
Marvel dumb
Imagine a Spidey who acted like Travis Touchdown:
?si=15l5OIeplHeFIIRT
Peter calling Otto “Doctor OctoPUSSY” would be pretty funny.
excited for beyond?
Of course.
cute mayday with uncle miles
No. Now frick off back to your Gwen Check thread, you pathetic cucks.
im actually kind of excited for spider-kek ngl bros i love shitty alt versions of characters we already know (like batkek) when they dont get blown out of proportion (like batkek)
Why is angry Peter referred to as Ditko Peter? Pic related is from Romita.
casuals see marvel house style and refer it to ditko cuz they know ditko spidey had a distinct look to it
If anything we are living in a world where comics are propped by a speculator bubble and mcu that seems to be losing its luster. The industry is heading towards another downturn in which they'll pull rabbits out of their ass to keep sales numbers.
The people who watch the MCU don’t read comics.
Imagine reading Spider-Man after One More day.
Oh momma I don't know what they're feeding em in Canada but God bless, keep on doing it
I have yet to be convinced that the marriage is necessary. PeterMJ don't need to be married. They don't need kids either. Committed is fine.
I don't remember asking
Too late. You're subjected to my unsolicited opinion anyway. Marriage remains unnecessary to me but I detest how Marvel won't let them be committed.
Idunno JMD seemed to think it was when writing last hunt.
Would have worked married or not.
JMD considers them being married the soul of the story and that it wouldn't work otherwise.
Only if you're incredibly old-fashioned and think people can't be in love if they don't have a shiny rock.
Seems to be the case with the folk at marvel.
Im okay with this as a progression to a marriage over a period of time though, problem is you have all these writers who want to leave their mark with shit LI's that have faded into obscurity.
> Felicia maybe had the best chance at a decent status quo for this run & they didnt do shit with her.
You gotta wonder at the thought process that goes behind creating random LI #97. You'd think people would know there's little to know chance making royalties off Lis when villains or heroes are always more likely to appear in an adaptation. I'd just want the two staying together. A gold band with a bun in the oven isn't necessary to make that happen.
The only character to come out of the 2000's have been a small handful like miles and Mr negative in the mainstream media. Other than that, I'm pretty sure carlie cooper won't ever see the big screen at this point.
at best superior has the best chance of some form of adaptation.
Its already been adapted.
Within what the cartoon?
2017 show yes
Definitely, they should stay together for the foreseeable future.
The marriage is good for two main reasons:
>Narratively it is the "next step" from simply being in a relationship, and signifies growth in Peter which is the crux of the whole argument
>It acts as a deterrent to stop future writers from just breaking them up for cheap drama and/or because it's not their OTP
>It acts as a deterrent
Yeah and looked how that turned out
Turned out pretty well considering they wanted to undo it for years. They had to resort to a deal with Mephisto to undo it
And since then no other relationship has managed to dethrone it. MJ's been peter's love interest for 30 years now
Mephisto was only thrown in because the editor was a Catholic nancy boy and divorce isn't supposed to be allowed in his religion.
No it was thrown in because Spider-Man getting divorced makes him look even older which defeats their whole goal
Now spiderman just looks like some lates 30s dead beat
Divorces happen all the time. Couples going through their first divorce are around the age of 30. Married couples between the ages of 20 to 25 are 60% likely to get a divorce. If Spider-Man got divorced he would be in line with the statistics for his age bracket.
That says more about how fricked marriages are on modern day then anything else.
Eh. Giving people a choice to leave to find happiness instead of seeking out a mistress while shackled to someone you stay with out of social expectation has it's perks. So does not forcing one half of a population to be entirely economically dependent on the other half.
True but tie that into kid ones is just where I think it gets more fricked up.
Yep but the BND crew couldnt even have that.
This isn't about statistics it's about feelings. Having Spider-Man be a divorcee would've made him "feel" old. Just like how being married makes him "feel" old
A divorce would make him feel less old than a divorce. He'd be just another young man rushed into romance before he was ready.
>than a marriage.
Kek. Neck me.
I'm just explaining their reasoning, which was still moronic. Peter does actually have a child it's just that child is dead, which makes him seem old as shit
Our young child soldier is wise beyond his years.
>sheds a fond tear.
Editorial chooses the oddest things to obsess over.
The real question to this is would people let it go after 15 years of this, I gotta say they didnt account for the elephant memory of the fandom or the rise of shit sites like twitter/reddit fueling a mass view.
They didnt let go of single peter after 20 years, why would they assume the opposite? Especially when peter/mj have always been popular.
I mean MJ will always be THE Spider-Man love interest and nothing they do can change that. And every person that knows about the various ways they've been split up over the years, especially OMD, knows it's fricking stupid
So does spiderman turn evil cause MJ and Black Cat dumped him?
Stegman story is really good and probably the best Spider-Man story of 2023.
Not shocking.
Better than JMD?
obviousy norman gets back his sins.
>Silk
>Spider-Gwen
why'd they ruin the image like that
Who’s the top one suppose to be?
Mangaverse Spidey.
I DEMAND SAKURA SPIDER TO REPLACING PETER INSTEAD
Is she gonna be the poorest one?
>Bad Norman identity at the wheel, has full control over Peter's consciousness. Preys on Peter's recent emotional distress.
>Spider-Gob appears, wrecks havoc on his "rivals", both criminal and personal.
>Good Norman along with the Avengers or Fantastic 4 bring MJ, Paul, and May into protective custody, briefing them on Peter's current predicament along with how dangerous of a threat an insane Spider-Man could pose.
>Black Cat hears from talk and immediately tries to find him to bring him back to normal.
>MJ wants to help her despite Paul's protests.
>Some battles happen.
>Spider-Gob Arc reaches its climax at the same place Gwen Stacy dies. His friends makes one last attempt to have an intervention with an unhinged peter.
>Somehow Norman switches sins with Pete, setting up Green Goblin's return for later.
>But not before one significantly personal death for Peter to try to repent for (place your bets. I got Black Cat.).
>Enter Trial Arc. Tombstone's lawyer wants to represent Peter (irony). Is confident she can get Peter off due to circumstance out of his control.
>Peter pleads guilty anyway cause muh responsibility.
>MJ breaks up with Paul so she can visit Pete while he's incarcerated.
>"Sniff, sob.. I'll wait this time, Tiger."
Dunno he's off by gang war
it is quite obvious that Peter will try to suppress the goblin in him, but gang wars and Norman's memories will make him lose his sanity and become more violent and even more Stormin Norman.
and since they said this will shape the next 20 chapters
Expect Peter becoming the head honcho of all crime families or having him help Fisk to become Kingpin again while he embraces the Goblin Persona with Norman and Otto now having to team up to stop him.
Anon 9 to 10 this story will end with norman becoming goblin again.
After all of this happens, which may involve mephisto.
By the end of this arc likely. Wells is far too safe.
What he's literally fighting crime with heros?
Remember Diablo 2?
I think Spider-Goblin is going to bury Kraven alive.
Peter didn't promise shit after Uncle Ben died. He just fell into the hero role over time. He was going to use Spider-Man to make some money to help support Aunt May, but couldn't because Jonah was smearing his name.
Obviously, she's just sugar coating the story for Annie. It looks good on Pete to go straight into the heroics because Ben died rather than what actually happened. Especially since it's his daughter who's hearing this.
To be fair, this is the modern perception of Peters character, as that's more or less how it happens in all adaptations ever.
Yeah as much as I love early Ditko Spidey begrudgingly becoming a hero, it's just not how the character's sold anymore. And in fairness, all that stuff is Pete's internal conflict anyway, it's not really relevant to those who interacted with Spider-man, the guy who keeps putting away these weird animal-themed villains.
It makes him a far more interesting character. A Spidey who's forced into being a hero out of guilt and not because it's the right thing to do. Truthfully, he doesn't want to be a hero. But with time, he'll realize what it means to be a true hero. He wouldn't be Spider-Man because he has to be, but because he chooses to be. It would be then, where he'll truly mature and become the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. That's why him starting out short-tempered and arrogant works far better than having him be a bullied nerd. It'll lead to some great character development as we'd watch him go from this unapologetic butthole to a genuine hero.
That or because he gets a high out of being Spider-Man. It'd be his way of dealing with the grief of losing Uncle Ben. Half of it is genuine guilt, the other isn't.

>we could of had a cool solo Spider-Man animated movie in the SV style if morales never existed
It hurts
I really just want to know what they see in miles other than identity politics

If there is ANY doubt that DC and Marvel editorial are working together to ruin Bruce and Peter's lives
It is official, they hate Batman and Spider-Man having a family as they hate their 90's TAS
I sure do care.
We got Goobo Peter and Bruce going Crazy Batkek with a robo hand in the same week, it isn't coincidence
Okay?
totally not a coincidence.
was there any jackal shit at DC yet?
Don't think so.
Where did "goober" come from? Pretty sure Spidey never used that term before the movie.
It seemed like a placeholder name they'd have in the first draft with the intention of changing it something snappier, but they never did. Either that or they're just doing some Rick and Morty shit where they call things whatever.
Spider-man is going to look like this at the end of Gang Wars by this point.
Gwen will deal with MJ for her cheating on Peter.
Ghost Gwen or Ben save Peter from daming himself he comes to his sense after one of them gives a speech reverting Peter back to his normal self they will also probably mind wipe people into forgettin he was Spider-Goblin
hamster time!
