In the comics, the character was born from the idea of a Gwen who got her peter killed, he loved peter and were a couple until bullying got the better of him and turned into the lizard, Gwen killed him, after revealing her superhero identity to her father she ran away from home and then got recruited by Spider-UK to join the multiverse fight against the inheritors, all of this in the comics.
In the newest movie most of her origin story is intact (except for the last part)
And in one of the shots she has a trans flag that says "protect trans kids" on her room, it's a set piece, since then trannies have tried to claim her as their own.
It was really mediocre, and I don't care for culture war stuff
I just don't see why people got so blown away by it, like sure it has some nice animation but other than that? average plot & characters, even its themes are lukewarm and uninteresting.
It was nice to watch in the theater surrounded by zoomer girls with colorful hair, but I couldn't sit through it at home. The more I think about this movie, the less I like it.
This really is a level above anything else animated. After Puss in Boots 2 I really came around to Dreamworks but this movie just ups the quality in every way. I wish the characters would shut the frick up sometimes, though.

Or they should’ve ignored the Spider-Verse in the first film and just had Peter B and Gwen exist in Miles’ universe from the get go.

i enjoyed the story a little more than the first one i think but jesus christ this was so hard to watch. who left the fricking animators unsupervised? felt like i was going to develop epilepsy and adhd by the time it was over. is this what zoomers need for their entertainment to be digestible??
