Still the best capeshit film ever made. nothing has topped it before or since. It's influence is felt through not only later works like the MCU or DCEU now, but also Animation as a whole. The literal definition of a modern classic.
I am not joking.
it's actually great multiverse shit, probably the best mutliverse movie so far.
it's a perfect heroes journey that focuses on miles' origin without diminishing the impact of peter parker as the original and best spider-man
>it's actually great multiverse shit
Fricking how? Most of the characters do literally glorified cameos to sell funko pops, and even Kingpin's part is basically Mr. Freeze lazily retooled for multiverse synergy. >probably the best mutliverse movie so far.
That's like being the tallest midget but seems to me like Everything Everywhere All at once did a lot more with the concept than importing bootleg versions of the MC into one single universe.
Most of those movies did, except they also had profitable theater revenue and could actually profit from their merch compared to Sony who sold merch rights back to Disney
What. Shallow IP key jingling has existed way before that even in the director's movie before that lmao. Fricking Endgame had Multiverse/timetravel meme crossovers and that was only 4 months after Memeverse
Nicholas cage as Noir strangely works. Only sad thing is that Noir became a joke character.
Spider-Ham fricking nailed it.
Miles for the first time is actually a character.
Peni is basically anime memes instead of anime references.
I like old Peter, but understand if you don't.
Gweb is a tough cookie, she steals a little too much screen time which pokes holes in the plot. Why did she go to Miles School, by the way Miles won a lottery to get into. Why did she become an intern after landing in another universe. Why wasn't she experience symptoms like Old peter. But I guess I like the tweaks they made compared to her comic book counterpart.
The issues with Gwen probably stem from rewrites, as she was not planned to have such a prominent role until an exec insisted on it. Then again the other spider-people from other universes are mostly window dressing.
"Precognition sense" doesn't explain why she failed to go help the actual Spider-Man at the time, got directed to a guy who's yet to become a spider-person, and how she got into the school at all and went there for a week or something, all without disintegrating, and then never had precognitive sense again.
>She just broke in and put on a lab coat anon
She's a tiny 14 year old girl and Alchemax security is ridiculous
>Peni is basically anime memes instead of anime references.
worse, she is what a 40 year old boomer thinks anime memes are without actually ever having seen any.
The worst part is that Peni could easily carry a film or even a series of films if you really chase the weeb dollar. But Marvel would never let someone who actually gets anime to run the show.
>Miles for the first time is actually a character.
This is what fixed it for me. Miles was such a shit-heel character prior to this. They actually gave him a reason to be his own spiderman instead of some weird insistence that miles is THE spiderman over Peter Parker. Same thing happened with FemThor.
When female Thor and Black Spider-Man were made, they were made knowing there was going to be a backlash. They fill the book with scenes or characters saying "Wow, you truly are the (Spider-Man, Thor)" in fact more than the original.
But they forget to tell an actually interesting story.
Nicholas cage as Noir strangely works. Only sad thing is that Noir became a joke character.
Spider-Ham fricking nailed it.

Gwen does nothing but stand around being GENERIC COOL GIRL
Awful >Peter Parker
Turned into a israelite because of bendis the israelite when Spider-Man has always been Catholic on account of aunt may who is Catholic. >Gwen
Awful lesbo side haircut, awful piercing, disgusting love interest in miles. Why is it always white woman with a black? >miles
only created because bendis has a black fetish and can't help himself subverting and perverting things that are good.
Still pretty great. The story's not really anything to write home about (i mean, besides still being better than any other Miles story) but the animation and aesthetics on this movie are still peak. You'd have to be the kind of moron who posts low effort bait for (You)s to not see that
It makes me wish all cape movies were animated. God imagine a world where everything was a spectacle on the screen instead of the unimaginative tripe we get.
Something with MIguel trying to restore the multiverse since miles/gwen probably put a lot of things out of place. I just hope the extra spider-characters aren't comedy fodder like last time.
After getting delivered via truck into gwen stacy's dimension Dock Ock finds herself at the mercy at multiversal atom decay. Wanting to avoid this she teams up with that universe's version of dock ock to superior spider-man herself into gwen stacy.
Superior spider-gwen then rebuilds the collider tech and forms a cabal of a multi-dimensional sinister six with the goal of merging realities and creating Loomworld from the comics. Choosing to do so in her original reality, distracting miles with "hang outs" whilst her minions build the machines required to merge realities.
Multiversal sinister six includes a scary take on spot and the prowler who peter will try to reconnect with.
The machines accidentally destroy dimensions and tear apart worlds in the process. Enter Spider-man 2099 desperate to get the bottom of this and save reality. Believing miles to be responsible due to his presence at the epicentre of all this and how portals seem to surround him.
Miles must now get to the bottom of the multiversal destruction, Being lead astray by gwen along the way. Miles teams up with the spider people from the original. Peter B Parker accidentally takes his child daughter along with him. Penny has now gone full angsty neon genesis evangelion. Porker and Noir are mostly the same.
To counter mile's team and the multiversal sinister six Miguel forms his own team featuring a heavy metal hobie brown, exclusively japanese speaking Supaida-man, an australian ashley barton to rip on mad max, Sapient spider mobile played by david hasselhoff and spider-monkey.
The two teams fighting against each other serves as a distraction for the sinister six.
The end of the film comes with the reveal of gwen secretly being dock ock and loom world succesfully being created leaing into part two.
Being animated helped with a lot with helping it feel like a true comic movie. I don't mean to shit on live action stuff, but you are limited by what humans can actually do and special effect budgets. Animations can really go ham with whatever you can imagine.
It was so cancerous that Lee and Ditko killed themselves to avoid seeing it. >Steve Ditko died June 29, 2018 >Stan Lee died November 12, 2018 >ItSV released December 1, 2018
>It was so cancerous that Lee and Ditko killed themselves to avoid seeing it.
That's what Raimi wants you do believe. I still remember him screaming: >"Spider-Man is not a Black person, homosexuals!"
Imagine a stylized Marvel game that really embraces the comic aesthetic with the onomatopoeia, thought bubbles, etc. Deadpool and Shattered Dimension was somewhat close to this. Midnight Suns looked soulless.
The Spiderverse part of it remains my only issue with it. It's a great story about mentor(s) with striking visuals, I just don't think the multiverse aspect and the characters that came from it added anything of value narratively (except for Peter B. but they could have just had him be Miles' universe Spidey given how little screen time Peter A. gets).
It was alright. Did the important things really well. I'd give it a 7/10 or so, but people nowadays are so used to braindead trash, they call it a masterpiece
A 10/10? I dunno. It's not like I thought much about ranking them, or rewatched a lot of them recently. My gut answer is The Iron Giant, but that could be nostalgia talking. Klaus would be a 10/10 for me personally if not for that dumbshit third act moment
>animation looks like a botched render of Paperman >eyebleeding low FPS >cancerous rap music even over scenes that should be poignant >every single character is a joke and misses the entire point >plot holes everywhere >full of terrible cliches and tropes >garbage ironic meta humor
I'm convinced this movie's reception is the biggest psyop since people tried to convince everyone Gal Gadot was attractive, all because the main character was black, I cannot think a single good thing about it.
>animating on 2s is "eye bleeding"
This type of shit and the rest of your hyperbole is why people don't take you seriously. Well that and thinking people disagreeing with you is a government conspiracy.
There's nothing preventing you from holding on keyframes on any kind of framerate, you have no idea what you're talking about, and all the non-action scenes i.e. the vast majority just look ugly and choppy since the keyframes in them are nothing special
Out of curiosity (I'm not big into popular music and its' ceremonies), is it like the emmies/golden globes? The musical equivalent of Hollywood giving itself awards for being so great and important. These big decisions being taken by people who oftentime haven't even seen the movie?
Basically, are music awards self-congratulatory masturbation?
Yes, the music machine is a big circlejerk, there is no organic breakout success anymore, the popular music is what the the industry decides will be popular
single character is a joke and misses the entire point >>plot holes everywhere >>full of terrible cliches and tropes
ironic meta humor

Time fricking flies the older you get
>After 4 years ago
dumbass
4 years later i still want to smash Peter B Parker
Hi OP here. I think i make a mistake. Is was actually 5 years ago, instead of 4. I was using this pic related so that i could know when this movie was released at. That was on me, my bad.
Don't like the celebration of the commercial aspect of Spider-Man. Also immensily bored with the Multiverse concept especially when other Spider-Men are just boring archetypes. King Pin was shit. Peter falls way too much onto that loser image Twittertards and most of Cinemaphile who haven't actually read Spider-Man but shill the Raimi movies love. The third act battle is color puke and I would have prefered if we didn't get to "Oh but if they lose the whole multiverse is going to explode" schtick. Spider-Man works better when the battle is more personal and low stake compared to other heroes where every day there is another world ender on the horizon. It's just a bog standard kids film with the artstyle wanting to immitate comics. Didn't care for Penny. Didn't care for Gwen. Didn't care for Noir. Didn't care for Miles. Didn't care for Miles' super underdeveloped uncle. Peter was the highlight but that's not saying much considering how much worse everything else was in terms of writing. What the frick is up with people wanting Spider-Man to be like Batman including having a bat cave, a buttler and a bat family.
overrated, most spider-people are jus 2-dimensional character, take out the flashy animation and it's alright, lietrally replace spider-man symbol with superman, flash or any big ip and it would make no difference, this is why it doesnt feel uniquely spider-man to me also worst version of peter parker.
but i agree with this
this movie jus feels like away to commercialise the brand, the lack of thought and depth to each spider-persona, the main theme that anyone can be spider-man which flanderises even more that spider-man is self insert and it intoducing the boring trope that "anybody can be this x hero", like in thor 4 where anyone can be thor, it jus feels a shill way for corporate to make this white character ip inclusive to minorities without corprate bothering to put effort on their own uniuqe ip and it shows. Miles supporting cast is weak and is highly dependent on other spider-people compare to peter who has a strong supporting cast that isnt tied to being alternate version of his ip, so how will new writers try to differentiate miles with peter when miles movies are dependent on alternate spider-man, while peter isnt? even miles love intrest being gwen was a big mistake, if you're gonna chose spider-people anya wouldve been better, atleast it would differentiate miles from peter
I like how Bum Peter was consistently competent as Spider-Man but let the Peter Parker side of his life get out of control. It helps to sell the idea that he not only has to maintain the responsibilities of Spider-Man, but also the responsibilities of Peter Parker. Because if he goes to far with either side it’ll end up making him miserable
1.Noir Spider-man isn't like that at all and this movie just flanderized him
2.Peni was an unnecessary character and didn't need to be included at all
3.The idea of spider-gwen just all around sucks, Peter should never have to see gwen in any way shape or form considering it was a major point in his character
4.Concept art style was cooler
5.Spider-man in a team scenario is lame
6.Multiverse shit is so over used and sucks
7.Miles isn't interesting and I will never care about him, Spider-man is a story about Peter Parker and everything we see of him is his character growing and adapting to his unique circumstance which just cannot be replicated and seeing anyone else in the suit feels like a bunch of people trying to sell me something.
>Noir talking about how his friend Joe was lobotomized by nazi Doc Ock or how Black Cat was a prostitute
Bruh, I've read Noirs comics its understandable why they changed that.
most versions of high school peter parker wouldn't really give a frick about their social lives if they weren't bullied, but Miles cares a lot more about the expectations of his peers. I also think him being creative instead of a nerd is unique while still allowing him to be a loser
There's barely anything in the movie that has to do with his peers, it's no different than how he was in the comics, the sequels seem to be ignoring that point completely, and that's something you can easily do with Peter if you wanted to (because it presented a storytelling opportunity, which it doesn't)
Honestly the first half is great but the second half isn't as interesting. Miles' character feels like he lost a lot of agency and got rewritten to fit Peter B's presence and arc rather than have Peter B service Miles' arc. Gwen doesn't really have any true narrative closure other than a fight scene, and the third act is a little rushed. Kingpin isn't all that engaging of a villain and Lady Ock kinda just got written out.
6.5/10, not bad. I'd recommend the workprint Alternate Universe Cut.
It really does not hold up on rewatch. Unless you "Turn off your brain", you're gonna notice on the second go round that Gwen's entire subplot is a giant plothole due to her being there first day of class, contradicting Mile's entire problem of the school being hard to get in, and just not making any sense later. Worse, on second rewatch, it really hits home that Miles just didn't win his final fight with Kingpin. Straight up, did not win. The only reason he came out on top? Kingpin froze, let him set up his attack, and then let him go through with it. It's kind of insulting on second go round, like they had the whole script written and just forgot to write in how Miles overcomes him, so he doesn't. Kingpin freezes like a video game boss glitching out and that's the only reason he doesn't die. It's nonsensical, it's not a fun twist, and it just kind of sours the whole accomplishment. If the main villain literally has to stand there and stare for your hero to win, you kind of failed to develop your hero. Speaking of lack of development, wow does it hit that the spiders are just random in the story. They don't develop even a little, they don't even really have a defined character, they just drop in and quip and then act like its a sad scene when they leave.
There's a bunch of things wrong with it besides that, like how nonsensical the dinner party is and how it contradicts Kingpins entire character up to that point and the bizarre choice to act like the mech dying is a sad scene, but those things just kind of wreck the story on rewatch because in addition to them not making any sense, you're losing out on potentially good things just to get them. Overall, I see why most people skipped this one and it made less than half of the Garfield movies, it's really only for people who wouldn't think about it after they watched it.
as far as the animation goes, it's cutting edge and memorable. several aspects annoyed me though >annoying pig that didn't need to be in the film >zomg epic multiverse, everything needz this nao >anime character is more of an americanized clip art parody of anime rather than an actual anime character
seriously peni doesn't even look anime how the frick did her shit design make it to the final filmk2kxjs
It's pretty good up until the final showdown, which is just visual noise where space doesn't matter.
Overall I've come to like the way it pivots into massive world ending danger less and less as time has gone on. The films best moments all involve the mundane and grounded meeting up with the absurd and fantastic.
The animation is fine. It's not something you see often these days and helps the movie stand out.
The artstyle works. It's suitably cartoony without going over-the-top and it's reliance on a more comic bookesque aesthetic really helps it stand out.
The story definately has its holes (Gwen being present for the first day of this supposedly hard-to-enter school being one of the main ones), and it's definately a popcorn movie first and foremost.
The Spiders are fun and have good synergy with each other though that comes at the expense of Peter and Miles being the only ones to get any real character development.
Gwen's fun too, but she takes up way too much screentime for what she ends up accomplishing.
Spider-Verse Miles is the best version of Miles we've gotten but he's still a dull, uninspired protagonist and by far the least interesting of the Spiders, and the movie would've benefitted from being from Peter B's perspective instead.
I don't know, I haven't watched it. I did just read the comic though and from what I've seen on Cinemaphile and elsewhere I have some grievances.
>Small cast of Spider-Men unlike the comic >No Superior Spider-Man (army) >Sp//dr's design is butchered in this movie >The comic doesn't force me to listen to Post Malone (a plus) >No Jessica Drew >No 2099 >No Leopardon >Venom wasn't featured in either medium so, blah on the movie for not doing it >Who was even the big bad for the movie. I heard Doc Ock was in it but she was a chick >People are treating Miles like he didn't exist prior to this movie >No Spider-Werewolf >No Spider-Monkey
>No 2099 >No Leopardon
confirmed for the sequel also because the movie is a breathe of fresh air for capeshit cause all of the rest is insincere trash made by people who don't like the IP.
how is this in anyway insincere? The movie only ever actually rips at the live action films and one more day. The live action films actively make fun of spidey and his villains all the time.
>le audience is le tired of le corny catchphrase so Peter is too
Also this movie straight up adapts post-OMD Peter that's never allowed to grow, he's 40 and still a broke single bum who can't get his life together, he gets one second of growth at the end but that doesn't make up for him being a manchild for the entire duration of the movie and the implied decades before that
>Annoying meta commentary by a character talking like a typical Spider-Man movie watcher
Like that. >The live action films actively make fun of spidey and his villains all the time.
So does the Memeverse movie.
>le audience is le tired of le corny catchphrase so Peter is too

Yes. Memeverse wienersuckers love the status quo of Peter being an eternal loser down to his 40s because they're just like him.
May putting someone else's kid in danger, giving Peter's suit to a rando, having a spider-cave, the scene being a shoe ad, and the garbage jogger music ruin it, as well as Miles' arc being reduced to "..just do it™"
People like you are the reason gatekeeping is always the best solution. Imagine actually being that moronic >DUUUUUR IT'S ANOTHER UNIVERSE SO YOU CAN NAME YOUR BATMAN MOVIE ANYTHING
What an unbearably annoying and underage mindset.
Cringe and gay. Can't wait for the sequel to underperform and for the series to go by the wayside like the Lego movies, which this movie was just an uglier and less memorable rehash of anyway.
great animation but, too many characters and none of them interesting, it would have been better to bring Black Cat, Spiderwoman, Miles and Peter against the sinister six, just do that, ask any normie if they know any of these characters from the OP's image
The plot is fricking nonsense, even for superhero movie standards. It was visually very interesting, but that only goes so far when the story is just too goofy to take seriously.
Critical misunderstanding of Spider-Man as a character
Most obviously when the heroes are consoling Miles over his uncle's death and Peter claims that "there's always someone you can't save, for me it was my uncle Ben".
Same way it held up 4 years ago. A lot of flash to distract from the lack of substance underneath.
I mean, a lot of it is a rehash of "[x] discovers Spider-powers." Then there's an ensemble cast that doesn't get much to do. And it's about multiverse BS which is always the worst BS
From /toy/, looks like some of the Across the Spider-verse stuff is showing up at stores for some reason? Along with Titan Series Miguel, there's this Spider Punk guitar which i guess is confirmation Hobie (or someone else going as Spider-Punk) is going to appear?
Also? Right before the big roof jump moment there's a moment that they just go full clips how for a second; I found it moronic and assumes the audience is even more moronic.
Gwen Stacy in this movie is still a plot hole that messed with time. That part is still an issue. Adding the fact that Milesis starting to feel like Peter instead of his own character, & if the leak description of its sequel were true then they're just turning him into another Peter
>arrives a week earlier than everyone else somehow before the thing even happens >doesn't disintegrate despite being in a foreign universe for so long >doesn't go find or help the Spider-Man of the universe >her Spider-Sense leads her to a guy who's not the Spider-Man >somehow starts going to a private school a week into being in a different universe >also blends into Alchemax somehow despite being a 14 year old girl

>not it's not >there was, around a day or two >Spider-Man is a public figure and she said her spider-sense draws her to spider-people, it drew her to a civilian Miles who wasn't even bitten yet but it didn't towards the real Spider-Man swinging out and about >??? >that's not how exclusive private schools work, she went there for a full week and somehow never once got checked for ID or credentials >she is a tiny 14 year old girl and this is a highly guarded facility with biometric handprint security where even the researchers are armed
>Yes it is. What do you think time travel is? Hers was uncontrolled but she was able to arrive before the events of the collider. >At no point in the film did anyone ever mention a time frame for dying for being out of your universe for too long. It was always just 'soon' >NYC is a big place, Her Spider-sense is proximity based not a radar that points you to the nearest spider-person, that's confirmed with 1610 Pete reacts to Miles when he gets close to him. Gwen was drawn to Miles after his bite in the abandon subway and she bump into him to prod potential. >The 1st day of school was the day Miles moved in. She snuck in day 1, not a week of full classes. >And yet you have no problem understanding Miles and Peter were both able to circumnavigate those security checks with Spider-powers using ventilation.

She time travels in the movie. We see her do it. Gwen arrests her fall after she's pushed out of the warp while Both Peters, Peni, and Ham violently stop against a wall/billboard. I don't know what you're complaining about here. You seem to be upset on how someone can travel 20 miles in under an hour when they have access to a car. I don't get what you're whining about. >The glitching seems to happen in waves but there is no indication of anyone dying after 24 hours. No time frame was given for death. and All Spiders spend about 2 days in 1610 besides Gwen. >Gwen is watching a report on Alchemax with Oliva who is specifically the concept of parallel dimensions. She snuck into this class because the information was relevant to her current problem. She was five seconds to stealing Liv's computer before Miles + Peter beat her to it. >Miles was moving into his dorm which is why he packed a suitcase of clothes, he's still complaining about wanting to go to his old school. He has 1st day jitters because he knows no one. Uncle Aaron asks him about his 1st day when he meets him that evening. >Miles has no direct control over his powers let alone his camo ability at this point in the story. You can accept that Miles could evade detection by using the vents but Gwen who is in her PRIME could not. Baffling.

That tracks with how it works in the comics where there is no time travel involved in multiverses, they are all parallel, it's just that certain universes started earlier or later than others

What. Shallow IP key jingling has existed way before that even in the director's movie before that lmao. Fricking Endgame had Multiverse/timetravel meme crossovers and that was only 4 months after Memeverse
fricking lol, nah gay
>Oh no... no no NO! DELETE THIS!
see
That's just the melanin score nowadays
Still haven't had sex since this movie came out
Feel bad for you man.
Watch it again and you might get lucky.
I hope you find a girl and I hope you enter her Spider-Verse
Miles in Ultimate Spider-Man are pretty great.
>Why did she go to Miles School, by the way Miles won a lottery to get into.
Her spider sense is a bit more on the precog side and told her go there
>Why did she become an intern after landing in another universe.
She just broke in and put on a lab coat anon
>Spider-Cum: Into the Spider-dicky
>Spider-Cum: Across the Spider-Tummy
>Spider-Cum: Beyond the Spider-Bummy
I dunno. I like Peni but I don't think she has that much clout.
Man left penny would be so cool in the movie
No earnesty allowed here. You're gonna get memes and don't you dare call them that
>Miles for the first time is actually a character.
This is what fixed it for me. Miles was such a shit-heel character prior to this. They actually gave him a reason to be his own spiderman instead of some weird insistence that miles is THE spiderman over Peter Parker. Same thing happened with FemThor.
Like what
When female Thor and Black Spider-Man were made, they were made knowing there was going to be a backlash. They fill the book with scenes or characters saying "Wow, you truly are the (Spider-Man, Thor)" in fact more than the original.
But they forget to tell an actually interesting story.
it's a really good, fun movie unless you hate Miles and/or you're a racist
IDK I'm pretty racist but I liked it.
imagine unironically not being racist in current year +8
Gwen
Short hair or long hair?
Cinemaphile fears the sidecut and totally would have sperged over her hair if they didn't use the gum thing as an excuse.
Gwen does nothing but stand around being GENERIC COOL GIRL
Good point. I would like to see threads on how to write a tough girl well (without coomershit).
Allow her to have flaws and to struggle or even lose sometimes. Being strong isn't being flawless.
Gwanda
That pierce thing on her eyebrow should really not be there.
Women are allowed to wear what they want.
alright, i guess.
and everyone else is allowed to think it looks ugly.
Awful
>Peter Parker
Turned into a israelite because of bendis the israelite when Spider-Man has always been Catholic on account of aunt may who is Catholic.
>Gwen
Awful lesbo side haircut, awful piercing, disgusting love interest in miles. Why is it always white woman with a black?
>miles
only created because bendis has a black fetish and can't help himself subverting and perverting things that are good.
No
>shadman
I dislike Shadman's Gwen less than his other art.
Isn't the dude in prison?
He was, for like a day.
Aromasensei may suffer with same face for all their characters but goddamn are these scenarios hot.
>cuck shit
Nah
What?
This is a boy and is practically confirmed
How can you tell?
Still pretty great. The story's not really anything to write home about (i mean, besides still being better than any other Miles story) but the animation and aesthetics on this movie are still peak. You'd have to be the kind of moron who posts low effort bait for (You)s to not see that
Who's that pony tail girl?
Ultimate peter parker's female clone
It makes me wish all cape movies were animated. God imagine a world where everything was a spectacle on the screen instead of the unimaginative tripe we get.
Predict on what the sequal movie would be like?
Something with MIguel trying to restore the multiverse since miles/gwen probably put a lot of things out of place. I just hope the extra spider-characters aren't comedy fodder like last time.
This is actually quite impressive. Was this artist worked on the official Spider verse movie or something?
This is not a prediction, but would be cool if he was in the sequel movie...
Josh Keaton has actually hinted he may be returning for the Spider-Verse movies, it helps that the director is one of the Voltron showrunners.
Why would you want that? They're gonna make him into a meme anyway.
Film will feature a cameo of the new animated spider-man tv show.
My predict is the sequel will hopefully be good, if not better than the previous one.
Lol. They got the writer behind Wonder Woman 84 this time
Bad. Bad movie. Bland
>Steve Ditko died June 29, 2018
>Stan Lee died November 12, 2018
>ItSV released December 1, 2018
>It was so cancerous that Lee and Ditko killed themselves to avoid seeing it.
That's what Raimi wants you do believe. I still remember him screaming:
>"Spider-Man is not a Black person, homosexuals!"
You know, Raimi actually raped my sister in a dark alley.
Imagine a stylized Marvel game that really embraces the comic aesthetic with the onomatopoeia, thought bubbles, etc. Deadpool and Shattered Dimension was somewhat close to this. Midnight Suns looked soulless.
Uhh, Anon?
I remember going into a game krazy inside of Hollywood videos and stealing a venom comic book left inside the game box. I still have it
God will NOT forgive you. Have fun burning in the eternal flames.
forgot that
The Spiderverse part of it remains my only issue with it.
Not that I disagree, but what's a 10/10 animated movie in your opinion? Hardmode: no golden age Disney or anime.
A 10/10? I dunno. It's not like I thought much about ranking them, or rewatched a lot of them recently. My gut answer is The Iron Giant, but that could be nostalgia talking. Klaus would be a 10/10 for me personally if not for that dumbshit third act moment
I see. Personally I didn't like the faux 3D shading at all, waste of good 2D animation. Can't remember much of the story.
>animation looks like a botched render of Paperman
>eyebleeding low FPS
>cancerous rap music even over scenes that should be poignant
>every single character is a joke and misses the entire point
>plot holes everywhere
>full of terrible cliches and tropes
>garbage ironic meta humor
I'm convinced this movie's reception is the biggest psyop since people tried to convince everyone Gal Gadot was attractive, all because the main character was black, I cannot think a single good thing about it.
>animating on 2s is "eye bleeding"
This type of shit and the rest of your hyperbole is why people don't take you seriously. Well that and thinking people disagreeing with you is a government conspiracy.
It's not "animating" on 2s, it's rendering on 2s, there's literally no reason to cap your framerate if a computer is doing the inbetweens
because it wants to show off the keyframes Black person, its the reason why looney tunes is so funny, if its too fluid it loses some of the impact.
There's nothing preventing you from holding on keyframes on any kind of framerate, you have no idea what you're talking about, and all the non-action scenes i.e. the vast majority just look ugly and choppy since the keyframes in them are nothing special
what were the plot holes? seemed pretty tight to me.
im assuming when gwen stacy warped back in time in miles's world before the other spideys did from the collider
>cancerous rap music
That won multiple awards and top the charts for months
Your point?
>That won multiple awards and top the charts for months
The industry that produces garbage rewarding garbage wow quite the accolades.
They're also PR stunts. It's why Disney has been winning at least one Oscar everytime even if the film is blander than shit.
single character is a joke and misses the entire point
>>plot holes everywhere
>>full of terrible cliches and tropes
ironic meta humor
so you didn't watch it
That's pretty much right on the money though
Except no
I dont remember anything about this film other than hot peter parker was
no homo
>4 years
the frick?
Hi OP here. I think i make a mistake. Is was actually 5 years ago, instead of 4. I was using this pic related so that i could know when this movie was released at. That was on me, my bad.
The best comic book movie ever made. It won an Oscar for a reason.
So it shares the title with Big Hero 6?
bad
Time fricking flies the older you get
Don't like the celebration of the commercial aspect of Spider-Man. What the frick is up with people wanting Spider-Man to be like Batman including having a bat cave, a buttler and a bat family.
no fun allowed
You both sound like underage spergs who have no arguments
>shitty raimi meme
ok underaged homosexual
>N-No u
Thanks for proving my point, sperg. Isn't it already past your bedtime, champ?
Stfu troony
>N-No u
So underage you don't even know what projection is? Geez. Maybe you want to back to sleep, champ
You sound like an insufferably whiny homosexual
overrated, most spider-people are jus 2-dimensional character, take out the flashy animation and it's alright, lietrally replace spider-man symbol with superman, flash or any big ip and it would make no difference, this is why it doesnt feel uniquely spider-man to me also worst version of peter parker.
but i agree with this
this movie jus feels like away to commercialise the brand, the lack of thought and depth to each spider-persona, the main theme that anyone can be spider-man which flanderises even more that spider-man is self insert and it intoducing the boring trope that "anybody can be this x hero", like in thor 4 where anyone can be thor, it jus feels a shill way for corporate to make this white character ip inclusive to minorities without corprate bothering to put effort on their own uniuqe ip and it shows.
Because if he goes to far with either side it’ll end up making him miserable
fricking sucks
Did the sequels wait too long? Is the hype gone? Five years is a long ass time, that's basically half of Miles' existence
I don’t think the hype is gone. The fan base is certainly quiet but not gone, I’m sure it’ll make its money
automatically good for 1. giving Miles an actual identity and 2. inspiring all future Miles media to rip off his identity from here
How does his identity differ from the usual Peter identity, for storytelling purposes
What sort of stories can you tell with Miles that you cannot tell with Peter
most versions of high school peter parker wouldn't really give a frick about their social lives if they weren't bullied, but Miles cares a lot more about the expectations of his peers.
>Workprint Alternate Universe Cut
Never heard of it can you explain?
Way better than all Spiderman movies after it.
excellently. still the best superhero movie ever made, right next to Black Panther. 2018 was a hell of a year for comic book adaptations
>still the best superhero movie ever made, right next to Black Panther
pretty good. it proved that Miles is good enough to replace Peter and that we will be getting live action Miles when Iron Boys contract is up
I rewatched it recently, in fact!
Really great movie.
Third act is a little rushed, but the whole thing is delightful and fricking gorgeous to behold.
It got mogged hard by No Way Home, hard to care about it anymore
as far as the animation goes, it's cutting edge and memorable. several aspects annoyed me though
>annoying pig that didn't need to be in the film
>zomg epic multiverse, everything needz this nao
>anime character is more of an americanized clip art parody of anime rather than an actual anime character
seriously peni doesn't even look anime how the frick did her shit design make it to the final filmk2kxjs
There's literally nothing cutting edge about the animation
The What's Up Danger scene is still probably the best thing they ever did with Miles.
Still overshadowed by the spider-men, tho.
It's pretty good up until the final showdown, which is just visual noise where space doesn't matter.
Overall I've come to like the way it pivots into massive world ending danger less and less as time has gone on. The films best moments all involve the mundane and grounded meeting up with the absurd and fantastic.
>Teenage girl in tight spandex
>Not sexy at all, barely memorable
Why.
They wanted the homosexual audience.
>Not sexy at all
Maybe you're gay?
>After 4 years ago
dumbass
I like that he meets his semen receiver on his origin story. He'll grow a blc bbc hybrid someday.
That's a 14 year old girl you're talking about Bendis, are no depravities beneath you
I still want to frick Rio as much as I did when Spider-Verse first released.
Btw it hasn't been a full 4 years just yet.
Would have been amazing without miles
It's the best adaptation of him and he's still a boring, milquetoast dork
Spider-Verse Miles is the best version of Miles we've gotten but he's still a dull, uninspired protagonist and by far the least interesting of the Spiders, and the movie would've benefitted from being from Peter B's perspective instead.
a decent straight to streaming tier movie
I don't know, I haven't watched it. I did just read the comic though and from what I've seen on Cinemaphile and elsewhere I have some grievances.
>Small cast of Spider-Men unlike the comic
>No Superior Spider-Man (army)
>Sp//dr's design is butchered in this movie
>The comic doesn't force me to listen to Post Malone (a plus)
>No Jessica Drew
>No 2099
>No Leopardon
>Venom wasn't featured in either medium so, blah on the movie for not doing it
>Who was even the big bad for the movie. I heard Doc Ock was in it but she was a chick
>People are treating Miles like he didn't exist prior to this movie
>No Spider-Werewolf
>No Spider-Monkey
Why did the normies fawn over this movie again?
>No 2099
>No Leopardon
confirmed for the sequel also because the movie is a breathe of fresh air for capeshit cause all of the rest is insincere trash made by people who don't like the IP.
>cause all of the rest is insincere trash
So Spiderverse
how is this in anyway insincere?
So does the Memeverse movie.
>peter self inserters constantly complain about peter getting his shit together and becoming a chad entrepreneur and scientist but also always complain when status quo is broken and want him to be loser again forever
Yes. Memeverse wienersuckers love the status quo of Peter being an eternal loser down to his 40s because they're just like him.
Unironically great.
May putting someone else's kid in danger, giving Peter's suit to a rando, having a spider-cave, the scene being a shoe ad, and the garbage jogger music ruin it, as well as Miles' arc being reduced to "..just do it™"
>Making May the Alfred to Spider-Man
Why do you want Spider-Man to turn into Batman?
no one is saying they want that and this is clearly not the main universe peter anyway so WHO cares
People like you are the reason gatekeeping is always the best solution. Imagine actually being that moronic
>DUUUUUR IT'S ANOTHER UNIVERSE SO YOU CAN NAME YOUR BATMAN MOVIE ANYTHING
What an unbearably annoying and underage mindset.
and guess what the comics treat the characters exactly like that
The ones that haven't been good for roughly two decades now? Yeah people really are craving garbage.
style over substance. the story is just poo
Cringe and gay. Can't wait for the sequel to underperform and for the series to go by the wayside like the Lego movies, which this movie was just an uglier and less memorable rehash of anyway.
Thought on this song part in the movie?
Yeah, is pretty cute though.
4 years later i still want to smash Peter B Parker
he is way too hot for a character that wasn't intended to be.
Awesome art though.
Cute
I really want gaijin 4-koma edits to return
I wonder what are they're saying here?
great animation but, too many characters and none of them interesting, it would have been better to bring Black Cat, Spiderwoman, Miles and Peter against the sinister six, just do that, ask any normie if they know any of these characters from the OP's image
Wrong
Boring
The plot is fricking nonsense, even for superhero movie standards. It was visually very interesting, but that only goes so far when the story is just too goofy to take seriously.
I'm glad I saw it in the theatre, it was a great experience.
Am I the only one who really hates peni Parker?
Why? Is she cringe or annoying?
Yeh, I can’t exactly explain it but her scenes make me feel extreme embarrassment
It was pretty good. Nice visuals and all, tried something a little bit different, i like it. It wasn't the absolute best thing, but it was good
Critical misunderstanding of Spider-Man as a character
Most obviously when the heroes are consoling Miles over his uncle's death and Peter claims that "there's always someone you can't save, for me it was my uncle Ben".
solid capeshit overrated for it's animation.
Was the animation really that overrated?
the animation is good, it's just that it's relatively alright story is overlooked for it.
Was it Spider-Man or Spiderman?
Which live action Spider-Man would be the better mentor for Miles?
Same way it held up 4 years ago. A lot of flash to distract from the lack of substance underneath.
I mean, a lot of it is a rehash of "[x] discovers Spider-powers." Then there's an ensemble cast that doesn't get much to do. And it's about multiverse BS which is always the worst BS
Very badly
I still want to frick the shit out of Peni. Not even a e-girl man
she's a teenager, so it's more acceptable
>All the criticism is "I hate Miles/Black folk"
I guess it was a good movie
Still a good heros journey
From /toy/, looks like some of the Across the Spider-verse stuff is showing up at stores for some reason? Along with Titan Series Miguel, there's this Spider Punk guitar which i guess is confirmation Hobie (or someone else going as Spider-Punk) is going to appear?
>Spider-Man movie without Spider-Man in the main cast
What the frick were they thinking
I wonder if the Spider-Punk mini was made with this knowledge or if it was a happy coincidence.
>Doesn't give you infinite pleasure
Shit toy, will not buy.
She got a nice butts
Source?
Stacy's mom has got it going on.
Good movie, terrible soundtrack that ages like milk.
Also? Right before the big roof jump moment there's a moment that they just go full clips how for a second; I found it moronic and assumes the audience is even more moronic.
*clipshow

What do you guys think of that credits animation
I think is pretty neat.
The costume design for white and blacker Spiderman is so cool. And i don't know why?
Gwen Stacy in this movie is still a plot hole that messed with time. That part is still an issue. Adding the fact that Milesis starting to feel like Peter instead of his own character, & if the leak description of its sequel were true then they're just turning him into another Peter
I do like Nicolas Cage as Noir Spidey
Need more Peni
How is she a plot hole?
>arrives a week earlier than everyone else somehow before the thing even happens
>doesn't disintegrate despite being in a foreign universe for so long
>doesn't go find or help the Spider-Man of the universe
>her Spider-Sense leads her to a guy who's not the Spider-Man
>somehow starts going to a private school a week into being in a different universe
>also blends into Alchemax somehow despite being a 14 year old girl
>That's how time travel works
>No specific time was stated for how fast disintegration happens
>Meta knowledge she wouldn't be privy to because she's a character in the story.
>Meta knowledge
>She walked in with a uniform and blended in. She was researching alchemax when we first see her.
>She again found a lab coat combined with Spider skill set snuck in.
>not it's not
>there was, around a day or two
>Spider-Man is a public figure and she said her spider-sense draws her to spider-people, it drew her to a civilian Miles who wasn't even bitten yet but it didn't towards the real Spider-Man swinging out and about
>???
>that's not how exclusive private schools work, she went there for a full week and somehow never once got checked for ID or credentials
>she is a tiny 14 year old girl and this is a highly guarded facility with biometric handprint security where even the researchers are armed
>Yes it is. What do you think time travel is? Hers was uncontrolled but she was able to arrive before the events of the collider.
>At no point in the film did anyone ever mention a time frame for dying for being out of your universe for too long. It was always just 'soon'
>NYC is a big place, Her Spider-sense is proximity based not a radar that points you to the nearest spider-person, that's confirmed with 1610 Pete reacts to Miles when he gets close to him. Gwen was drawn to Miles after his bite in the abandon subway and she bump into him to prod potential.
>The 1st day of school was the day Miles moved in. She snuck in day 1, not a week of full classes.
>And yet you have no problem understanding Miles and Peter were both able to circumnavigate those security checks with Spider-powers using ventilation.
>it's not, you are making shit up because you are coping and know you are wrong in fact Olivia says the parallel universes are happening at the exact same time meaning there is no time travel involved and Noir is just from a universe that's ~60 years late
>the movie very clearly depicts all the Spider-Men starting to glitch out a day after their arrival whereas Gwen survived for a week
>we see her land in Manhattan where logically Spider-Man would be patrolling whereas Miles is in Brooklyn, she says she only went to the school because her spider-sense told her so even though Miles wasn't yet bitten when we first see her in the school
>again making shit up because you are wrong, nowhere is it said it's the first day of school and in fact the people greeting Miles on his way ask him how school is going and say the hood misses him, and the physics teacher tells him he's late again and he gets a test back meaning he's been attending for a while and we see Gwen attend on at least two separate days
>they were sneaking around the vents while Miles was invisible, whereas Gwen was very obviously out of place as a tiny 14 year old girl wandering the halls with no ID
Baffling.
>all this cope and making shit up because you can't accept you're wrong
Anon next time instead of being objectively, provably in the wrong, try being objectively provably in the right like I am, it will do wonders for your arguments
Your arguments are flimsy a best, and straight moronic at worst. I can't help you.
They aren't arguments, it's evidence easily seen or heard in the movie, unlike your posts which are literally made up shit and cope.
a week earlier than everyone else somehow before the thing even happens
Noir is from the 30s or 40s, how is HE off your radar on that?
see
>Olivia says the parallel universes are happening at the exact same time meaning there is no time travel involved and Noir is just from a universe that's ~60 years late
That tracks with how it works in the comics where there is no time travel involved in multiverses, they are all parallel, it's just that certain universes started earlier or later than others
Cute Gwen~
Knowing that this is Bendis' cuck self-insert fantasy flirting with a version of Peter's tragically lost ex based on Stan Lee's wife skeeves me the frick out, this shit is what they present to little kids as wholesome romance?
>Peter's tragically lost ex based on Stan Lee's wife
wait Gwen is based on Joan?
holy shit now i understand why Stan was pissed when they killed Gwen Stacy when it happened in the comics.
Yes, he also made Conway bring her back
>Le quirky meaningless wideshot
E-celebs are going to love this
Why can’t shots just look cool?
It can. It gets annoying when people like you praise a kids movie for doing the most basic shit in film
I didn’t praise it, you made an imaginary scenario where some annoying man baby is praising it. It looks nice is all I’ll say
You projected that moronic "why aren't shots allowed to be cool" here so don't pretend like I'm talking about imaginary scenarios, moron.
>You projected that moronic "why aren't shots allowed to be cool
ok, anon, what's retareded about saying a shot can just be cool looking and that's it? here
you were compiling about it being mealiness and quirky when I basically said "and, so what?"
>here so don't pretend like I'm talking about imaginary scenarios
praise/=/hey looks nice. I didn't project anything
>compiling about it being mealiness
complaining meaningless
You didn't say and so what though. Are you perhaps illiterate so you don't understand the meaning of language and how to use it? Perhaps that is why you constantly see something that isn't there while doing it yourself like a moronic monkey? Perhaps an english course would help you instead of using childish cartoon images to convey your annoyances with how you word things lmao
So you don't actually have a response? Ok
>Gets a direct response to his dumb claims
>Can't read it
LOL. Okay, esl-kun
making a post about ESL isn't a direct response, you're literally just changing the subject to insult me for no reason. I'm trying to be reasonable anon
>Has his dumb claim refuted literally in the first sentence
>Pretends to be reasonable when people call him ESL for not being able to read like most people above the age of 18
You forgot to add your funny annoyed cartoon reaction, anon. What happened to that? Not reasonable enough anymore?
What kind of refute is
>You didn't say and so what though
frog tier posting. No one knows anything about story, just tastes backed up by politics
>can't refute anything
>"uhhhh IT'S JUST YOUR OPINION BRO"
Classic
I thought it was pretty decent, but probably wouldn't have gone out of my way to see it if not for the fact that the rest of my family wanted to see it.
Even back then I was burnt out on superhero and kids' movies.
Cute and canon.
eh.. not my kind of ship.
Made me actually like Miles rather than just tolerate him.
Funny, it made me actively dislike Miles rather than just tolerate him
