Why does 616 Peter need to have been 15 when he was bit? The high school era was so brief, he might as well have been 17 instead. What purpose does it serve to needlessly extend the high school period?
Because it’s unnecessary. The whole real time argument is ultimately just a nerd thing. If you were to tell a newcomer reader that the Lee-Ditko HS stories all took place within Peter’s senior year, they’d believe you. The reason being that the whole thing doesn’t feel like three years, but one. It’s Spider-Man: Year One. There are no breaks, spring and summer. He was just in high school until he wasn’t when he graduated. Plus, Peter can’t be 15 since he’s supposed to be older than Betty who dropped out of high school to work at the Daily Bugle. Also, making him 15 gives credence to those who claim Spider-Man’s about youth when it never was. It was about growing up, and having him be 17 instead reinforces that notion.
He’s like three months older than Betty stop bringing that up

The point is that he’s definitely not 15 anywhere during the Ditko-Lee run. He’s 17.

He’s 17 at some point sure. Not at the very start though. He’s 15 or 16 at the latest

Earliest. And no. ASM#1 picks up immediately after AF#15. In it, Peter tells Aunt May that he’s going to have to drop out and get out a job, which can only be possible if he was at least 16. Amazing Fantasy also takes place over the course of several weeks.

Him being 15 when he was bit has been the one continent retcon since ultimate does it really matter like actually. He's 14 when he gets bit, dicks around for a couple months doing talkshow shit until Ben is murdered. By then he's about 16 and starts pulling his own weight to help out May. He grows up from a 15/16 year old he thinks being Spider-Man is only about fun to an young adult with great power comes great responsibility. Nothing changes by making him 15.
According to Matt, he’s 17 AND 5’10. Chronologically, the story after this is the annual which claims Uncle Ben died “months ago”. This was after Stan made the claim in the letters page for #12 that Pete was older than the high school dropout Betty by several months. Betty first appeared in ASM#2 so she’d need to be at least 16 to legally work at the Daily Bugle at that point in time.
>Why does 616 Peter need to have been 15 when he was bit?
Because his superhero story is a coming of age story. He starts out as an ignorant boy and turns a man.
You also don't need him to be 17 to do that. What is your moronic point here? Spider-Man starts his journey with 15 and it's him coming of age.

He was never 15, he was always 16 or 17. The kids in his class drive cars in the first issue. And reading those high school years he acts nothing like a sophomore, much more like a student on the cusp of graduating.
The 15 thing was a retcon to artificially stretch his age out so they could claim he’s still mid 20s in the present day.
>He was never 15,
Shit, from 14 right to 16 eh? It's not like Marvel super-kids don't age bizarrely anyway. Miles went from 13-14 to 16-17 overnight. The Richards kids grew up while the adults around them stayed the same.
characters should have a physique that matches what they do, he's an acrobatic gymnast that flips and swings through the air, he should have the body of one
5ft5 is not short, it’s the perfect size. You’re short enough that you don’t require as much food or space as 6ft+ people but no so short that women mog you.
>someone else's spider powered child
How many spider-powered folk does that make in 616?
Pete
Kaine
Ben
Doppleganger(?)
The venom symbiote (webbing, wall-crawling)
Miles
Miles' moron clone
Selim (probably not actually dead given comics)
Webman
Anya
Julia Carpenter
Silk
Mattie Franklin
Cassandra Webb
Is Miguel still in 616?
Spider-boy
Charlotte Witter
Spidercide
Jessica Drew
That kid
That's ~20ish people.
When is enough enough?
There are less telepaths in Marvel (~ 18 according to https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Glossary:Telepathy )
5'10 is the perfect height for Spider-Man
This. He's supposed to be small and agile. Not some kind of steroid brick.
t. manlet.
Spider-Man was designed by Ditko to be built like a brick shithouse even as a teenager.
sussy rain

Cinemaphile doesn't read comics, as usual
when he's 15, sure.

Why does it matter? It was over in three years real time anyway

You don't need him to be 15 to do that. Most 17 years olds don't have it all together and are still plenty immature.
You also don't need him to be 17 to do that. What is your moronic point here? Spider-Man starts his journey with 15 and it's him coming of age.

this is what his body should look like

when will they learn?
he's 5'10" officially, so I'm not sure what you're driving at
That's his height when he was still in high school in the 60s. Black cat is also supposed to be 5'10 but he's always taller.
wolverine is 5'2" and he's usually just a little shorter than everyone else
these things aren't drawn to scale
Manlets have a hero.
cute
meh
k
I like to think they spend their buddy time talking about Carol's fat ass
And thats fine.
5'7 when he's 15 and pre spider bite and then 5'10 post bite as it gives him a growth spurt
A comic character being 6ft is about 5'5 in the real world tbf
You are (not) Spider-Man.
People trying to turn Spider-Man into Batman are always funny to me. No dude, he was modeled after Robin.

Can someone who's not a foot fetishist translate this into real numbers?
Spider-Man's canon height is 1,77m. The average height of a man today
Hey
that's my size
Because ASM Annual #1 states that Uncle Ben died “months ago” and that takes place after the Daredevil issue.
Wrong

wait, scratch madame Webb, she's just a fortune teller with a spider motif.
Mayday?
He's part Italian, no way he's taller than 5'10.
I've always had him at either 5'9 or 5'10. With the exception of USM, who's clearly shorter.
Peter's Irish.
