I knew you were one of the sins past gays. You pretended someone edited your commission within minutes of you posting it, but I could tell that was BS. Now you're hiding behind 'It's the ultimate version no one has seen yet besides in interview format, I swear!'. I'd respect the stance more if you weren't trying to hide it because you know it's unpopular.

What? And yeah someone DID edit a commission of mine lol. I can say that because if it was mine id have done an original gwen design than put in ssm gwen. And I do think its different lol.

My take on sins past is that its bad because of the timeline stuff but that people take it to an extreme that's way more than it should. Its not the "worst" spider-man story or anything, nor does it ruin gwen. Its just a lil stupid thing.

RIP Liz Allan. If only you generated half the interest this girl gets for getting thrown off a bridge.

          >nor does it ruin gwen
Can you explain this opinion to me?

If it was retconned that Norman had done something with a legal but teen MJ, you cannot convince me this would be your reaction. And that's without the cheating.

            Anonymous

MJ's the endgame love interest. You shouldn't be getting angry about the non-endgame love interests having consensual sex with other guys before or after their time with Peter, and shouldn't be expecting them to have no existence at all outside of being alternate love interests for Peter. And since Norman is based, being Norman's love interest and mother of his children is based by association. Since it happened during a time Peter and Gwen weren't together it's not even cheating.

I just think they're neat, and so are their kids.

Marvel made it abundantly clear in interviews and databooks that what went down i. Sins Past was cheating. If cheating is bad for one girl. It's not suddenly good for another girl. The US is largely a culturally monogamous country. Most people who aren't terminally online would consider cheating wrong.

Marvel barely knows its own canon, tbh. They can't even keep track of how old Peter is rn or how old Gwen was when she died. They needed a fan to explain when the now-retconned affair took place and then they proceeded to let the Kindred storyline introduce several elements that shit on the timeline even further.

Betty became damaged goods when Peter fricked her while she was on the outs with Ned due to IIRC Marv Wolfman wanting to break them up and have Peter and Betty date for real.

The backlash to Peter fricking a married woman who hadn't even told Ned about her seeing Peter romantically while they were split, was so great that editorial forced Wolfman to reunite Betty/Ned and even to this day, refuses to ever mention that sordid arc even when Ned's character was thrown under the bus like it was pre-Hobgoblin Lives.

The botched reveal was that DeFalco was always setting up Ned as a red herring. His Hobgoblin was Richard Fisk, and Kingsley was the Rose (because Stern had told him that Kingsley was Hobgoblin but DeFalco didn't like that, so Stern said if he had someone better in mind he could go ahead and pick someone else). PAD read through all the issues and thought "Well it can only be Ned" because he fell for the sleight of hand completely. Stern didn't like that choice so he eventually got to do things his way.

                >"But...but," I stammered, "if you're killing off Ned...then who is the Hobgoblin?"

                >Owsley grinned. "The Foreigner."

                >"The Foreigner?!" I said. "The Foreigner wouldn't be the Hobgoblin!"

                >"Sure! It'll be great!"

                >"No, it won't be great," I said. "First off, the Foreigner's whole shtick is that he's low profile. He doesn't run around in gaudy, conspicuous costumes. He blends in. Taking on a costumed villain identity is totally against his character. And second, we've been telling people that Hobgoblin is an already-established character in the Spider-Man cast. The Foreigner was created after Hobgoblin showed up. It's a cheat. We'd be cheating the readers. You've got to change this idea of Ned being killed."

                >"It's too late. The book's already written and drawn."

                >I moaned.

                >"Okay," said Owsley gamely. "If you don't want it to be the Foreigner, then let's figure out who it can be."

                >We started going over recent developments in Amazing, and slowly we came to a hideous realization.

                >He had to be Ned Leeds. Tom had been extremely thorough, perhaps too much so. When one took all the clues into account, there was really no one besides Ned Leeds that it could be. No wonder practically all the readers were figuring it out. No other suspects really fit.

                >"The Hobgoblin has to be Ned Leeds," I said.

                >"Yeah, but Ned's going to be dead a couple of months before #289 comes out. He can't be the Hobgoblin."

                >I thought about that. And thought about that.

                >And I had one of those frightening skewed moments of mine. A moment when I look at a story point where something outrageous would be required to resolve it, and I think to myself, Well we couldn't possibly conclude it that way. And then that magic two word phrase occurs to me, the phrase being...

I get that it was too late to undo Ned Leeds' death, but did it never occur to them that they could simply reveal that Ned Leeds faked his death? They could still have the story where he "dies", thus making readers who'd figured out he was the Hobgoblin no longer think it's him, only for a dramatic reveal where he's actually still alive thus preserving the twist.

You're right about Ned being a red herring and the DeFalco/Stern stuff. But the actual reason it wound up being Ned was because during a creative meeting DeFalco was asked about it. He and Owsley (who was ASM's editor at the time) had been feuding and DeFalco thought that Owsley would try and mess everything up if he told the truth so he lied and said Ned was the Hobgoblin. Then a short time later DeFalco was removed from ASM for supposedly being late with scripts and Owsley then did the whole story where Ned was found dead and left it to PAD to figure out how to do the reveal that he was the Hobgoblin and show how he died and PAD came up with the whole thing about how Macendale hired the Foreigner to kill Ned so he could take the Hobgoblin name for himself in ASM #289.

Stern, for his part, had a problem with it only because he thought Ned went out like a b***h and that the Hobgoblin shouldn't be killed by mooks but he otherwise liked the the story.

It's more like DeFalco put time into setting up his red herring but hadn't set up any other credible suspects yet, he may have wanted it to be Richard Fisk but there was nothing pointing to it being him yet.

I wouldn't even mind if it wasn't for MJ. That's what most people want but it's basically one guy (Marvel editorial) against the world there. Slott era was just constant rotating annual love interests and it looks like we're back to that again and nobody can even think of an interesting girlfriend to give Peter. Why should I care about the nurse or Beetle's friend or any of the Slott era shitters like Mockingbird or the Chinese scientist? I think that's a big reason nobody can move on from MJ as Peter is given these nothing, fly by night relationships that go nowhere because, I assume, they're afraid that giving him a serious and well written/developed relationship will lead to another MJ situation with the new girl.

MJ's not even that great. It's just fan attachment. Really, it's mostly her design that people like. Not much of her personality given that her intended personality as developed by Lee and Romita was overwritten by Conway and others to make her a proper Mrs. Spider-Man.

Except for all the development as a good romantic foil to peter that grows alongside him? That's what people like, not really her design. She has thematic ties with an opposing backstory and develops alongside him and both.

I can't think of a time when I would ever describe Kingsley as being "friendly", nor did he ever really crack jokes. His whole schtick was that he wasn't crazy (or at least not Norman crazy).
It also felt super out of place when he was saying how he respected Miles, that man has a huge ego and would never say that

Yeah hobgoblin acted so strange in it ngl.

And yeah that does reccount it succinctly. No new love interest can ever really compete cause they cant last, and they have 30 years to go against 30 years of fairly popular love interest centric stories.

                >She has thematic ties
No she doesn't. A lot of those "thematic ties" were retcons done to make them a match for each other. Said retcons involved rewriting their characters to have their relationship make sense.

It's not so much a lie as her tip toeing around the realization, as a young woman, that some of the things you'll want in life will require actually putting in some effort. Mary Jane thinks of herself as someone who just wants to party, but is finding herself getting close to and interested in someone she's genuinely going to have to be serious with and deal with real problems when she's with.

It's why there's that iconic page of Peter lashing out at her and her closing the door and staying to comfort him instead of just walking away.

Well no, the whole masks thing was literal in Peter’s case. Spider-Man is the mask, and MJ knew that. She wanted to get to know Peter so she could figure out why he does the things he does.
And the retcon with MJ was an attempt to salvage her character after Wolfman completely fricked her over with crap like

Wolfman wrote her true to Lee-Romita's intentions. Conway made her a different character.

Conway gave her character development, that's not "making her a different character". That's just using an event in the story to make her grow up. Wolfman hated mj (by his own admission) so he went out of his way to write her out. Stern (who didn't even like mj as an li) brought her back for drama and plotted that backstory to justify the prior leave.

Ironically no, htey were a retcon made by someone that actively didn't want to keep them together that just wanted to use her as a spoiler. it just so happened that it was such a dramatically interesting one that it led to them growing closer together.

It didn't really "rewrite" their relationship, just the why mj left when the writer that didn't like her wrote her ina way that contradicted her character growth.

Like how fans like to claim both Peter and MJ were hiding their true selves, with Spidey being his actual self. Thing is, that's bullshit. Peter doesn't do that Clark Kent shit. And she grew during conway's run, but then woflman went back on it so other writers came up with it to justify it. You cant ignore 30 years because a character was introduced one way and then grew and we learned from it lmao.

Yeah I don't know what's so hard about Peter having someone in his life that is on his level who will banter with him. Now it's just

Slott's Peter was characterized as being really incompetent and irresponsible and really just blew her off despite everything once he got his life back. Not only did he act like he didn't care he'd been dead for a year, but he gave her very little gratitude for constantly covering for his ass. Another reason for me to hate that era.

You do realize that "MJ" can apply to "Mary Jane" in the comics, right? The fact that you didn't think it meant "Mary Jane" in a thread about the comics is proof that Disney and their consequences have been a disaster for the human race. Tom Holland is you and a lot of people's only "Real" spiderman. Let me try to make it simpler
            >Peter is single in the movies and will probably get a new love interest.

Its not really a thing that's very sustainable. I do doubt it was mcu synergy tho wells is somewhat involved with it so it could have been an attempt at wanting his stuff adapted.

Doubtful, last asm arc leant hard on "tension" with peter, and the next run will likely have them as a couple again. Plus felicia just got ANOTHER new love interest.

        >And yeah I think the thing that makes mj compelling are her flaws and how they relate to peter's own character flaws.
        Explain.

        >Peter's selfless but very prone to blaming himself even for things he cannot control, can tend to mope and lets either life interfere with the other
        >MJ runs away from serious responsibilities with her party girl stuff (be that a facade or not)
        >Togheter peter helps mj actually handle serious situations than avoid them, mj helps peter to not blame himself for every single thing

        Based Claremont with the ship.

        >Ben is a mentally ill schizo because he's been fricked with
        >Janine knows this, and knows that Peter wants to help Ben
        >She finds Ben and indulges his schizo delusions instead of actually helping to cure them
        >Ben gets worse
        >Now Janine decides he's too far gone and ditches him (ride or die lol) even though she's the one that's enabled him up to this point
Surely this isn't the route they're gonna go, and surely they don't actually expect the reader to side with Janine if that is what happens

Honestly I kinda doubt the last part. Because the confirmed thing is that peter leaves the date to save betty, which doesn't work with the chasm attacking it part.

        >nor does it ruin gwen
Can you explain this opinion to me?

If it was retconned that Norman had done something with a legal but teen MJ, you cannot convince me this would be your reaction. And that's without the cheating.

18/19 is teenaged? I always viewed that as the start of young adulthood (I say as a 21 year old). And eh, I said my issue is more so that the timeframe stretches stuff beyond belief but gwen has one mj doesn't. There's also the fact that mj has been far more introspection than gwen who largely became a post mortum (and sanctified character), something comparable would be if during the stern era they had revealed that mj had always been a mom I guess, which now id dislike but as a thing id probably not care as much at that point. Also explcity it wasn't cheating. Gwen "was with" norman during the time she had gone on two dates with peter and after peter had assaulted her elderly father.

          Anonymous

Gwen died before she hit nine-teen. So Eigh-teen. Most people would consider that "teenaged". That's right there in the name???

We are talking about MJ being a mom. Specifically of Norman's children. I am curious why you've zeroed in on stern's era but this has nothing to do with sanctified images. Bringing that up is somewhat telling. If Gwen having sex with Norman affects her " sanctified" image, logically the reader doesn't think it was perfectly acceptable for her to have sex with Norman on a social level.

You're presenting a fan's theory of events. JMS stated when Sins Past was written that it was a matter affecting fidelity and a girlfriend sleeping with an older man. Databooks have stated it's infidelity. Touting fan theory like it has any basis in fact when it was written is pointless.

          [...]
Marvel barely knows its own canon, tbh. They can't even keep track of how old Peter is rn or how old Gwen was when she died. They needed a fan to explain when the now-retconned affair took place and then they proceeded to let the Kindred storyline introduce several elements that shit on the timeline even further.

Marvel doesn't care about timelines when they want to be "shocking". Both stories are stupid and the editors need to do their damn jobs instead of actively making shit worse.

Gwen's post-death "sanctified" image was revisionist garbage that led to a lot of awful, awful stories, so killing it is a good thing. Trying to reinstate it led to one of the worst Spider-Man stories of all time.

And let's not pretend that any "databooks" written in the late 25 years even matter or have any binding power over later writers. It's not like Marvel actually employ a continuity expert to check everything like they did back in the 80s and 90s, so you end up just getting some rando's hot take on things, with the actual comic writers being free to ignore it.

Lmao. Can you tell me how Sins Past fixed the sanctification? Marvel ignored Sins Past and continued with the revisionism.

Spencer was addressing OMD, not sins past. Norman sold Harry because Peter sold something. Marvel loves their brainless parallels, and OMD is cancer.

Nothing needs to be pretended on my part. This was official material. Databooks trump fan theory in the canon arena. It's pure cope to present the views of a select few fans as canon.

Peter had a chip on his shoulder. He doesn't have a hold on his emotions, and would get angry easy. He'd pick fights with anybody whether because they were talking shit or he perceived them as talking shit. He'd even make excuses for his behavior in his head, rather than look into himself and realize he's the one at fault. Dude used to only care about himself and his family, but grew to truly care about others over time. Unlike the movies, he didn't go straight into the heroics after Uncle Ben died.

Goblin/Kafka approaches Ben and Janine with an offer to restore Ben's memories via the Winkler machine, which she has modified to erase and replace someone's memories and personality, which is what happened to poor Ned

    >>Ben is for it, but Janine doesn't trust her.

gets confronted by Mary Jane, who came by to visit Peter but he's off on a date. MJ confronts Norman about Ned rotting in jail and how the lawyer Norman got him, while stalling his trial, hasn't gotten him out on bail or done anything to bring down Kingsley.

agrees to help, leading to him burning down Kingsley's fashion design house as Gold Goblin and him cackling like mad to foreshadow his return as Green Goblin.

    >>Ben and Janine attack Peter and his date and Chasm nearly kills the poor girl, which pisses off Janine.

    >>MJ returns home to Paul and finds out that Ned has escaped prison with help from several super-villains (implied to be the Sinister Six)

is brought before Queen Goblin, only for Kraven and Doctor Octopus to show up and demand that once Peter's mind is merged with Ben's to give him his memories back, Otto wants his brain put into Peters mindless body again

That comic is probably one of my favorite Spider-Man vs Green Goblin stories ever, the ending just hits hard

            Anonymous

Same, but I think a lot of people misunderstand the ending. Peter basically calls a troll on his bluff. It reminds me a little of that one comic where Peter does react in anger; he beats up Norman, and we're all 100% on his side for it. Yet the green goblin got the last laugh because the entire thing was recorded. Sometimes not fighting is the better move.

Peter knows Norman isn't going to intentionally kill Normie. After he's calmed down from the rage, he realizes the entire thing is a suicidal farce and takes back control from someone who had too much control over him.

It's also interesting that the story relies somewhat on the villains distorted humanity. The idea that there are lines that even guys like Norman can't cross. It helps humanize a horrible excuse for a human being without sympathizing with them or offering excuses for their behavior. Modern writing should take notes.

              Anonymous

Yes, it's one of those rare cases where giving a villian boundaries that they won't cross work without coming off as an attempt to justify or excuse their actions.
They both just sit down and chat after beating each other up. Norman tells a joke, Peter says he has this recurring dream and Norman just calmly asks
              >What kind of dream, Peter?
And I don't know, it just works. Perfectly encapsulates what this whole thing was about and the fact that they do understand each other. Not in an ideological, philosophical "ying and yang" etc way but just as people, which makes them hate each other even more.
Of course Peter hits Norman with "Just being you - that's life without parole" and that line is so good at exactly describing what and who Norman is and why he was trying to make Peter kill him.

      Assuming this is true...
After Dark Web, I started to worry that Marvel were planning to have Janine turn on Ben and become a solo anti-hero while he remained a villain. It looks like that might finally be happening, just when I thought they were going to prove me wrong.
Is Ned going to become the new Green Goblin? Maybe it's just me, but I get the feeling that Norman cackling is a red herring.
As much as I'm enjoying the Octopus-Girl manga, I am so fricking tired of this Superior Spider-Shit. It almost makes me wish Otto would be killed off for good just to be sure that we never get any more body-swapping stories with him. God, is this the feeling that led to Marvel killing off Ben at the end of the Clone Saga to prove that Peter was the real deal?

It's Norman not Ned. The story explicitly states that Norman destroys Kingsley's new fashion studio, after MJ browbeats him into doing something more to help Ned beyond stalling the trial until Peter finds proof Ned was brainwashed, as Queen Goblin relocated the mind control machine then wiped Kingsley's memory of the whole affair to frick over Ned.

I just don't understand. They're acting like Peter/Ben don't have close ties with the X-Men and can't just get a friendly telepath to xerox or restore Peter's memories to Ben. What is this forced drama just for Chasm to exist? It's pointless.]
Why isn't Peter doing more to help Ben? Hell, you have fricking Julia, or whatshername, the shittier madame webb. She is a literal telepath, tell her to get off her useless fricking ass and do something for the supposed 'Center of the Web' and his literal dark side clone for fricking once.

I hate how Ziglar writes characters. He can't do dialogue to save his life, and neither Scorpion nor Hobgoblin would ever be chummy with Miles. I don't care how you try and justify it that just wouldn't happen

              Anonymous

I'll give you Scorpion, even if they're sadly the best appearances he's had in a decade. It's an exaggeration to say Kingsley was "chummy" with Miles. Kingsley loves cracking jokes and snark during battles and often gives off a veneer of friendliness while also being utterly ruthless.

                Anonymous

I can't think of a time when I would ever describe Kingsley as being "friendly", nor did he ever really crack jokes. His whole schtick was that he wasn't crazy (or at least not Norman crazy).
It also felt super out of place when he was saying how he respected Miles, that man has a huge ego and would never say that

We are talking about the same guy readers from the 80s complained that Stern made too stereotypically gay so he put Kingsley with a girl to shut them up, right?

            Anonymous

I liked his appearances. His amicable dialogue was just casual danger dialogue and that's fine for Kingsley. What bothered me was making Hobgoblin refer to his mind as broken. That was terribly terribly ooc. He's very insistent that he fixed the formula despite having no background in chemistry and is proud of being "the sane one". Any comments contesting this will be met with vitriolic reprisal.

Norman is similar in that respect at times but he's more aware that he has a few mental health issues and is willing to admit them if he thinks they'll benifit him. Also because his keep talking to him. Gobby is the one who knows and is aware he and Norman are batshit insane.

In addition to this, he fixed the formula so it wouldn't explode in his face, he didn't remove it's potential for making people crazy. He believed a time-limited exposure to it would give him powers without madness, the same issue made a point of showing that he immersed himself in it for longer than he calculated was safe.

And I don't think there's discrepancies in DeFalco's and PAD's versions of events. DeFalco intends Ned as a red herring but tells Owsley he's Hobgoblin because he thinks Owsley will try and screw him over if he knew that it was Richard Fisk. But he didn't count on Owsley finding an excuse to fire him. With DeFalco gone, Owsley then decides to muck up (possibly intentionally) DeFalco's story by killing Ned so he can reveal someone else as the Hobgoblin and PAD, who was his go to guy, objects at his choice feeling like the fans wouldn't buy it and they decide to do the post-mortem reveal that Ned was the Hobgoblin.

Absolutely, and conway gave her a nice arc where she matured while still being fun. Wein kept that course, wolfman backtracked and stern thought of a way to meld both into one cohesive take.

I was running through Dr. Kafka's history, and the character assassination is almost hilariously; she was introduced curing Vermin and restoring his humanity. But the writers forgot this happened, and Vermin went back to being a monster for no explained reason, and its never been commented on. And he got cloned too. Also she fricked Kraven, the guy who torments Vermin. You could probably make a tragic story about all this, if you were a good writer.

Anyway I like how she was introduced fairly frumpy and then became younger and sexier over time

Man this design would be so much better if they gave it to Emily. Have her orchestrate an ambush and steal the costume. Make the orange neon green instead, or a dark purple or some other halloween color that is different from Hobgoblin. Also man, yet another goblin character connected to demons. That's three now. Lame. Should've made her get these masks from Norman's collection that he got from all over the world (like he collected magic masks from places and then they were made into these party masks by the goblin) or Mysterio creating them. Ugh magic is being used too often in Spider-Man. Morlun and totems at least built themselves up into Peter's world while still providing mystery until Slott pissed all the mystique away.
        >inb4 anti-totem gays shit on me

They wouldn't have made good decisions unless things were getting really bad. We had 16 years of misplaced pride and Quesada's gaggle of morons telling us that One More Day was the best thing to happen to Spider-Man, before declining sales and actual alarm bells being raised by previously 'safe' sites like CBR and Screen Rant made them realized that they were now in danger and literally can't afford to keep having their way at the fans' expense.

I think there is an understanding of a lost generation of reader gap that the industry is slowly feeling. Barely a fraction of the audience will be available as they consume other media like anime or gaming. Speculator whales retire or leave the market over time causing massive revenue gaps, as the mcu loses steam over the next 5 - 10 years. Marvels rage bait technique can only go so far now that readers are entirely sick of it, so now we get appeasement like usm.

Things I've learned trying to complete as much of Ultimate Spider-Man videogame as I can.
    >Johnny Storm is a Black person homosexual. High difficulty races is one thing, actively setting traps to keep you from catching up to him is a whole different level of being a c**t. At least allow me to do the same to him so it's fair.
    >I hate that Japanese gang with all my heart. I have much less trouble with any of the game's bosses than these "block your attacks 90% of the time even if you web them up" homosexuals. I finished their combat tours but they're just making things more tedious than it needs to be.
    >falling from balconies or other such surfaces is the leading cause of death in New York if this game is to be believed
    >why so few costumes? You have six. One of which is your default costume, one similar to default but without the webbing patterns and two are different variations of Peter Parker
I may sound overly negative, but I actually love this game. I just wanted to vent some frustrations with it.

did anyone else read the new Edge Of Spider-Verse because I did and it's making me mad. i mean at least Cooper has some depth beyond being just a gay stereotype but 99% of his character is still "I'm GAY" and I hate it

here's this gay man pining over being in love with his straight friend.
god forbid a gay man actually gets to have a fricking relationship, am I right.

      >FALLOUT FROM ISSUE #300!
      >The climactic events of issue #300 have FOREVER CHANGED Miles Morales! But a SPIDER-MAN’s job is never done. And in fact, learning to live with the consequences of his actions might be the greatest job of Miles’ life. Who will survive? What has the battle cost him? And what does the future look like for Miles Morales: Spider-Man?!

Alright what happened last issue and why are they making his powers just electricity?

        Anonymous

It's funny because big issue 300 wasn't even the climax for the story being told, it ended in the middle of a fight scene.
The "climactic event" was that Miles's clone (the joke one that can only say "glurp") might be dying. They literally wheeled him out of limbo for this arc to kill him off for some fake drama

Newsarama: Justina, Morbius has a strange sort of cultural presence at the moment. What's it like putting him back in the spotlight alongside Spider-Man at the same time he's become something of a meme outside of comics?

Justina Ireland: Incredibly fun. I mean, it's comics, it's always supposed to be fun.

I know some folks don't like to lean into memes, but I think being able to laugh at the silliness of the internet (and also give a wink to it) is always the way to go. I also think sometimes when people start to crap on the things we love our first instinct is to defend it, and that's fair. But why are you giving those people power over you?

At my age I don't want to waste what time I have left, so who cares if a few randos hate something you love? Keep it moving, and spend time on the things that spark joy.

Newsrama: On that note, as a living vampire, how does Morbius fit in with what's going on in Blood Hunt?

Justina: I mean, he’s kind of the OG vampire. At least for me. I knew Morbius’ backstory before I ever read a single page of Dracula. Morbius is tragic and the epitome of the morally gray hero. Sometimes he’s on the side of good, sometimes not, but most importantly he’s always on his side. And I like that about him.

Plus, what girl doesn’t want to end up with a doctor, even if he’s perhaps tragically cursed with an unpredictable bloodlust and questionable decision making skills? All I’m saying is you can’t have a massive vampire driven event and leave Dr. Mike on the sidelines.

Newsrama: Morbius and Spider-Man have been both enemies and reluctant allies in the past. What's their dynamic like this time?

Justina: No spoilers, but as usual their Facebook status is "it's complicated."

  77. 4 weeks ago
    that's all

Newsrama: You're working with Marcelo Ferreira, who's drawn his share of Spider-Man in the past. How has it been working with an artist of his caliber and experience with the subject matter?

Justina: I mean, I basically just stay out of the way, which is honestly my default position. It's important to know your lane, and I'm a writer, not an artist. Marcelo knows his craft. I just admire the pretty.

Newsrama: With three issues to tell this story, were there any big Spider-Man moments or concepts you really wanted to include while you have the opportunity?

Justina: I've mostly been focused on finding a way to organically include "it's Morbin' time" into the issues, so not really. Real talk though: just getting to spend time crafting a comic is enough. I definitely thought I'd be into a third dysfunctional marriage by now, not writing Marvel comics. So every day is a gift.

Newsrama: Blood Hunt is a big event, with a bunch of tie-ins. How do you make your mark in an overall event with this many issues and stories?

Justina: Who knows? I always get a little overwhelmed at crossover events, and that includes writing as well as reading. But if you're like me, you just read the issues that feature your favorite characters. Which is why I made sure to figure out a way to include the Daughters of the Dragon, and Lizard, along with Spider-Man and Morbius. Honestly, if I could've found a way to work Storm in there somehow it might have been everything 12 year old me wanted to read. Next time, I suppose.

Newsrama: What do you want readers to know about Amazing Spider-Man: Blood Hunt?

Justina: It's gonna be a blast. And it's cheaper than a latte! So why not give it a spin?

This reminds me of the spider-verse Peter who became the Goblin (with Hobgoblin's color scheme for some reason) after Gwen died. I'd like to see him again and wonder if he turned to the Goblin serum for additional power and coping, and if it would frick his mind like it did Norman and Harry's. Or maybe Peter would work out the kinks in it along the way?

      Man, that'd be interesting.
